  1. Wait there's games going on already?
  2. So many little signings being made that I know on opening day I'm going to be like 'oh that guys on our team now?'
  3. I think most don't have much of a hope anymore, but does this effectively confirm we're out on Correa? Or not really a factor either way?
  4. 29 teams treat the luxury tax as a salary cap, one team pretends like it doesn’t exist. That Dodgers network really brought them a ton of money to invest in the team. The Cubs should do something like that then we’d be able to have a giant payroll.
  5. I tell you it is absolutely shocking the bulls might have mismanaged an injury. Unprecedented even
  6. Honestly, all they have to do is beat Toronto next week at home and they are probably making a top 6 seed as they'd clinch the tiebreaker. Also Cleveland is only 0.5 ahead of Toronto so they would have to pass us too for us to end up there.
  7. Maybe the Bears won’t horsefeathers this up?
  8. Joc Pederson to the Giants. Does that make Jorge Soler the last chance to get a former Cub position player back on the team? Wouldn’t be a bad move to sign him….
  9. With all the momentum about the Astros yesterday I fully expected him to have signed there already. Because he hasn’t to this point I’m wondering if there’s still a chance to get him
  10. I look forward to projecting what his numbers would look like if he would have stayed healthy for a full season
  11. Yep. That deal just screams “I’m taking the most money and that’s the only reason I’m going there”. Because my perception of the western United States is all skewed I thought maybe Colorado made sense as it’s close to Vegas and with twins on the way having family somewhat close by would be a perk but it appears Denver is about as far from LV as Chicago is from New York lol
  12. Dongs > winning I guess
  13. I'm sure PTR will spring for new kits after he sells off half the team
  14. Beautiful
  15. Lately, it seems, teams with early exits from the BTT have performed better in NCAA, leaves you to wonder the utility of the BTT besides it being a money making venture. Wouldn't be shocking at all to see the Illini and other teams that lost early in the BTT go further in the NCAA than Iowa or Purdue. I think its just an unrelated trend. Indiana played their 4th game in 6 days last night and won. Michigan won back to back Big Ten Tournaments playing 4 games in 4 days in 2017 and 2018. They were a shot away from the Elite 8 the first time and went to the National Championship game the 2nd time.
  16. Sounds like Jones' concussion was suffered in practice between the BTT and going to Indy for the 1st round
  17. We're gonna lull the opposition to sleep Has to be an intentional strategy at this point
  18. With Scherzer at the deadline and now Suzuki, that’s two reported “done deals” that have fallen through for the Padres in the last few months. I’d be incredibly frustrated as a Padres fan. Obviously two very different caliber players, but yeah. Not to mention Tatis breaking his wrist in a motorcycle accident right before spring training starts. Shitty time to be a Pads fan. Well, its shitty to be a Pads fans most of the time but 2020 gave them some actual hope before crushing it.
  19. The ZIPS projections are interesting and have him pegged at 2.6 WAR next year. Assuming he'll be replacing Heyward, that's 0.5-0.7 wins more than Heyward gave the Cubs between 2018-2019 (throwing out 2020 because of the short season but he was on pace for 5.5 wins over a 162 game season, which we know he wouldn't have hit) Is that a lot more production? I know WAR is an inexact science and projecting a player coming over from Japan is even more inexact, but that doesn't seem like a huge improvement over what we've been getting from JHey
  20. Not according to this:
  21. The question is, why did they all decline their offers and according to Jed in some cases even decline to counter? I can understand if it was one player but all 3 of them? And likely Willson too?
  22. which is probably why he's out liking tweets about him being lowballed. He's bitter as he realizes he's not getting anything close to what the Cubs offered. Also I'm horrible and a hypocrite but I still want him back as long as its not a ridiculous amount. I can completely understand why many don't want him back though. I just want one of those guys back whether its KB, Rizzo, Schwarber. Javy would have been my top choice but that ship has obviously sailed.
  23. I’m so out of touch. Had no idea who that was except the lead singer of Coldplay
