  1. Somewhat related to the Bears because its Hub:
  2. Was he even close to returning from his injury? i had seen some talk of them targeting this mini break as a chance to get him some extra time and then coming back after that, but i've also heard he wasn't close, so who the hell knows. Yeah I don't think its a horrible thing to give him a few more days. The new protocols can have him back fairly quickly I believe. Next 3 games are Wizards, Mavs and Pistons. Not that those are guaranteed wins, but he can come back before the Brooklyn/GS games I'd be cool like that
  3. Was he even close to returning from his injury?
  4. I'd love it if he could ball out and we can go into the offseason with some momentum and good vibes (not to mention make us more attractive to HC candidates) Since its the Bears he will throw 3 INTs and fumble twice and the only person that will take our job is Mike Zimmer.
  5. Theory: Nagy knows that the McCaskeys hate to be scooped as evidenced when he was supposed to be fired before thanksgiving and then stayed on, so he leaked this report in hopes that the McCaskeys will say 'dammit we cant be scooped, now we have to keep Nagy"
  6. yep i think that's what happens. if the most recent reports are true, it seems like George is conflicted about Pace, really likes him but knows the organizational structure needs an overhaul. In the warped mind of Bears ownership this seems like a win-win. They keep Pace for big picture stuff, but hire a fresh mind for day to day GMing. I do think that this limits the quality of GM we can hire as Pace will likely still be seen as running the show (unless they make it clear he has little influence on day-to-day)
  7. Certainly his value was dipping pretty low the last couple of years. Given the forced pay cut that had to be humbling and his resurgence this season leading Michigan to the CFP (and sobering beatdown that exposed Michigan as still not where they need to be to compete for championships) it seems like a perfect storm for him to go back to the NFL. He's said all the right things about the pay cut and the desire to stay at Michigan forever, but that of course doesn't mean what he's said is true. Also as the defacto Michigan fan here, I have to point out that Harbaugh has done better than 8-4 in 5 of his 6 full seasons at Michigan. His UM resume certainly has its warts but I also think the perception of his performance is lower than it actually has been, likely due to the inability to consistently beat rivals. 10-3 10-3 8-5 10-3 9-4 12-2
  8. I'd be pretty upset with that hire. I can't imagine a less progressive move, digging into Bears history for a former player from a bygone era. Definitely not a fan. I think he's a floor raiser as a coach...possibly an immediate floor raiser. But I think he has to have a strong dedicated OC to run a good offense. Developing Fields is the most important thing for this org, and I'm not sure after watching Jim at Michigan for 7 years, he's the guy to get the most out of him. So he'd have to hire a great OC/QB coach and let him run wild. I know he's had success with QBs like Luck in the past, but his offensive numbers with the 49ers were rather pedestrian.
  9. Bears listed as one of the two teams. He's called Chicago his NFL dream job before. I have to say I like him a lot more at Michigan than in Chicago.
  10. I was just about to post the same thing. Crazy that they've been as good as they've been (look at their SRS rating numbers, they have a sizable lead over the Bulls) despite playing the toughest schedule so far.
  11. Most of the schedule difference for Milwaukee at this point is that they've already played 13 of their 16 games against the Pistons, Magic, Rockets, Thunder, Pelicans and Pacers (basically the only teams effectively out of contention at this point). Interesting. Quick count and the Bulls have played those teams 9 times so not too far behind but those 4 extra games might be the difference in winning the division.
  12. Yep, thanks to the schedule rework the Bulls have a stretch of 4 games in 5 days next week, 2 of which are against the Nets and Warriors. Pluss they haven't played the Bucks at all yet. 5-5 in the next 10 wouldn't be surprising. Just looking...we have 47 games left and of them, these are the tougher ones remaining: Milwaukee x4 Cleveland x3 Phoenix x2 Miami x2 Philadelphia x2 Brooklyn x2 Memphis x2 Golden State Utah Roughly 40% of the remaining schedule
  13. Love that we can come out and play a game that’s nowhere close to our best game and win
  14. There's a 99.9% chance that there is a thread title named "Guess what an idiot with a visor did this time" a week from today.
  15. Do they use the same tiebreakers as the ones they use for the playoffs? If so they’d have the same record, same H2H, same division record, same common games record, same conference record so it would come down to strength of victory which the Vikings are leading (current SOV for Minnesota is .436 Bears SOV is .354) Breaking it out even more, the Viking wins have a combined record of 13 games under .500, Bears wins have a combined record of 32 games under .500. Maybe possible for the Bears to catch up there but seems unlikely
  16. I keep seeing takes that Matt Nagy is such a good guy, and maybe he is outside of football (nice of him to make a donation to JDs kids charity this week), but horsefeathers like this dispels that he’s classy. There is no benefit to Peters playing. Sure winning is fine but best for the team is clearly not playing a 39 year old with no future on the team over your highly drafted rookie. The classy thing to do would be to do what’s actually best for the team even if you aren’t going to be around. But hey now Nagy will finish his Bears career with a record over .500 so that’s something to brag about when he’s the QB coach of the Texans next year He may give off the appearance of classy to the untrained eye but Matt Nagy is not classy when it comes to football.
  17. Someone is definitely going to lose their fantasy championship because Galaxy brain Nagy had his RB throw a pass out of the wildcat in the closing minutes of a 29-3 game lol
  18. Agreed. They’re whispering into the mic, it’s like listening to NPR It sounds like they’re calling some middle of the road PGA tournament. They should turn up the crowd noise or something.
  19. Just heroic how Nagy has been able to keep his guys playing hard. I’m telling you 7-10 puts him at like a 2% chance of saving his job. Bears org is that fucked up.
  20. Defense was pretty suspect tonight but we are missing our two best defenders right now. Ayo has been clutch but Zo and Caruso are All Defense type guys. Green is big for the defense too and he was out. Just finding ways to win, sign of a great team
  21. Watch Jordan Bell on both of those shots. He immediately comes running out and grabs the ball before celebrating lol
  22. Finished with 72 I believe. Need that extra big
  23. What the horsefeathers is this? Lmao Btw Ohio State is still by many metrics the 2nd best team in college football and best offense. Down year my ass
  24. You’re not honestly this naive are you? None of those things are why 5 stars go to Bama and Georgia. Well, ok, yes, other stuff too but if you believe the bagmen stories that stuff happens everywhere down there and yet they do it way better than the others (except Texas A&M this year apparently) NIL has pretty much eliminated the bag man concerns haven’t they? We’ll see if things change. Also with transfer rules changing perhaps we see 5 stars commit to Bama and then leave after 1-2 years because they are not playing enough. I do think that more teams in the playoffs will spread out the talent at least a little bit. Exposure of the playoffs isn’t a huge reason why blue chips choose Alabama but it’s definitely an additional advantage in their favor. Maybe a few players in California end up going to USC instead of Alabama for instance
