So the Cubs have scored 10 runs in 5 innings and only have one XBH which was a bloop double (right? That’s what my scores app says) -

I've wondered about that but I've seen that at many other stadiums and arenas where fans are allowed. Assuming its to keep us mouth breathing fans away from the players. Particularly important with our dumbass team who won't get vaccinated

Yeesh can’t believe that. As much as I loved Javy at his best he was the one I was always most wary about an extension with. His best skills rely on speed and quick instincts. He’s not a player that can still find a way to be a productive hitter when that bat speed goes and his defense naturally takes a step back as he ages. But I was willing to accept an extension because Javy at his best is pure unbridled joy to watch everyday.

I mean he hasn’t pitched since Monday and the Cubs are off tomorrow. If anything it would be worse if he didn’t pitch tonight as it would be over a week between outings. Edit: Cubswin beat me lol

I’m struggling to grasp this. So it’s like the Champions League except that the 12 teams that already make it almost every year and now guaranteed to make it? It would be like if Clemson, Bama and OSU started their own playoff with a 4th team invited every year

I hadn’t made a game thread in 5 years until I made one yesterday (in the 2nd inning) and the Cubs scored 13 runs. In the last 6 games prior to yesterday, the Cubs combined to score 11 runs. Baseball is a funny game sometimes. Hendricks is not sick anymore apparently and will start.

I thought I read somewhere yesterday that his chase rate at pitches outside the zone was the lowest in his career (though still well above league average) and but his contact rate in the strike zone was also the lowest in his career.

Now this is starting to annoy me as this game will skew how bad this offense has been and will probably continue to be (Ok I’m not annoyed, dongs are fun)

There was an article in I think the athletic that talked about how the Cubs offense has been historically unlucky this year and if they had average luck they’d be like the 20th best offense instead of dead last by a large margin. May have even been brought up here.

I have to assume that Huascar Ynoa is a high school pitcher the Braves picked up to see if really any pitcher could shut down the Cubs. Either way, I’d expect him to be given his outright release after the game

It's funny because the offense has struggled in certain key areas over the last few years, but this year it seems like those same struggles on steroids and unrelenting. K rate is 30%, 7-75 coming into today with RISP, struggles against non-fastballs. We've seen this all before for 5-7 game stretches but they usually show signs of line. This offense has been flatlined since game 1
