  1. Yeah I should have thought through the timing on the Succession thread. I thought with the episode airing that night it would work, and maybe we'd get a couple days out of it. Drew Smyly at 8:15 tonight:
  2. Understanding "star power" is not the same as production necessarily, Dansby's WAR last year would have been the 3rd best season in Ryno's career 😅. Both defensive MI with respectable amount of pop in the bat, The Sosa match will be a little tougher...if Bellinger randomly despite no signs of this being possible turned back into MVP form maybe
  3. Good news is Toronto has one more layup against Charlotte but their their last 3 games are @ Boston, @ Boston, vs Milwaukee. Both of those teams are fighting for the number 1 seed. Bulls have that critical game against Atlanta, then 2 tougher games @ Milwaukee and @ Dallas (who is really struggling but fighting to make the play-in) before finishing against Detroit who is trying to lock in top lottery odds. Would need something like a 3-1 Bulls finish combined with a 1-3 Raptors finish OR 2-2 and 1-3 with Atlanta also tying the Raptors and Bulls (assuming one of the Bulls wins is against Atlanta) Finally Atlanta has the Bulls game, then Washington and Philadelphia at home and finishing at Boston
  4. lol they were down 23 when I posted that. What a comeback!
  5. Incredible win, being down 23 and now leading by 21. if they beat the Hawks in their next game they have a really good shot of at least getting the 9 seed as it would clinch the tiebreaker against the Hawks, and clinch the 3 team tiebreaker between the Raptors and Hawks. standings right now 8. Raptors - - 9. Hawks 0.5 10. Bulls 1.0
  6. Not really. A bunch of FV 50 players means MLB regulars which is great. FV 65-70 players are future franchise cornerstones the exact players the Cubs desperately lack right now they had 3-4 of them during the last rebuild, 0 now at least that’s how I understand it, I’m not a prospect guru
  7. Gotta love the “we’re down 7 runs so the offense finally puts some hits together to make the overall numbers look more respectable
  8. Just pulling from FG but in 2014 the Cubs had the 4th, 6th, 8th, 22nd best prospects in baseball. In 2015 they had the 1st, 3rd, 13th, 21st best prospects. this year PCA is 14 and the next best is 73rd. KB was a 70 FV prospect, Russell 65. PCA is a 60 The Cubs had a staggering amount of elite level talent in 2014-2015. They just don’t now. Doesn’t mean there’s not plenty of good stuff going on down there and players to be excited about though.
  9. Well despite not scoring for the first 16 innings of the series the Brewers have outscored the Cubs 11-7 so far lol
  10. That’s why I’m certain the retool is ultimately going to take longer than the rebuild, if it even works at all. Cubs have some good things going for them for sure but they simply don’t have enough impact talent either in the majors or the farm
  11. Merryweather leaves his first appearance of the year with a 67.50 ERA for the season after allowing 5 ER in 0.2 IP
  12. Good news is you can also watch the Bulls get blown out if you get bored of the Cubs getting blown out. Typical Chicago sports fans dilemma. LSU/Iowa it is
  13. Flipping back to the game and seeing the Brewers hit a 2 run single to blow open the game
  14. I understand the whole Leiter reverse splits thing but it seems crazy to me that we don’t have a lefty in the pen.
  15. I feel like I got a little spoiled watching our starters going 6 IP with 0 ER
  16. I thought I remembered when the Cubs signed him that his range was actually rather average, but he was elite at making plays that he got to. Doesn't seem to be the case with some of the plays he's made so far.
  17. Had a random discussion with some friends about it and wanted to see if anyone had an opinion on the following question: Is Jed "trying" this year? Did he build this team with the intent to make the playoffs? My response was that it was similar to last year where we built a team with the hope that the pieces fit well enough to be in the hunt by the deadline. If we were then we might buy, otherwise, we sell. Obviously, this year is a little bit further along with some of our additions. We don't have as much garbage on the roster in 2023, but there are still obvious holes on the team. I think Jed hopes to win, but if you caught him at a candid moment he'd admit that the team is more likely than not to miss the playoffs and that he's still building and ideally targeting next year to "try".
  18. Yan Gomes hitting 5th, our 3rd string catcher starting at DH, Patrick Wisdom in RF, the 2023 Chicago Cubs everyone!
  19. Mad Men has failed us Long live Succession Yes Greg the Egg, for real. Big (for the Cubs) FA signing Jameson Taillon makes his Cubs debut vs. one of the random Brewers pitchers I don't really pay any attention to because they aren't Burnes or Woodruff. Oh horsefeathers my bad, no more Mad Men... Dansby Swanson, probably: My prediction, the Cubs will win 7-4 (btw, holy horsefeathers there are so many good Succession gifs that are fitting for game threads in the gif searcher, enjoy)
  20. I’m just glad you allowed permanent editing so I am guaranteed to be correct at the end
  21. This is being overly negative about a single loss in the 2nd game of the season, not trying to take too much out of one loss at all, but it made me look up the winning percentage of Theo’s 3 year gut rebuild and compare it to Jed’s 1.5 year “don’t call it a rebuild” retool Theo: .412 winning % (68-94 average over 162 games) Jed: .432 winning % (70-92 average)
