  1. 2 questions: 1) Why did Red refer to Ben's dunk as "the question mark" as it happened? 2) Why did Scott Skiles, at the end of his postgame conference say, 'Tom Dore was terrible" and then leave
  2. Just got back, the wait was about 10 minutes long. I got numbers around 2,000, 6,500, and 8,000 (myself and two friends). The biggest number wristband I saw was numbered over 18,000.
  3. i didn't see any line this morning on my way to the L, but then again I wasn't paying attention coming down Seminary. Could've walked past several hundred people and probably not noticed. Not sure what time you left this morning, but the wristbands started being distributed at 10 AM. Last year I went at about noon on the first day, and the line actually stretched around the park. Not sure if they will have a different way of queueing people this year, considering the ongoing construction in the OF. Ah, well that's why. It was about 9 Am. Thought it started at 8 for some reason... Tomorrow it starts at 7. My buddy went there earlier, and said he was in and out in 5 minutes. Also, he said they aren't doing their operations in the old car wash this year, but at a location across the street from the 7-11

  5. Like someone else mentioned, I think they are feeling the pressure a bit this year. It seems like it might be increasing their desire. I think it was Lee that said that the first time they screw up at Wrigley, they will most likely get booed, and that they will be expecting that all year.
  6. Going out there around 5:30 tonight to get my wristband. Anyone one been out there yet? What does the line look like? Last year it took about 45 minutes to get a wristband, hopefully this time it will be less.
  7. Yes, they do and yes they are. I am a bit worried, but what will likely happen is Michigan losing to Illinois and at OSU, beat Indiana at home and beat a team like Purdue in the first round of the Big 10 tourney. That would put them at 19-10 (9-9) including the tourney, and I just don't see a way with all the hype the Big 10 has gotten this year, that they send less then 6 teams into the dance unless Michigan completely collapses and loses out (leaving them 17-11 (7-10)) That leaves in no particular order: 1. Illinois 2. Michigan State 3. Ohio State 4. Wisconsin 5. Iowa 6. Michigan The problem is of course 3 of Michigan's starting 5 being out with injuries (Abram, Harris and Hunter). Hunter will be out 3-6 weeks (a huuuuge blow), Harris should be playing tonight and Abram - who the hell knows. I waffle back and forth pretty much every other day on whether I think the Big 10 is gonna clean up in the tourney or have a losing record in the tourney. The Michigan loss probably sunk them, but if Minnesota can steal one of their games at Wisconsin or at home against UI(they could really use the road win-only 2 on the season), anyone else think they belong? They'd obviously need the first round win, (probably against the 10 seed) but that'd put them at 17-12(7-9) in the best conference in the country in a real down year for bubble teams. That should put their RPI in the 40s-50s I would guess, along with a 7-3 record in the last 10, all losses to tournament teams along with 3 wins over tourney teams. I don't think it's likely they'd beat Wisconsin or UI(though I do fear this game), but it's certainly possible and it seems Minnesota isn't getting any attention despite having a similar profile to IU(who's sliding the other way.) If Michigan finished around 18-10 (7-9) and Minnesota 17-12 (7-9), I think the Big 10's 6th spot would be up to those two, and with Michigan beating Minnesota twice by 15+ points, Michigan would get the nod. The only thing that would put that in doubt would be the fact that Minnesota would be lik 8-2 in their last 10, with Michigan like 3-7

  9. It was all the talk during Cubs Convention. I think Hendry recounted a story where people confused Murton for a Bears player (the Bears were also staying at the hotel before their playoff game). I don't necessarily think he will either, but a young kid that is trying to stay in the majors full time would find it wise to listen to the coaches that give him advice theoretically.
  10. Good point about ticket buying via the Heckler:
  11. This scenario about Murton worries me: -Shows unusual power during his first big league stint in 2005 (happened) -A little birdie whispers into his ear "Dude we need you to hit more HRs, you know. If you want to stay in the big leagues, quit worrying about walking and practice hitting dingers dude" -Bulks up over the winter, shows up to Cubs Convention unusually bigger (happened) -Posts a .500 SLG in the thin Arizona air during Spring Training -Come mid-June, is demoted to AAA Iowa after his 67th warning track out of the year. Completely loses his ability to get on base with line drives and walks -June 2007, is traded to Baltimore to join the Orioles OF with the 2006 Comeback POY Corey Patterson
  12. 200+ innings? 2004: 83 IP 2002: 134.7 IP 2001: 200.7 (I'm not sure if 0.7IP more then 200 is what you meant by 200+) 2000: 204.7 IP (still barely over 200 IP) 1999: 191.7 IP Doesn't seem like hes a lock to get 200+ IP (although much more likely then Prior who only has 1 season with over 200 IP)

  14. So Aramis didn't report today? If he shows up in a couple of days with a boombox blasting salsa music to celebrate his arrival, I'm done with this team.
  15. Well its the time of year again. Here is a timeline of ticket related events this week Wednesday 2/22 - Wristbands will be distributed from 11AM - 10PM Thursday 2/23 - Wristbands will be distributed from 7AM - 10PM Friday 2/24 - -6:00AM - Winning wristband number is announced on WGN 720 -8:00AM - Tickets go on sale at Wrigley Field -10:00AM - Tickets go on sale online and through 1-800-THE-CUBS (1-866-652-2827 for out of state residents) -10:30AM - White Sox series likely sold out Saturday 2/25 - Tickets go on sale at Tickets.com outlets such as the Chicagoland Sports Authority Stores and the Tribune Store (located at 435 N. Michigan Ave) So in the interim, the topic will be: who is planning on getting wristbands, what games are people trying to get tickets for, what do you think will be the most popular series this year with no major series (other then the White Sox) jumping out (a la Red Sox last year) I'll be getting my wristband, hoping to get within 500 of the winning number like last year. In what may be unpopular to some here, I plan on buying my max share of tickets, and sell some of them to break even with the games I plan to goto. My target series are in Cards series (especially April), SF series in September (history in the making?) and of course the White Sox series.
  16. You mean 2003? (For the most part)
  17. Ahh the annual Prior Spring Training injury...good times
  18. Here's one person hoping he doesnt break the record
  19. All I want to know is where all these White Sox fans came from? (i.e. Davis)
  20. Are we due for the 2006 Injury Update Thread? I'm not touching that this year for fear of being lynched by this board
  21. Sounds like a fun way to kick off spring training!
  22. Downright blasphemous. Especially if there are playoff implications. Im sure the Sox get WGN that day
  23. Yup, they also led by 33, which was the final margin in the game :D:D
  24. Must be going for the David Wells look. Actually this isn't funny, plz don't show up to camp overweight.
  25. A 3-3 tie. USA dominated the last 10 minutes of the game, but had nothing to show for it. Kinda crappy start to the hockey tournament...
