  1. Wow almost allowed bases loaded 0 outs situation. Come on Happ
  2. Knew the bunt was coming. One of the few situations where I dont *hate* a bunt but dont love either with Happ on deck. Also never having a sacrifice bunt before is concerning
  3. Also with Merryweather, Leiter and Adbert burned (after the 9th), the options for pen guys after that get scary.
  4. Yeah and the Brewers had a bunch of lefties coming up. I didn't hate the decision though I can understand why you'd stick with Merryweather as well as he's pitched lately and an off day tomorrow.
  5. And the Brewers have all their high leverage pen guys ready
  6. From 2 outs and no one on to bases loaded. Killing me
  7. Ugh we're really gonna try to win a 2-1 game after winning a 1-0 game with all runs scored in the 1st inning aren't we? lol
  8. Yeah we got the lead and the bullpen will finish them off, lets hurry this thing up so I can get another hour of work done before the end of the day.
  9. This is the nuance I love about baseball. Hendricks goes down 3-1 to the opening hitter of the 6th, throws an absolutely perfect pitch to nick the bottom right corner of the zone and then induces a popup. If he walks the leadoff hitter, the inning immediately gets a lot more dangerous, but by a hair he manages to get the out. Then he does the exact same thing with Telez except get gets the strikeout this time.
  10. Cubs offense is going to drool at the thought of going to GABP and facing the Reds pitching staff after this series
  11. I hope he makes exactly $16,000,000 for 1 season. Though I know others disagree
  12. Woodruff at 68 through 4 IP. Can we work him one of the next 2 innings and get him out after 6 please? Edit: is he still on any pitch limits by chance? This is his 5th start since returning so I'm guessing not.
  13. Wow I literally turned it off for like 5 minutes to work on some work stuff and turned it back on expecting to see the end of the Brewers half of the inning. Instead there's 2 outs in the Cubs half of the inning lol
  14. Seiya is 5-6 lifetime against Woodruff lol nvm jinxed him, but he got good contact on it
  15. Number 3 hitting stud Ian Happ with the RBI double
  16. He's definitely been a Brewers tormenter. They have gotten to him at times, especially 2021 and 2022, but he's mixed in many truly dominant performances against them
  17. I disagree that its must win for the division. Of course its a bit of a dagger if they are down 5 with 29 to go (I've seen people say 30 and 31 to go but today is game 133), but with 3 H2H games to play, you are really looking at making up 2 games in the next 26 games, then you at least control your destiny going into the final 3 games. Yes that then requires you to sweep the Brewers which is not at all easy but its in our hands at least. Also to note, if the Cubs lose today, they will be 4-6 against the Brewers and will need to sweep them to win the H2H tiebreaker. If they win today, they'll only need to win the final series of the season to win the H2H tiebreaker.
  18. Thursday is going to be wild when claims can be made. There are not necessarily stars out there but quite a few players that can make a difference in October there for the taking. Like Clevinger is a piece of horsefeathers so not sure if I want him but he would immediately be the Cubs number 2 starter if he somehow fell to us. If anything it’s a bit unnerving that the Reds or DBacks will have a chance to grab a pitcher with 2.9 bWAR this year for nothing and make their team better. The good news about the volume of guys out there is that there will likely be at least 1-2 players of value that will fall to the Cubs if they choose to grab them.
  19. Lol they seriously let Cobb throw 131 pitches? I mean they let him stay in and through another 6 pitches even after the no hitter and shutout were over
