Nats are kind of like how we should have been. Start with a very good core, sign free agents like Scherzer and Corbin who actually perform at or above expectations, manage to develop star talent during their run of contention (Turner, Soto, etc), good enough to afford losing a core player and not miss a beat. Now I’d take the Cubs run of winning a World Series and the playoffs 4 years in a row over the nationals never making it out of the NLDS and miss the playoffs seemingly every other year but I can’t help be jealous with how they are built
