  1. He did have a really nice AB yesterday with the bases loaded. Worked a 3-2 count and then hit a 103.5mph liner that had a .660 xBA but was caught by an OF. Given that the Cubs went out of their way to retain him from the Dodgers he’s going to get his shots I think
  2. Ugh I’m not sure if I like that aggressive decision by Seiya or not
  3. And while I hated trading away Bryzzo and Javy over a 24 hour period at the last possible moment, this is sort of what I was hoping for. Jed had the opportunity to build an offense exactly as he wanted it to be given the massive amount of money to spend, the lack of cornerstone players to build around, and the desire to not go into a long rebuild. For several years he and Theo were stuck with their best players having similar flaws and no room to really build around them with different types of players. Still not sure why they did not pull the plug earlier when they could have gotten a better return and possibly salvaged some of the championship core but whatever.
  4. That one to Cron in the 7th inning almost cost the Cubs the game. Annoying.
  5. the fact that they were 1st in the east for a while is not indicative of the quality of this team. I’m not ready to blow it up at all. There is a foundation for a good team here, it needs to be tweaked. Swap out Vuc for a different big, acquire another shooter and depth on the bench. You won’t win a title like that but I think the goal is to be competent for long enough to be a viable destination for a star. Blowing it up and relying on the lottery is probably another 2-4 years in the wilderness, away from NBA relevancy and as we just saw you might end up with absolutely nothing for all that tanking.
  6. I don’t *think* the officials are going to overturn a foul call and award a foul to Giannis that fouls him out of the game, but you have to try.
  7. I mean that’s been his game all season except he was making those shots
  8. I didn’t expect to see them and Vuc combine to shoot 29% (21-71). That was horrendous even for playoff demar
  9. Just wish he’d hit more open 3s. He’s 2-10 from 3
  10. Seems like the Cubs should have more than 5 runs in this game. Didn’t concern me too much when it was 5-0 but now it does
  11. Feel bad for Hermosillo. He’s had some good ABs and has hit some good balls but still hitless for the year and clearly looks frustrated
  12. We just leaving this kid in to get shelled?
  13. Yes! 100% agree, I don’t understand that decision at all unless Suzuki is hurt and couldn’t play the field. If he was only intended to be used for 1 PA today and nothing else the 5th inning with 1st base open is a complete waste of his PA And look who pops up to end the game
  14. Number of 5+ ER outings for Stro last season: 1 So I guess that means he’s got it out of his system for the season Also there’s this:
  15. 1 strike from getting out of it again. Damn
  16. 1 strike from getting out of it ugh
  17. The general feeling out there seems to be 'lets move on' and that's completely fair, but thought these comments from Javy were interesting: https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/cubs/javy-baez-cubs-talks-we-were-5-days-getting-it-done Sounds like the 'biblical losses' caused the Cubs to back down on previous extension talks. Article also mentions that after Bryant extension talks went nowhere in 2016-2017 it seemed like a foregone conclusion that he would leave and there wasn't much discussion after that. Last offseason they tried to get something done with Rizzo at a discount but rightly so it went nowhere. This tracks with what we've known, just further confirmation.
  18. Yeah I didn’t understand why he faced McMahon. Guess Ross showing a little trust in him plus it’s only the 5th inning. But definitely didn’t look comfortable out there I believe McMahon was his 3rd batter, he had to face him. 4th. The fielders choice, a double and a walk followed by another walk
  19. Schwindel with a little 2021 vibes
  20. Yeah I didn’t understand why he faced McMahon. Guess Ross showing a little trust in him plus it’s only the 5th inning. But definitely didn’t look comfortable out there
  21. I haven’t felt comfortable with Roberts out there yet so it concerned me that he was coming in that situation. A single (essentially), double and a run later and I don’t feel more comfortable
