  1. We don't have enough high leverage relievers we can trust. It's really just Alzolay, Merryweather, Leiter and sometimes Fulmer. He has to pitch in that spot out of necessity
  2. This is why it wasn't cool for the Royals to hang around all weekend and use up all of our high leverage pen arms
  3. Had to be Javy. So much for high leverage Fulmer.
  4. ok well got that call which was much much worse
  5. Maybe he shouldn't have thrown the other 3 way outside
  6. Bases loaded 0 outs come the horsefeathers on
  7. Fulmer gets 2 strikes on every player then starts throwing balls 6 inches off the plate WTF
  8. This last week of Cubs baseball has felt like survive and advance
  9. The offense just hoping to coast to the finish line just like yesterday I guess lol 3 hits today and their 4 runs scored on an error, wild pitch, double and solo HR
  10. I know...I'm just saying...its time, especially after another hard hit just now.
  11. Oh how poetic, Javy grounds out to his equally good defensive replacement. But then Dansby boots it 😞
  12. And yes now a fantastic goal. Love it
  13. Pulisic with a nice dump in which immediately led to a goal in the first few minutes of his first Serie A match
  14. He's basically Rob Deer with a little more walking and a little more power Rob Deer first 9 seasons: .222/.326/.450/.776, 112 OPS+, 1210 K, 205 HR, 536 RBI, 12.0 bWAR Schwarber career (9 seasons): .226/.337/.486/.823, 119 OPS+, 1079 K, 231 HR, 522 RBI, 10.8 bWAR Schwarbs has 118 less PA than Deer did in his first 9 seasons.
  15. This sounds crazy and I might change my mind in 5 minutes, but I don't even really care if a WC series is played at Wrigley. I'm more concerned with opponent matchups. Don't get me wrong its always at least a little better to be at home but HFA doesnt matter as much to me as it would for the other sports. Of course this is partially brought on by faulty logic jammed in my brain remembeing that the Cubs are 0-5 in their last 5 playoff games at Wrigley (including Game 163 in 2018), having watched the Dodgers, Brewers, Rockies and Marlins celebrate advancing in the playoffs and in 3 of those cases eliminating the Cubs on our field during that span.
  16. Yeah the pitching has held up of late, albeit against 2 pretty bad teams. Detroit has scored the 2nd fewest runs in baseball so hoping that continues. Javy is having an absolutely terrible offensive season but could definitely see him getting up for these games, though I said the same thing about Velasquez this weekend and he didn't really do anything so we'll see.
  17. Seiya since his mental rest: 11-32 (.344), 3 HR, 5 total XBH, 6 RBI, only 4 K. Slash line .344/.353/.759/1.112 Small sample size but good stuff. Him coming out of his slump as some of the others have been struggling has been really helpful.
  18. Detroit is interesting. Their record isn’t as bad as you’d think and they’ve won 8 of their last 12 games against the Twins, Guardians and Red Sox. They had a 2-13 stretch in early-June which included a 9 game losing streak. Outside of that stretch they are 55-54 At the same time, their RD for the season is over -100 so they should probably have a much worse record than they do.
  19. Is he even on the 40 man roster anymore? I don’t think he is, which makes it that much more difficult to call him up. He’s not hitting well enough at Iowa (relative to guys like Mervis and Young who are on the 40 man) to force the issue either.
  20. Is tomorrow really the first time Javy will face the Cubs since he left? Edit: come to think of it, Bryant is the only one of the Big 3 that has even played at Wrigley since the trades and that was only a couple weeks after the trade. Hopefully KB is playing when we play at Wrigley in September. Riz and Javy will have to wait for next year to get their return trip to Wrigley
