  1. I'm sort of in the same boat. I mean, I get why people who love baseball would want to watch their favorite team play baseball, especially now when there's literally nothing else going on. But I just can't bring myself to watch. I just have no interest in this team right now. I’m not going to tell anyone how to fan. I mostly tune out the games but if I happen to be doing something else I’ll occasionally have the game on in the background. Sometimes my kids ask me to turn it on. Never a priority and never emotionally invested in it but I’ll miss baseball in the winter so I dont have a problem watching an inning or two here and there.
  2. This feels like too much of a feel good win for it to happen. I expect Robertson to blow it
  3. Ownership is completely on board with the plan for this season, so nobody is going to get fired. Whatever you may think about Ross' in-game managerial skills, firing him would be a bad look. This team clearly has a roster problem more than a manager problem. My bigger concern is that I have zero trust in Hoyer to identify the right players once the team is ready to compete. His misses have been very concerning. I would prefer to move on from him sooner than later, but that simply isn't going to happen. Yeah no one will be fired because the season was ultimately meaningless but the team turning out to be this bad is not a good look. It could ultimately hasten one of their departures if things continue this way for the next 1-2 seasons.
  4. The Yankees havent had a 10+ game losing streak since 1913. The Cubs are 1 game away from doing it 4 times in 2 seasons.
  5. Since the Cubs 6-4 start, they have gone 28-52 which is a 56-106 pace over 162 games. And this is before the selloff.
  6. Cubs have scored 4 runs on this homestand in 4 games
  7. Has any team ever had 4 different 10+ game losing streaks in a 13 month span?
  8. Suckiest bunch of sucks who ever sucked
  9. With the caveat that Juan Soto should absolutely treated differently than any other player in baseball including Trout (due to age), it seems very anti-Jed to trade your top 5 prospects and give out a 10+ year $500m deal for a single player.
  10. Have to admit Road to Wrigley on Marquee is pretty cool. Getting to watch 4 Cubs teams at once that are all infinitely more interesting than the Chicago team
  11. Just for fun...fWAR of Cubs 2021 deadline and offseason acquisitions: Hitters: Villar: -0.7 Simmons: -0.3 Gomes: -0.3 Madrigal: -0.2 Frazier: -0.1 Suzuki: 0.9 Total: -0.7 WAR Pitchers: Stroman: 0.6 Miley: 0.5 Smyly: 0.4 Robertson: 0.5 Martin: 0.5 Givens: 0.1 Chavez: -0.1 Norris: -0.3 Total: 2.2 WAR Combined: 1.5 WAR for roughly $76.8m in 2022 salary Obviously this would be a bit better if our starting pitchers were healthy, but otherwise yikes...
  12. 3 runs scored in 24 innings this homestand so far
  13. Yikes bad turn through the rotation for Steele and Keegan
  14. I always kind of root for the Orioles whenever they are good. Happy for them if they are turning the corner.
  15. Pretty certain they retain the cap hit in that situation https://www.capfriendly.com/faq#retained
  16. It's better for the Blackhawks to trade Kane but whatever. At least fans can enjoy Kane and possibly Toews instead of having to root for the Blackhawks version of Frank Schwindel and Rafael Ortega
  17. What a surprise the Cubs take the lead and then lose. I’ve never seen a team lose so many games they’ve led
  18. Not that he's infallible but if Bill Belichick is dumping a 2019 1st round pick for a 7th rounder I'm pretty sure he sucks. But whatever, like pointed out its very low risk with a small chance of unlocking that potential. His skill set does fit well opposite Mooney if he can prove he can start.
  19. This image represents how I feel about them:
  20. --- Great to see Bryant's season line coming together too...He just had or is having twins soon? Good horsefeathers Wait wtf Alex Lange is a thing now? Always wondered if Theo-era Cubs were worse at drafting or developing. Seems to be some strong evidence it was the latter
  21. Lots of smoke that Kane is asking for a trade on Wednesday. Crazy how much talent the Blackhawks, Cubs and even Bears have traded or given away over the last calendar year Rizzo Baez Bryant Kimbrel A. Robinson Mack DeBrincat Dach Keith Kane? Toews? Massive exodus of talent in Chicago
  22. I'm glad the Bulls didn't horsefeathers around. Now Zach knows he's appreciated by the Bulls... I think there were slightly bad vibes about having to go out and sign an offer sheet with the Kings last time around to get his deal, though I understand why the Bulls did that given that he was only here for a half a season and coming off of major surgery at that point. But I do think/wonder how things would have gone if the Bulls pushed back about the player option or even worse, the max contract. He probably still signs with the Bulls but he almost certainly visits other teams and makes them a little nervous.
  23. A Theo drafted pitcher finally made the all star team - congrats Paul Blackburn
