  1. Apparently Stroman took a physical today so his signing should make it through before the lockout
  2. Fangraphs projected 4/$84 at the beginning of the offseason
  3. I know Thursday is the better day to assess injuries but looks like Hicks, Robinson, Roquan and Kmet DNP today. Fields was limited and apparently Dalton was exclusively taking snaps with the starters.
  4. Twitter guy is kinda a douche, but Stroman has been liking tweets with him in a Cubs uniform.
  5. I mean if the CBA drastically changes I can see one or the other side backing out if its not official.
  6. I am in favor of this signing
  7. Stupid. I mean its a slap on the wrist but still stupid imo
  8. The sucky thing about all this is that it's going to give credence to the idea that ND can't win a title at all. I agree, and have for years, that ND was never winning a title with Brian Kelly. I do think there's a difference. Just to name one very recent example, Michigan just straight-up punked Ohio State with a roster that isn't appreciably more talented than Notre Dame's is, at least by recruiting rankings. If they want a better chance to win a championship, they should join a conference. Like, for reals this time. If they joined the big 10 with a condition being that they get put in the west, they'd have a good shot to be in the title game nearly every year. I know, I know...traditions, blah blah blah. Agreed. ND really just makes it hard for themselves for whatever reason. I'm sure Andy will disagree but that's how I see it. They didn't even budge when there was a legitimate proposal for an expanded playoff that benefits conference champions not to mention have bent over backwards to align with a conference and receive virtually all the benefits of being in a conference without actually committing the football team to it.
  9. ESPN did their FC 100. Last year Dest and Pulisic made the list, this year they did not. Good read though. https://www.espn.com/soccer/blog-espn-fc-united/story/4506053/espn-fc-100-messilewandowskioblak-among-no-1s-premier-league-has-most-representatives
  10. Yeah I like it a lot. Great 2020 with the SSS caveats and then a terrible 2021, was once a top prospect. If it works out, its a huge addition for us, if it doesn't we can cut bait easily. These are the types of moves we should be making if we're not going to go after top FAs.
  11. hmm EDIT: They may also be readying to jump very quickly on some non-tenders Shouldn't we just figure out who the Rays want in return then close up trade talks and sign those players to extensions?
  12. horsefeathers it I'm just going to throw another random rumor out there. If you want me to create a more sketchy rumor thread I will. Huge grain of salt but at least this dude and the KB rumor guy both have more than 4k followers on twitter
  13. I have no idea who this dude is to take with a giant grain of salt
  14. Would be funny if after all the bitching the Cubs were quietly laser-focused on Correa and Stroman and ended up getting them both. I am not getting my hopes up though. Then again...
  15. One thing to keep in mind is that Willson has admitted he loves stirring up horsefeathers on Twitter. I'd totally believe that this time it's real, but Willson loves a good troll job. We'll see how it plays out. If they do intend to keep Willson, the report that they aren't currently having extension talks with him is not a great sign, though that could be something they are saving for after their offseason moves (given Willson has repeatedly said he doesn't want to sign with a rebuilding team).
  16. This "one game back of playoffs" chatter, which technically true, is a bunch of [expletive]. And I know no one here is saying its realistic, just pointing out all the twitter chatter. Let's game it out.... They are behind 7 other teams for that last playoff spot: WFT - 1 game behind, has a 5-2 conference record vs. the Bears 2-4. Almost certain to lose this tiebreaker Vikings - 1 game behind but 2 H2H's left so technically the Bears can with both and get the tiebreaker (and probably need to) Falcons - 1 game behind, they have a 2-5 conference record so we might be able to win a tiebreaker Saints - 1 game behind, has a 4-4 conference record so probably losing that tiebreaker Eagles - 0.5 games behind, has 4-4 conference record so same Panthers - 0.5 games behind, 3-5 conference record so potentially can win tiebreaker Giants - tied, can win H2H tiebreaker Seahawks - 1 game ahead, can win H2H tiebreaker They basically would need to finish the last 6 games 2 games better than WFT and Saints (so 4-2 requires both to go 2-4 or worse), 1.5 games better than Eagles (4-2 means 2-3), win both the Vikings games plus Giants and Seahawks. And hope the conference tiebreaker works out against Panthers and Falcons. First 2 games on the schedule: Arizona and GB. Is there a scenario where the Bears lose those 2 and then win the rest and make the playoffs? I guess but not very likely.
  17. Yikes...odds that he never dons a Cubs uniform again are high. Willson is totally going to be that former player that hits like 4 HR in every series that he faces the Cubs for the rest of his career.
  18. Oof. Guess the Cubs don't want any of those loser championship winning players around
  19. How are the ND players taking this?
  20. Who leaves while their previous team is still alive for the CFP?
  21. I think there was also a tweet saying that is the most pressures in a game since PFF started tracking them. Only in the biggest game of his career with everything on the line. That's the kind of horsefeathers that makes you a top 3 pick in the draft, and sure enough I saw a mock earlier that had him going number 1.
