  1. I blame Ben Zobrist’s wife for freeing up money to sign him. And for his horsefeathering awful walkup music
  2. Man the box score will show Nico failed with the game on the line 2 nights in a row but...definitely didn’t fail.
  3. It’s too bad we couldn’t ride the “no book on the new guy” run of success longer with Nico
  4. So, you're saying there's a chance. The goal in my book was to take 3 of 4. So the margin of error will be a lot less if we don’t come back tonight
  5. Pains me to see emotion from guys like Rizzo and Castellanos. They want to win, they just aren’t good enough to do it consistently
  6. Cubs hits in each of the Cubs first 4 games of the homestand: 16 14 19 10 Cubs total hits in the 2 2/3 games since then: 11
  7. Schwarber awful fielding performance today. As I’ve said of late, this team can’t go along very long without their flaws catching up with them.
  8. You know what’s not great to do in a critical game? Give up an extra base hit to lead off every inning
  9. If only you could trade runs from one game to another
  10. You know Javy is going to push to come back for those last 3 games of the season if necessary
  11. The fact that he’s leading off and not just hidden somewhere in the 5-7 range with the purpose of selling out for dongs tells me he’s actually feeling ok Obviously thrilled to have our best hitter vs sliders back against a pitcher with one of the best sliders this year, but Vic is also pretty good on a team that for the most part sucks against them. Wish we could have fit him in there too.
  12. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me 36 times...well I’m sure this time it’s legit
  13. I can't read the article because its a paid one, but Hub is making the argument that the Bears gameplan on Sunday was not designed to limit Mitch or because they didn't have faith in him, that it was to survive winning in Denver in September. That's where the article gets cut off but I'm assuming that the reasoning has to do with high altitude + heat. Interestingly enough, prior to last week the Broncos had won their previous 13 home games in the month of September, the last loss being in 2012 against the Texans. Guess we will see how valid this is next Monday.
  14. Damn west coast people. Still seems strange theres a Thursday night game on FOX. Guessing this is a special end of season thing they do. Last home night game of the year, lets get a W
  15. Why the horsefeathers does a Thursday home game start at 4:15 and why is it on Fox? I'm so confused here.
  16. 57 runs in 4 games followed by 4 (so far) in the next 2
  17. Anyone know how the Brewers did tonight?
  18. Guy with a 5 ERA is 1 hitting the Cubs through 6 innings
  19. Man the Pirates pitching is terrible
  20. Glad he was safe but that was an awful decision
  21. #PTR coming through for once
  22. Yeah seriously, are we suggesting that Tyler Bray is the way to maximize having an elite defense this year? Look Mitch has been terrible this year and is likely not the answer long term at QB, but with Bray you are getting Mitch's performance on Sunday without the one good throw at the end. I still have faith that Mitch can play adequately enough to be the clear better option than anyone else on the roster or anyone who would be available midseason. The suggestion is that if Trubisky can't hit open receivers, find someone who can. Trubisky got a pass from me last year because he did occasionally find receivers downfield between bad throws. So far this year, there has been very little to be excited about at the QB position. I'm not really opining for Bray, but some unknown cat named Gardner Minshew can step into the spotlight on short notice and connect with his receivers. I was hoping a full offseason would get Trubisky in tune with his receivers, and it appears as though he has taken a step or two backwards instead. Another lame effort against Washington (and in the national spotlight) and I'll be ready to move on. Maybe they can get Fitzpatrick on the cheap. I just don't see some dude whose been in the league for 6 years but has rarely if ever made an active roster as someone who can step in and be effective. Minshew was a 2019 draft pick and earned his way into a role as Jags backup QB in 1 training camp. I guess I just remember clamoring for Hanie to get a chance and when he did he was [expletive] awful. Worse than Mitch awful. Anyways, as bad as Mitch has been, he was pretty much an average starting QB last season in a number of metrics. True he also had some enormous red flags and it seems like defenses have figured him out but I'd give him more than 3 weeks to see if he can get back to some semblance of that level before kicking him to the curb for Tyler Bray. Fitzpatrick is a decently intriguing option if he's available midway through the season and Mitch is still as awful.
