The Happ hitting 3rd conversation is mostly over but I still don’t like it when he’s hitting 3rd against lefties. He’s still terrible hitting righty. not sure how the Rockies bullpen is set up in terms of handedness though, Blach is a 5 inning guy so maybe the matchups later in the game make him hitting 3rd better

Blach gave up 3 ER in 5 IP against the Cubs in Colorado. He followed that up with 7 ER in 3.2 IP against San Diego.

looks like they are lining up Stroman to start Game 1 of the WC series if they make it (and if Steele has to pitch on Sunday thus missing the WC round)

That’s a cool factoid but you can’t ignore that they went 3-10 against a 84ish win team. You’re right they aren’t a bad team they are probably slightly below average with a -93 RD for the season. Much better than I expected them to be this season though

I saw the Cubs at around 63% playoff odds before the Marlins win. They dropped 5% due to that. Here is FG playoff odds after tonight: Arizona - 81.9% Cubs - 58.1% Miami - 51.9% Cincinnati - 7.1% San Diego - 0.6% San Francisco - 0.5% SD game just ended and they lost so they might drop and the Cubs might get an extra percentage point or two.

Man I’d feel so good about the Cubs right now if the Brewers finished off that game. At least we’ve brought Arizona back into the mix so it’s 3 teams playing for 2 spots separated by 2 games. We deserve some good karma for being the odd man out in the “4 teams playing for 3 NLDS spots” derby in 2018

Ryan Day sounds like he’s cutting a wrestling promo. Pretty sure he just challenged Lou Holtz to a match at Wrestlemania. What a game, I don’t even care who won, that was really entertaining.

Marlins win on a wild pitch so the Cubs lead will stay at 1 game. Gotta win tomorrow and hope the Brewers win. Going into that last week gauntlet would be a lot better with a 2 game lead

Big props to Ian Happ, that double in the 8th scores the runner more often than it doesn’t but he played it perfectly and prevented the runner from scoring

Luckily it looks like Houston not only will still be fighting for the division (TEX/SEA play 6 more against each other) but they might be playing for their playoff lives in that final series against Arizona. The White Sox are 5-15 in September so I don’t expect any help there.

If the Cubs go 4-3 the rest of the year, 2 of these 3 things need to happen to eliminate the Cubs: Marlins 6-2 (or 5-2 if they win today) Reds 6-1 Diamondbacks 4-4

Well if the Brewers lose today, they will play their starters tomorrow. If they come back and win, the Cubs lead over the Marlins will increase to 2. Not quite win-win but at least somewhat helpful
