  1. Hey I could see the Reds doing very well this year. If Griffey hits like he is in the WBC, their offense should be pretty damn good I must say. They will probably be a good tea- Oh. Oh wait, you need pitching too?
  2. Its an idea to take into consideration for sure. But I doubt Hairston would win the 2B job outright. There would be some sort of platoon. But I can envision Hendry wanting Pierre/Hairston 1 and 2 in the order in a lighter version of Pierre/Castillo. I guess he thinks that if you can't beat them, you must join them
  3. Honestly, I want to see Todd Walker leave just to hear him finally uncork what he's been wanting to say for over a year now. The second he gets traded thats what's going to happen. Honestly, Todd deserves better.
  4. Hell yeah my scUM Wolverines aim to win their third NIT title in 10 years! (only 2 that count) Pathetic. All 3 years we were a bubble team that was one of the first teams left out of the NCAA tourney. If that doesn't prove that the NCAA is biased against UM, that I don't know what to tell you. But yeah Air Force totally had a strong schedule.
  5. Yay, no Michigan, I guess you all agree that they didn't deserve it
  6. You and me both. I'm not watching the selection show. I am cheering for them if they get in of course (looks to be about a 30% chance, Florida State, Hofstra, George Mason, Michigan and Seton Hall seem to be fighting for 2-3 spots), but I don't think they deserve it. Oh well 8 years without a rooting interest in the NCAA tourney, might as well wait more years.
  7. Isn't it funny how some of the country's uniforms look like MLB team uniforms? USA - Braves Dominican - Cubs road unis (I swear I was imagining David Ortiz in a Cubs uni last year, and Alou looked just like he did in 2004 with the Cubs) Italy - Looks a lot like the Dodgers road unis.
  8. Seriously USA Basketball, USA Hockey and now USA Baseball. What the hell?
  9. Who was the Cutoff man? It looked like DLee? I know he is the DH but it looked like a tall black man with the number 2_something
  10. If Canada gave up 8 runs to South Africa, they can easily give up 5 to the US hitters. No worries
  11. So wait, lets say that US loses today, but finishes 2-1 beating SA, Mexico beats SA and Canada, Canada loses to Mexico Canada 2-1 Mexico 2-1 USA 2-1 South Africa 0-3 USA over Mexico in head to head to head tie breaker Canada over US in head to head tie breaker Mexico over Canada in head to head battle The next tie breaker is runs allowed per inning Right now the US has given up 5 runs in 12 IP (.42 RPI) Canada has given up 8 runs in 11 IP (.73 RPI) Mexico has given up 2 runs in 9 IP (.22 RPI)
  12. It would be like the US beating Canada in hockey, most of Canada probably cares less about baseball, but they will take the chance to rub it in our faces
  13. What is it about US national teams disapointing lately? Hope this trend doesn't continue into the World Cup
  14. Link? Who did they trade for him? PTBNL?
  15. Seriously I got a great deal of respect for Bare after seeing that interview. He seemed very genuine about everything he said, and the things he said suprised me. I've seen everyone else on the Cubs downplay the Sox winning the title, but he didnt. Also I was really suprised to hear about his goal of winning a gold glove. Sure I doubt he will ever come close even, but its nice to hear that defense is among his biggest goals.
  16. Anyone know if Lee or Barrett really are coming back on offdays for the Cubs during the WBC? I never saw if they decided that or not
  17. Thats awesome! Lee does do seem to do well in big games (ignoring most of the 2003 players). Key hit in the 2003 NLCS, had 2 hits in the ASG last year and now the HR today
  18. Guess its not that alarming that a control pitcher walked 3 in his first outing of the spring, but it sure is good to see Maddux how I remember him
  19. Now both Sportslines projectors have Michigan out of the dance. Thanks a lot scUM for ruining another college basketball season for me. I haven't seen my team in the NCAA tourney since 1998 and you've pissed it away for me again.
  20. I know everyone is saying the DR team's lineup is stacked, but one look at that US lineup and I'm thinking they match up very well. 1B - Pujols vs. Lee - Slight Adv. DR 2B - Soriano vs. Utley - Adv. DR SS - Tejada vs. Jeter - Adv. DR 3B - Beltre vs. Rodriguez - Adv. US RF - Pena vs. Winn - Adv. Even LF - Alou vs. Damon - Slight Adv. US CF - Encarnation vs. Griffey - Adv. US DH - Ortiz vs. Teixeira - Slight Adv. DR C - Schneider vs. Castillo - Slight Adv. - US By batting order: Soriano vs. Damon - Adv. US Tejada vs. Jeter - Adv. DR Pujols vs. Griffey (3rd?!?!) - Adv. DR Ortiz vs. Rodriguez - Adv. US Alou vs. Teixeira - Adv. US Beltre vs. Lee - Adv. US Pena vs. Schneider - Adv. DR Encarnation vs. Winn - Adv. DR Castillo vs. Utler - Adv. US It's pretty even IMO
  21. Soriano leading off? Well I guess thats better then Corey/Neifi/Macais
  22. I don't think Ohio State is going to get a number one unless they win the BTT. But they should considering they lost all 4 of their games in the nation's second toughest conference and have been on a role lately. However, I think a team like Memphis, despite the loss will get the #1 seed.
  23. I think its pathetic that the later rounds of the tourney are single elimination. I know they are trying to get this done in a 3 week time span, but in one game, the better team does not always win, and seems to put an emphasis on pitching, specifically who is starting that day.
