  1. Last year at the Brewers series, my friends and I spent 3 different days betting a Brewers reliever named Crawford that he was going to get in the game, and he said he wouldn't. My friend jokingly tried to drop 10 bucks into the outfield in game 2 to pay up when he didn't get in Game 1 and Crawford waved it off. Also, we asked Carlos Lee where his steroids were and he jokingly told us to shush, then pretended to inject himself. Good times all around. LOL!! Thats the funniest thing I've read today (well its only 9:30 but still) To continue on Mark's story, the Blue Jays pitching coach gave the heckler a ball eventually, but the fan continued to heckle him anyway. After awhile, Scott Showenweis (sp) was running sprints where the guy was standing. The guy started shouting that he runs like a girl and Scott (or the pitching coach, I don't remember) turned to him and said, "you should be the one running these sprints fatass" and then pointed to the fans obviously round belly.
  2. Last WS Title - Mil: Never, Cubs: 1908 Last Playoff Appearence - Mil: 1982, Cubs: 2003 Last Division Title - Mil: 1982, Cubs: 2003 Last over .500 record - Mil: 1992, Cubs: 2004 Last Playoff Series Win - Mil: 1992, Cubs: 2003 Last 90 win season - Mil: 1992, Cubs: 1998 Number of +.500 seasons in last 10: Mil: 0, Cubs: 4 Finished Higher in Standings last 8 years: Mil: 3 Cubs: 5 Man the Cubs can take crap from a lot of teams, but the Brewers are not one of them. No disrespect to Brewers fans, but when you diss the Cubs based on relative performance between the two teams, I have to step in.
  3. I'm not one for "cool quirks". I hate Houston's park with the too short left field, train on tracks and hill in dead center. (Thank goodness they got rid of the flagpole on the field.) Or San Diego's left field corner with the warehouse hanging over the field. Or Arizona's pool just over the center field fence. At least the new Busch has fair and decent dimensions and didn't turn it into a homerun park to build up Albert Pujols' numbers. The initial indications are that it will be a balanced to slightly favoring the pitcher park. Yeah maybe quirks wasn't the right word. I dunno from looking at those pictures the park looks really bland and doesn't stand out to me from other recent ballparks. Maybe its just a result of the number of new ballparks around.
  4. Regarding MSU, I've seen worse regular seasons from them that have gotten them into Elite 8 and Final 4's. In fact, the one time they got bumped in the first round, they were a 5 seed I think losing to 12 seed Nevada (I think). They will show up come tournament time, as much as it pains me to say it. If Michigan doesn't beat Indiana on Saturday, they will be in danger of being replaced by IU for the 6th spot :(
  5. As far as the Illinois/Wisky jealousy goes, I've been on the other side of the equation living in NH bordering Massachusetts and of course Boston. We called them Massholes (am I allowed to say that? if not, edit please). We criticized them for driving too fast, and making trash of our state as they visited it (frequently). They called us rednecks and countryfolk. Very very similar. I like being on the FIB side :)
  6. Shush PACKERS fan
  7. Is it just me or is there really not much that stands out about the new Cardinals stadium? I looks like a PNC/Citizens/GAB mix to me. Will a Cardinals fan please tell me about some cool quirks or features with the new ballpark. As much as I hate the Cards, the Cubs deserve to play their arch rivals in a great ballpark all the time instead of 50% of the time.
  8. Great he's a Dusty guy. Say hello to our new main setup man
  9. I wouldn't count on winning one of those - not saying they can't or won't - just that losing both is a possibility. They better win the Purdue game because Michigan will be tough. Agreed. Purdue has been playing better since IU saw them last. And that will be tough on their senior (do they have any?) day. But that's a must win. Can't afford another bad loss. I'm actually not too stressed about the Michigan game. Davis owns Amaker. So did Weber and Izzo
  10. Thats a good point. There are two parts to this organization. The Cubs and the Cubbies. UD Reserved - Cubs Bleachers - Cubbies Signing the 7th inning stretch - Cubs Celebs singing the 7th inning stretch and random celebs interviews durin the bottom of the 7th when no one cares - Cubbies Believing the team can win the World Series - Cubs Wearing a believe wristband because its trendy and not because the proceeds goto charity - Cubbies Knowing the team went 6-3 on their last road trip - Cubs Saying 'hey remember that game when Sammy hit a HR while I got that chicks number" - Cubbies I could go on and on. Sorry to deviate from the topic of this thread
  11. If they are attempting to wean Santo into replacing Harry fulltime with the 7th inning stretch I'm all for it. Celebs singing was cool for a bit, but its become a mockery of itself, and the bottom of the 7th inning in a close game is hardly the time to interview (insert B-list celeb) on his/her new movie.
  12. You can still find a decent deal of bleacher tickets for weekday day games
  13. I'm just going to only watch the first 45 minutes of each game. The last 3 usually suck
  14. Wow it seems like the NLC blows away the East and West
  15. There seems to be no virtual waiting room at the moment. I was able to go in and attempt to get tickets at any time
  16. The game against the Braves? I was there too. Such a bitter day. The only good thing was the Stoney chant during the 7th inning.
  17. I got NOTHING. Looks like if I wanna go to Wrigley, I'll be ebaying it or going through a freakin broker. a) Not all tickets will be sold out tonight (I was able to buy bleacher seats for a value date 3-4 days after tickets went on sale last year b) The Cubs usually release more tickets before every homestand c) Buying through a broker doesn't necessarily mean paying over face value if you play your cards right
  18. Sold out games now include (My guesses to why in parenthesis): Cubs vs. Cardinals 4/7/2006 (Opening day) Cubs vs. Cardinals 4/8/2006 (Opening series) Cubs vs. Braves 5/27/2006 (Mother's Day?) Cubs vs Tigers 6/17/2006 (Interleague Saturday) Cubs vs. White Sox 6/30/2006 (stupid White Sox) Cubs vs. White Sox 7/1/2006 (stupid White Sox) Cubs vs. White Sox 7/2/2006 (stupid White Sox) Cubs vs. Mets 7/15/2006 (Saturday against the ol NL East rivals) Cubs vs. Cardinals 7/28/2006 (Weekend Cardinals) Cubs vs. Cardinals 7/29/2006 (Weekend Cardinals) Cubs vs. Cardinals 7/30/2006 (Weekend Cardinals) Cubs vs. Cardinals 8/19/2006 (Weekend Cardinals) Cubs vs. Cardinals 8/20/2006 (Weekend Cardinals)
  19. Mystery Science Theater 3000
  20. Thanks to the great Sethuel, I was able to use his VWR prowless to score 6 bleachers on Opening Day! (And yes I will be bringing a blanket)
  21. Well the out of state line is busy, the in state line is busy, and I have 25 VWR windows up. It's go time!
  22. What is the purpose of going into the VWR now? (15 minutes before they go on sale). Also, I am thinking of checking out the out of state number (since my ID and my credit card are from out of state.) Anyway you think they verify that I live here?
  23. Alrighty, anyone want to clue me into the ins and outs of the VWR? Never done it before
  24. I think 11,150 is the winner for the WGN contest, but 11,152 is the winner. They couldnt draw a number that wasn't called
  25. 11546? Whoops its 6AM my math is off :)
