  1. Man I thought that game tying hit would buy him another week or two. for the record im thrilled though
  2. B1G would have to add a 16th school if they brought in KU, no? Do they save another current Big 12 school from irrelevance? Iowa State is in the AAU, for whatever that's worth, but that might ruffle Iowa's feathers. Maybe Colorado if the B1G wants to continue playing Manifest Destiny. This is all to say nothing of the fact that the current 14 B1G schools would definitely be seeing a minor hit to their per-school payouts by adding those schools, there's no way they'd be worth enough not to. They'd definitely add a 16th school and its super interesting to speculate. I would guess though that another Big 12 school is most likely, and one that has some value as a football program and/or like you said has a new territory to offer. I think there are 4 factors: academics, football program (success and revenue), basketball (success and revenue), market There's more to academics than whether someone is an AAU school but its relevant as Nebraska is the only Big Ten school who is not a member. Looking at Big 12 programs, Kansas and Iowa State are the only 2 AAU schools (besides Texas). Football wise, there are no powerhouses there but Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Baylor are strong programs and generally bring in revenue. Iowa State is on the upswing, TCU and Kansas State have been good recently, but I'd say OK St, TTU and Baylor are on that top tier Basketball is sort of the same thing in terms of historical powerhouses but obviously Baylor is the current national champ, Texas tech was in the title game 2 seasons ago, and the rest of the teams besides TCU are generally strong more often than not. Marketwise...Iowa State is a good 100+ miles from Iowa but they both share a relatively small market. Big Ten isn't getting much traction by adding ISU. Oklahoma State is a little better but still a small market thats dominated by another state school, KState is similar. West Virginia is tiny and near Maryland. The Texas schools though... all bring markets like Dallas, Houston, Austin, San Antonio into the mix so definitely the winners there. If you take all factors into consideration you are looking at Baylor or Texas Tech as the most desirable IMO. But Baylor has some....issues in its recent past that may make the Big Ten look past them.
  3. Have no idea how valid this guy is but interesting if true. I just....if the money is disproportionately in football vs. basketball, I dont know why the Big Ten would entertain adding another bad football program, but this program is historically awful even more than Rutgers was. But as a college basketball fan, what an amazing conference. In terms of academics, I'm pretty sure Kansas falls into line as the type of school they would take as they are in the AAU.
  4. Holy horsefeathers that looks awful, especially the G logo. Like wtf is that...are those wings taken from the old Angels logo? The font is awful too, it looks like a low budget little league team logo that was created by some parent flipping through various fonts.
  5. We did it folks! No game thread created until the game is over! I honestly thought they were off today until a minute ago Cubs lose 3-2, lose 3 of 4 in STL, the only win requiring a miraculous 5 run comeback in the 9th.
  6. Obviously there is a long list of dumber things that he said in that thread, but lol at Bum listing Marquette as a possibility for Big Ten expansion on his OP.
  7. Again this has to be some sort of weird marketing strategy. Either that or I've lost track of what is cool
  8. Lets divvy up the Big 12: SEC: Oklahoma Texas ACC: West Virginia Big Ten: Kansas Iowa State Pac 12: Baylor Oklahoma State Kansas State Texas Tech Tough luck TCU. Obviously SEC is getting the best. Pac 12 gets an emerging basketball power and some decent football programs. Big Ten gets a blueblood basketball team but a historically awful football team and Iowa State which has its moments but certainly not going to add prestige to the football side of things (though this makes a great rivalry with Iowa intraconference which is cool). That said, after taking on Maryland and Rutgers I'm not sure they'd be thrilled to further dilute their football conference. West Virginia gets better regionally aligned and the ACC gets a solid program overall.
  9. He gets way more big hits against us than he should
  10. You know you suck when they opt to intentionally walk a guy that strikes out 45% of the time to get to you
  11. 3 times in 4 games that the Cubs have trailed going into the 9th and have tied it or taken the lead
  12. Slash line before TLR publicly threw him under the bus: .364/.410/.574/.984 After: .162/.236/.207/.443 Sure he was starting to come back to earth before that but this narrative fits better
  13. And would you look at that I mean, that inning turned to what it did because of a swinging bunt combined with an error that put a runner on second. I’m not putting that one on Ross. Fair enough, I’m not watching. I just saw Schwarber Fan’s post and then the score immediately after.
  14. And would you look at that
  15. Trying to determine if this helps or hurts them with the expanded playoff proposal. On one hand, winning the Big 12 and getting the virtually guaranteed playoff spot that comes with it is a lot easier in the Big 12. But conversely, SEC teams will probably have 2-3 wild card teams per season by virtue of being the SEC. In the Big 12, you maybe will have 2 team a year making it instead of 3-4 in the SEC. Obviously the biggest consideration above all and ultimately whats driving this is money , but just trying to think about it from a football standpoint.
  16. Thats just a strange choice then. Maybe there is logic behind it for Seattle but Hawks fans have been stressing about the expansion draft for 2 years now and I don't think anyone brought his name up as a potential selection. Some of the guys on their roster have to make under $1 million. yeah and I just read that hes an UFA so they don't even need to roster him if they don't want to. Basically I'm reading that Seattle didnt care for what the Hawks left exposed so they took a flyer on a cheap tweener type of player.
  17. Seems like an odd choice. Makes me wonder if Seattle wanted someone else but worked out a side deal with the Hawks not to take that person. reporters saying there was no side deal Thats just a strange choice then. Maybe there is logic behind it for Seattle but Hawks fans have been stressing about the expansion draft for 2 years now and I don't think anyone brought his name up as a potential selection.

  19. WNT losing 3-0 to Sweden is a concerning way to start the Olympics...
  20. Also a reversal of yesterday, the Cardinals had 3 strikeouts in the 9th, but only struck out 2 Cubs (Wisdom struck out twice but reached on a passed ball the first time)
  21. Considering Twitter was pretty adamant about how lifeless the Cubs looked all night, pretty crazy to see them down 6-1 and put up 6 in the 9th
  22. No I’m sure he’s injured to the degree that he can no longer be traded
  23. My first thought was wondering when Manfred took over FIFA. I don't disagree with the logic behind some of these, but it seems very radical...are there actually hardcore soccer fans (outside of the US) that are in favor of some of these?
  24. This is how the Cardinals have scored 4 runs this inning: Strikeout Error Single Walk Error Error Strikeout Walk Infield Single Strikeout
