Mets fans are livid at the Cubs for not accepting their crappy package of non-prospects. That alone makes keeping Willson worthwhile. I'm sure the Mets FO assumed that the Cubs would have come down as the clock ticked towards the deadline because everyone was so certain the Cubs would trade him no matter what. They played chicken with Jed and lost.

Somehow I find myself more interested in this team and training camp than I have over the last few years. I guess there are so many unknowns with a new FO, new coaching staff, 2nd year QB and gutted roster that its interesting to see what pieces pan out and whether we can unearth some gems. Like Braxton Jones has been the only OL getting LT snaps the first 2 padded practices. Are they really going to have a 5th round rookie start at LT? Did Poles find something, or is he going to get Fields killed midway through the first quarter of the Bears 1st preseason game?

Gotta be the worst case scenario for Willy. No international draft means the QO stays, lessening his FA value. Spends 2 weeks mentally preparing for a trade that never comes. Now has to play out the string on a bad team instead of a playoff contender and go into the FA market with a depressed value compared to how it seemed going into the season.

I don’t mind the trade in a vacuum but not really the moves of a team that is “retooling”. But that has been obvious for awhile. Tough to lose a controllable reliever pitching so well but it’s the pen so meh

Would be hilarious (not hilarious) if they managed to trade for the contracts of Goldschmidt, Arenado and future contract of Soto while still managing to get a nearly annual competitive balance draft pick.

Arenado and Goldschmidt aren't able to play in Toronto for some reason. I will happily laugh nervously at this knowing the Cubs trip to Toronto is still to come. Though by then we won't know who half the people on the team are.

2008 was my favorite. I think it went 13 innings, Uggla made all those errors, Marmol and Dempster got critical outs, etc. Similar to 2016 we had a very vested interest in the winner (or so we thought at the time)

Fields thread. I think he makes some good points. Hopefully his mechanical changes help him be better in the pocket but also hopefully he's allowed to run an offense that better fits his strengths.

ok then, I guess what I saw was ultimately wrong. I don't blame him for leaving after the stuff that happened off the ice plus the beginning of what appears to be a long gut rebuild. Though Seattle is an interesting choice.

Eddie O is leaving the Blackhawks to be the Kraken color guy. From what I saw on Twitter it sounds like the Blackhawks did not renew his contract and that’s why he’s leaving. If so, very strange decision
