  1. I hope the White Sox cockiness to let their pitcher throw a CG for the 4th day in a row comes back to haunt them in the World Series
  2. I can't wait for when the Trib Co. responds to the White Sox in the World Series by resigning Neifi Perez to start at SS
  3. Props to Kenny Lofton for making an apparence in the Fox studio to talk about the last time a team blew a 3-1 lead in an LCS
  4. No its not because the Cubs effectively upgraded their team before the 2004 season, choosing to build around the cornerstones of the team and what they thought was the reason we went to the playoffs in 03, Prior, Wood and Zambrano. They added a 30 HR gold glove first baseman, a lights out setup man and were counting on full season contributions from Corey Patterson and Aramis Ramirez. Obviously most of that didn't work out, although they were 1 game improved over the year before, the rest of the Central got better. I don't see how anyone before 2004 didn't think the Cubs weren't the best team in the division, just like how its obvious now that they are not.
  5. Also the pitching was solid 1-4 in 2003. In 2005, Prior is not the same, Woody was hurt, Maddux was worse then Clement in 03, Zambrano about the same, maybe a little better.
  6. At least Scioscia was classy about it. He blamed his team for losing. Compare this to Dusty's reaction to the Bartman incident, which had 400% less to do with the outcome then this play did. Dusty basically said: %^$& Fan!! Scioscia said: Blame our team for losing.
  7. Either this: June 19-20-21 at Cleveland June 23-24-25 at Minnesota June 26-27-28-29 Milwaukee June 30, July 1-2 White Sox July 3-4-5 at Houston July 6-7-8-9 at Milwaukee July 10-11-12 all-star break July 13-14-15-16 New York July 18-19-20 Houston or this: August 14-15-16 at Houston August 18-19-20 St. Louis August 21-22-23-24 Philadelphia August 25-26-27 at St. Louis look to be the hardest stretches of the year
  8. Gawd, I can't believe how many brand spanking new Sox caps have sprung up over the past couple of weeks on the el every morning. Very true. I was on the Brown Line on Friday as the Sox were clinching their first round series vs. Boston. I was at about the Southport Stop when I hear a PA announcement: "I have some good news for you guys, the White Sox win 5-3!" and about 70% of my train, most wearing those day old Sox caps were standing up clapping and cheering. If those fans really cared about the Sox, why are they on a train in the Northside during these important games. This was around 6pm and most were yuppie looking, meaning they had no families to go home to. I would have stayed in the Loop after work and watched the rest of the game at a bar if I was a Sox fan.
  9. I'm stunned that Nomar didn't get hurt. Just the Cubs luck he only gets hurt on the field, not while in the midst of acrobatically saving 2 lives in a bay
  10. I just don't see any reason why he deserves to keep his job with the Cubs. I'm sorry it may not be his fault, but when your trying to win a championship and you get results from your pitching staff as a whole like he did, there is no reason to be nice and think that he wasn't at fault.
  11. Sounds like the cubs aren't playing the indians next year And yet they are
  12. Do the Cubs ever give me any reason to cheer for them anymore. And yet I still do....
  13. Bump to the greatest thread ever. Who is ready for the season to start? Only 24 more days until opening night!
  14. His OPS since leaving KC: .687 .799 .750 .857 .805 Not that he was much better in KC, but his last 2 years OPS: .877 .856 His SB have declined since leaving KC from 46 to 18 His BA and OBP are above average, but not even close to worth what he will surely ask in FA with Boras as his agent.
  15. Criteria - Last time a team has finished .500 or better 4 years in a row or if not, 5 of 6 years ARI - 1999-2003 ATL - 1991-2005 CHC - 1967-1972 CIN - 1985-1990 COL - Never; born in 1993 FLA - Never; born in 1993, 2 championships HOU - 1996-2005 LOS - 1996-2004 MIL - 1987-1992 NYM - 1997-2001 PHI - 1982-1987 PIT - 1987-1992 STL - 2000-2005 SDG - 1982-1985 STL - 1997-2002 MON/WAS - 1987-1994 BAL - 1979-1985 BOS - 1998-2005 CWS - 2000-2005 CLE - 1995-2001 DET - 1982-1988 KC - 1984-1989 ANA - 1982-1986 MIN - 2001-2005 NYY - 1993-2005 OAK - 1999-2005 SEA - 2000-2003 TAM - Never; born in 2001 TEX - 1989-1993 TOR - 1983-1993 Every non-expansion team has been in middle of one of these streaks since 1985. The Cubs havent been there since 13 years prior in 1972. Thats a history of futility
  16. I don't aim high. I am not looking for a team that can dominate for 20 years. I am looking for a team that can have sustained success for 5 year. Heck, even the Royals and Brewers have flirted with that.
  17. Apparently no one appreciate the artistic talents of JonMDavis :( Anyways, I was stunned and shocked to come home today and see that my NSBB prize was already received in the mail. And the good news is the Jersey fits! It definitely brightened my day in what was otherwise a bleak week for the Cubs (in terms of how their rivals faired). Thanks to everyone to make this happen, you guys rock!
  18. Yeah it should be after the last game of the World Series. But most teams don't get serious about FA aquisitions until during the Winter Meetings
  19. Why are you conflicted? There are 14 teams in the NY-Penn league. That means you have 13 teams to cheer for!
  20. You know that feeling of misery you get when you think about the Cubs futility? It would TRIPLE if the Sox won the World Series. But I dunno, I am kinda getting used to massive misery after this year. It might just feel like another slap in the face. It wouldn't stop me from proudly wearing my Cubs hat through the city the day after the Sox won it though
  21. Guys I might really do this. I did a drive by the stadium earlier today. It seems there are many potential places to get in to where the bricks are. The key is getting in there when no one is looking...
  22. He left Matt Clement in when he was getting shelled by the White So- oh wait, that wasn't Dusty :embarassed:
  23. Don't forget the parking structure and concourse along what used to be Seminary. Will you guys really pay $50 for a brick of Wrigley? I mean if I'm going to risk criminal trespassing and everything that goes with it I want to be sure your going to believe its an authentic Wrigley brick and not just something I picked up at Home Depot.
  24. You did know that its really Pale Hose right? Just checking
