  1. With off days coming up tomorrow and Monday, do you give your starters an extra day of rest or do you use it as a way to skip Taillon's next start? It's horsefeathers crunch time, I don't want him starting any more games than absolutely necessary.
  2. Again, thank you Kris Bryant for coming back to horsefeathers over your previous team. I totally get why but horsefeathers
  3. No not a surprise. They've been playing poorly for about a month now. Not every day, not every part of the team, but as a whole they have not played that well. A light schedule and some luck in close games covered this up quite well but it looks like that luck is changing. Hopefully they can use the off days coming up to recharge and get hot the last 2 weeks because I'm not sure they make it to the finish line the way the team is playing right now. Only saving grace is the other WC contenders are also thoroughly mediocre
  4. Rockies terrible pitching has retired 11 of the last 12 Cubs. Holy hell get me to this off day
  5. Bellinger definitely did not shorten up his 2 strike swing there
  6. At least the Tigers have Eduardo Rodriguez going tonight against the Reds Connor Phillips who got lit up in his first career start last time out. Giants are losing 5-1 (I thought it was a night game, whoops).
  7. After losing 2 series over a 2 month span, they're about to lose back to back series with one of them being against the worst team in the NL. The team is running on fumes right now. This is the 27th game for the Cubs in the last 27 days.
  8. The good news is that losing the tiebreaker to the Rockies isn't going to matter
  9. Damn, I ignored the game hoping to come back to a comfortable lead. Man we suck hard right now.
  10. I was thrilled to have PCA up but wasn't looking forward to him getting ABs in key spots like he has several times this series.
  11. Not taking advantage of a bases loaded 1 out situations gonna hurt
  12. David Ross is not going to have the patience for PCA striking out looking with the bases loaded
  13. Bases loaded and 1 out for PCA. No K's or GIDPs please
  14. 55% of Wisdom's PAs this year have been one of the 3 true outcomes. He chooses walk this time.
  15. Another out on the bases, thats 5 this series...
  16. Except Seiya who looks at 2 straight strikes
  17. Good start Morel. Couldn't score on a single though, hopefully he's not stranded at 3rd
  18. Other relevant games today: 2:45 CT - Guardians @ Giants (SF 3.5 GB w/o tiebreaker) 5:40 CT - Reds @ Tigers (CIN 3.0 GB own tiebreaker) 5:40 CT - Braves @ Phillies (PHI 1.5 GA own tiebreaker) 6:10 CT - Diamondbacks @ Mets (ARI 2.0 GB own tiebreaker by going 1-2 or better this weekend) 6:40 CT - Marlins @ Brewers (MIA 3.5 GB own tiebreaker - Brewers 4.0 GA, own tiebreaker by going 2-1 or better at end of season) Worst case scenario: Cubs end the night with a 1 game cushion over WC3, 2 game cushion over playoff cut line, 2.5 GB Phillies for WC1, 5 GB Brewers in Central) Best case scenario: Cubs end the night with a 3 game cushion over WC3, 4 game cushion over playoff cut line, 0.5 GB Phillies for WC1, 4 GB Brewers in Central - Or if you care more about the division, 3.5 game cushion over playoff cut line and 3 GB Brewers in Central)
  19. How many players do the Bears have that are top 10 in the league at their position? 0? Maybe Edmunds? I think Jaylen Johnson is underrated but not sure he's a top 10 corner. DJ Moore is good but I can easily name 10 WRs I like more. Way too soon to rip Poles for this draft but I remember there being quite a few headscratchers on draft night...hopefully his evaluations are right and they develop into good talents. This team has a lot more solid football players on it which should theoretically raise the floor of the team, but not as much the ceiling. And its hard to not have more solid football players when last year 60% of the roster were cast offs and practice squad caliber guys
  20. You risk losing him....or maybe it helps him realize that he's in a contract year and doesn't want his big payday to be a 1 year prove it deal after he's a healthy scratch the last 16 games of the season.
  21. PCA back in the lineup today but Wisdom and Amaya too. Expected Amaya with the day game but that might be a rough bottom 3 of the lineup (or maybe PCA will get it going with the bat!)
  22. Yeah the offense hasn't regularly looked the same since the Braves series, though they have had moments of competence. Breakdown using my favorite arbitrary start/endpoints ( i can see your eyes rolling): First 93 games of the season: .247/.325/.398/.722 Next 19 games of the season: .303/.376/.531/.907 Since then (34 games): .244/.308/.413/.721 Of course that first 93 games contained a hot streak to start the season, a terrible may, a middling June before starting the 19 game hot streak during the Nationals series in July. It's just a very streaky offense.
  23. Speaking of benching Claypool:
  24. Yeah, missed practice doesn't excuse the effort that we saw. What message does it send to the players when a guy was so blatantly loafing it during a game to the detriment of the team and gets to keep playing? Especially for a team with a coach that constantly talks about not loafing it on the field being one of his defining principles. If he's not held accountable the team will notice.
