    I have no idea what this podcast is but they interviewed David Ross and actually got some quotes from him about why Heyward plays all the time.

    Oh I agree, I was trying to tee up mockery with the fewest possible page views on his end. Damn it, I clicked before reading your recap. I wanted to slap him within a couple of paragraphs. One of my favorite parts is that he ends the article with a highlight of Sam Fuld making a diving catch as if that has anything to do with the point he's making with the article. Like wtf?

    Posting so jersey doesn't feel like he's talking to himself in this thread. Seems like a solid hire but the Blackhawks are so so far away from anything resembling competency that its hard to care, especially because I'm already sick of following the Cubs and Bears rebuilds.

    Not feeling super confident about Lonzo's knee for next season.... AK also mentioned continuity several times including when asked if Vuc is going to be the starting C next year. Could just be posturing but it seems like they really do want to run it back with a few changes in FA. He mentioned wanting size in FA, which is absolutely a need. But I would argue shooting is just as much of a need even if Lonzo and Zach are back.

    Willson is going to be interesting. Like you pointed out, he's always been considered a tier below players like Bryant and the whole trading for catchers thing. In additional several contenders have solid options in place and probably aren't looking to add someone like Contreras. Toronto - Kirk Yankees - Trevino Braves - d'Arnaud and William C Dodgers - Will Smith Brewers - Caratini is having a solid year But I guess all it takes is one team that desperately needs a catcher to bite on Willson's career year.

    In 2014, Al Yellon wrote a letter suggesting that Theo Epstein should be fired. After being mocked endlessly, the Cubs went on to win the World Series in 2016. Now... Cubs 2024 World Series champs incoming! Among his arguments for firing Jed, he mentions the Cubs being forced to take BP on a day when it was 97 degrees out lol

    Thank goodness for Apple TV making the barrier to watch games slightly more difficult which will remove any likelihood that my kids will want me to put on the game. David Bote has been added to the active roster so now we get to watch both of the young players that Theo and Jed managed to extend tonight as Hendricks is starting.

    It's insane that all 3 are on this roster and for the most part all playing regularly. It's like they are in a contest to see who can hurt the team more. Villar is terrible offensively and defensively. Heyward is terrible offensively and now below replacement level defensively. Simmons actually provides solid defense but his offensive numbers are inconceivably bad even compared to the other 2.

    I don't think he has to leave for it to work. They can still sign him and in fact would probably have to for Durant to come here without causing a fuss. Ball LaVine Durant Caruso? Gobert Ayo Green Marko MLE LLE Ring chaser 1 Ring chaser 2 For MLE, maybe something like Batum who is older but coming off a solid season and is a guy who can play well without needing to score. He can start at the 3 or 4 and move AC to the bench. Not sure who the ring chasers would be though. Again, really thin team that would have some holes, particularly a higher volume 3 point shooter and size off the bench. But even with those holes the Bulls would be an inner circle championship contender.

    Bulls get: Durant, Gobert Jazz get: Vucevic, DeRozan Nets get: Williams, White, 2022 1st, 2023 POR 1st, Rudy Gay (to make salaries work) The Nets say no because they can probably do better than the young chips the Bulls have and 2 non-lottery 1sts, the Jazz might say no (though it does change their dynamic while keeping talent level at roughly the same spot to keep Mitchell happy), Jerry Reinsdorf says no. But that's the closest deal I can put together where the Bulls end up with both guys haha. Bulls would still have biannual MLE (i think) and LLE but it would clearly be a very thin team unless we grabbed some ring chasers on minimum salary

    Pirates are up 1-0 in the 3rd. Steele has struck out 4 of the 7 batters he's faced but the one base runner was a home run. Discuss. Or don't discuss, it doesn't really matter

    Smart move by Robertson to strike out. If he took a walk he would never have an official AB.

    Keegan Thompson has pitched at least 2.2 IP in 15 of his 16 appearances this year. He has allowed 1 ER or less in 12 of those 15 appearances. Also while it makes no sense to just throw out his 2 worst starts, it does seem like he had a velo drop and some weird stuff going on and has bounced back. So if you did remove those 2 bad starts, his ERA in the other 56.1 IP this year is 1.73

    Figures that after all the 2016 heroes were cast aside, Heyward is the one Cubs management stays loyal to until the very end.
