  1. For the second year in a row, St. Louis, having already clinched the division and home field, has been swept by a Houston team battling for a Wild Card during the last week of the season. I think both times were in St. Louis too. Discuss
  2. Did that say Food poisoning or Dusty poisoning?
  3. Look what desipio's Cubs Live has shown me...NSFW? Edit: I probably wouldn't click on the link unless you have a good sense of humor http://www.deadspin.com/sports/DigSoxYanks.jpg
  4. I see he's chugging along at his usual pace..... actually now that I think about it he's a little below that pace. Good job MP!
  5. Quick, 4 players have an OPS this season over 1.000. Name them. I bet everyone gets Lee, Pujols and ARod. Not many people will guess Travis Hafner as the 4th. He gets my vote. For additional votes, I go with Texiaria, Cliff Lee and probably Ensberg. A guy with Ensbergs numbers should not have been an injury replacement for the ASG
  6. I've been looking at Craig's list and have seen bleacher tickets as low as $15 for tonights game. I might walk over to the park around gametime and try to buy some $5-10 tickets :)
  7. So who wants to guess potential clinch dates ;)
  8. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-050925cubsbits,1,7820932.story?coll=cs-home-headlines I've seen something about this at least twice in the Trib.
  9. Wow, the Q&A was the first thing I thought of when I read the thread title. Len is the freakin man!
  10. Yeah but he's had several 2-3 run first innings followed by dominance
  11. You realize Dusty has played I think 4 games over the past 6 years when his team has no shot at the playoffs? That number is about to go waaaay up starting tomorrow
  12. Heh, it takes one corporate named ballpark to be changed to another corporate name for you to express your opinion on this matter? ;) I don't think the corporate name thing bothers me anymore, its when ballparks change their name that bugs me. RIP Jack Murphy Stadium, Pro Player/Joe Robbie Stadium, Fleet Center, Candlestick Park, Astrodome, Comiskey Park, etc etc etc
  13. Can anyone blame me for looking past today to tomorrows matchup (Z vs. Clemens)?
  14. Quick, someone test Nick Swisher and Mark Teahan
  15. Imagine how many emails dusty would get if he published his email
  16. I saw that. It looked like it hit off his head, and the announcers were convinced it went off his glove. Did it really strike him in the head? If so, wow because that hit (off Vlad) had the speed of the one that hit Prior's elbow
  17. You win....seriously you should write for the Heckler or something. I haven't laughed that hard in weeks
  18. So would you have let the pitcher bat? I'm trying to think back to who was available. Obviously losing Walkers stick hurt our chances, but Aurellia doesn't make a good play on Murton, the game is essentially over. I've heard about this one time that a guy pinch hit for a pitcher, and then he was out of the game. Might be a rumor though. Macias doesn't have to stay in the game. Yes he does, look how much better his range and zone factors are then Walker. /sarcasm
  19. Some intreaging subplots to this game: -Will the Cardinals clinch at Wrigley Field? -Will any Cubs fans not sell their tickets to Cards fans for a huge markup? -Will Prior stay under 150 pitches through the first 4 innings? -Will any more pitchers that haven't pitched in two weeks randomly get thrown in at a critical situation? -Will Dusty stop being a venomous cancer determined to destroy all that is Cubdom? Anyways, the Cubs have the advantage in the pitching matchup, as long as Priors arm doesnt fall off sometime in the second. Umm...Go Cubs
  20. Dusty managed his way to a loss there
  21. Hmm...Dusty INT walked the bases loaded with a young pitcher who hasnt pitched in 2 weeks and no room for error...ill start tomorrows game thread now
  22. You going Friday? I live in the area and if I wasn't in class until 9pm in the Loop, I'd head down there
  23. Let's pretend we are in a playoff race: Marlins up over the Astros 4-2 in the 7th
  24. Anyone else think Zambrano had a much better shot at getting a hit there?
  25. Thank God the Bears and Cubs will only go head to head for a little while. I remember sitting at Wrigley last year for week 1 and almost regretting going to the game while Glendon Rusch was getting lit up
