  1. Except Rose was a lot better at his sport. But yeah I agree on the rest of the comparison.
  2. When’s Theo’s next radio interview? I want to hear about how he’s angry and if things don’t change there will be a big overhaul only for nothing to happen because no one on this team is held accountable
  3. The 7-1 start with four 1 run wins was a mirage
  4. Almora is 2-3 lifetime with a HR vs Bumgarner so with that long track record of success we need to put him in the heart of the order
  5. Well, you can't really expect a guy to learn all those pesky signs in just five years, after all. To be honest, I never got the impression that Addison Russell was smart. Even before the abuse allegations came out, something just seemed off about his interviews. He used a lot of cliches (some of used incorrectly like the bartender in Boondock Saints), often times if a question involved any sort of critical thinking his answer would basically have nothing to do with the question. At the time I gave him the benefit of doubt and assumed he was just not a great public speaker, but based on what we know about him now I think he's just a moron. It doesn't surprise me at all that he would not know or at least be able to identify signs.
  6. What does it take to get booted off the Cubs or at least lose your current role? -Having a .391 OPS over a 3 month span and overall an OPS+ of 42. So bad that he is getting like 10 PA at month at best? Not good enough -Starting 80% of the games despite being sub replacement level offensively and only marginally above replacement level defensively? Not good enough -Abusing his wife repeatedly, showing no remorse, expressing disdain for fans who express their displeasure for his actions, showing an overall decline in his game, frequently making mental errors on simple ass horsefeathers, admitting without prompting that he's missing signs and shrugging it off as just something he has to do better? Not good enough. -Have a team be 3-15 in the last 18 games you've pitched in, largely because of your uncanny ability to implode whenever you come in the game? Not good enough I mean one of these guys might have to live stream himself leading a dog fighting ring in order to get kicked off this team. Never seen a halfway decent team routinely put so many bad ballplayers in important roles repeatedly.
  7. I think Mills is the best hitter of the bottom 3 of the order and I’ve never seen him hit.
  8. Giants are red hot coming into this having won 15 of their last 18 games. Let's cool them down
  9. Random question RE: Lee Smith. His tenue with the Cubs was a few years before I started actively following the team so I don't know a ton about him other than the basics. In the video tribute WGN showed in the pre-game yesterday, they mentioned that the Cubs traded him to Boston in 1987 per his request. Does anyone know the circumstances behind him asking to be traded?
  10. There are 6 players on this roster that I have no confidence in when they come in. In 2016 i think that number was 0
  11. Welp that didn’t work out like Joe anticipated. 7-2 homestand barring comeback is still pretty good but I don’t think we are playing as well as we could be
  12. Man I remember when Carl would come in and just dominate with electric swing and miss stuff. He always had occasional hiccups where he’d lose control but for the most part he was a reliable if not dominant set up guy. What the hell happened to him?
  13. No. Geez I knew he was not doing well but didn’t realize that. Only 10 PA but 0-9 with 1BB and 3K so far as a Cub
  14. Boo offense Rough knowing that 2 of Russell, Descalso, Almora or Maldonado will be in the lineup most days. Some days it’s fine but days like today when you can use some help from the supporting bats it hurts
  15. Very confused. Why exactly have Cubs fans been booing Machado all weekend? Because the Cubs didn’t attempt to sign him?
  16. super second half cubs have been engaged - this man is toast We’ve been winning more and I certainly appreciate that but I’m not sure if we are really playing that much better baseball. They are hitting better, or at least more consistently, but the stupid mistakes and mental errors that plagued us all June are still there quite a bit. But heck close enough, Super Cubs engaged
  17. Records since the break: Cubs 7-1 Cardinals 6-3 Brewers 5-4 Reds 3-6 Pirates 2-6 Reds keeping their RD fun alive. Despite the 3-6 record their RD is +2
  18. Has Kimbrel always been this walk prone? I can’t remember. Cubs win!
  19. Lol one of their best hitters tries to bunt with the game on the line and fails
