  1. From the very early look of things, the Cubs might end up Tomkowned.
  2. simple solution..give up basketball :P Tried. Didn't work. I gave it up but came back each time they won. :? when was the last time that happened? actually when i lived in san antonio i became a spurs fan, only local pro sport team....but now that im not there i couldnt give 2 shakes of my **** about the NBA Be a Bulls fans, it amazingly entertaining.
  3. OT comment: Dammit I hate Bulls games. I always plan to do my HW after the games, but they always end up being so close that I build up tension throughout the game, then when they win or lose, I have to deal with a cool off period that lasts about 15-30 minutes before I can work on HW. And now I have the Cubs game starting immediately after. Ugh, I need a 40 hour day or something.
  4. When he tests negative for steroids. Oooo a steroids joke, I am so fresh.
  5. I used to say the same in college. Get work done by 10 or 11, watch Cubs game (drink), go to bed, wake up for 11 am class. Can't say I like going to bed by the 3rd inning and waking up the next day to see a boxscore... For me more like, get out of class at 5, frantically do HW from 5-6, watch Bulls game from 6-8:30, frantically do more HW from 8:30-9:00, watch Cubs game (drink), then try to do HW buzzed from 12-2, wake up at 8 on six hours sleep.

Thats dumb for 3 reasons: 1) We are already going to have a top 4 draft pick anyways 2) This is a very shallow draft 3) Provided we didn't win the lottery (and being one of the best teams left out, we'd have less then a 3% chance of winning) or draft pick would be 14-15. Having clinched the playoffs, our draft pick "plummets" to 16. Not worth tanking it for.
  7. The 12 man staff is back in full force
  8. Its to the point where I just really hope he turns it around, I kinda feel bad for the guy for whatever reason.
  9. Finally....years of making late breaks on fly balls and senseless diving have taken a toll on Edmonds.
  10. Oh well, I could probably think off the top of my head 30 calls that didn't go the Bulls way this year. And I'm sure I could think of 30 more that did go their way. It all evens out.
  11. I'm just saying: Cubs don't come back in that Saturday Cardinals game, and their schedule has gone WLWLWLWLWL for the year.
  12. If it makes any Bulls fans better, Philly just lost again, and the Bulls magic number for making the playoffs is 1, meaning if the Bulls win any of their last 3 games (and at Home vs. Toronto is looking pretty good), or the 76ers lose any of their last 2 (they still have to play vs. NJ) the Bulls are win Sorry back to ranting.
  13. If we lose, its speed and defense that did us in. A CS by Pagan in the 2nd, that was followed by a double cost us a run. An error by Cedeno in the 3rd cost us a run. There you have it.
  14. I'm starting to worry that Pierre will be like last years version
  15. Obviously this is nothing more then an internet rumor, but are the Cubs looking at May 4th for Wood's return? http://mb3.scout.com/fchicagocubsfrm1.showMessage?topicID=26455.topic
  16. I also post on this board, same handle as here. PowerWoofer is practically bipolar when it comes to the Bulls. I know, I thought I was bad, but he just goes insane when things go bad. BTW, brewerfan.net is on that list on WSI, they just posted the direct link to the board.
  17. Brilliant game. I spent a good majority of my childhood throwing those wacky pitches. Remember the hit that when it hits the ground an earthquake happens and none of the fielders can move, but you can. Good stuff.
  18. Actually found a GREAT list of MLB teams forums over on WSI. Yes I lurk over there from time to time. Anyways, this should pretty much end the thread. http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=1094883#post1094883
  19. Zach Duke is the classic case of Pirates pitchers who dupe me into thinking they are good enough for my fantasy team, so I pick them too early and they suck. Last years example was Oliver Perez, who is basically a waste of life at the moment. Get a win Cubs!
  20. A large portion of the upper stands is closed to fans at this point. That's because of construction. I also remember when I was a kid visiting family in Minnesota and going to a Twins game at the old Metropolitan Stadium. The entire upper deck was closed off because there were so few people at the game. I mean they had chain link fences up and everything so you couldn't go up there. Edit: I just saw the highlight with Lee's gamewinning home run. Those sections you saw in the left-field corner are still under construction and fans can't sit there. Can anyone thing of another park that was still in the process of being built or heavily redone during the season? Wasn't Edison Field in Anaheim the last place that was like that? Oakland had ongoing construction during the season as they made an ugly park even uglier for baseball. When Safeco opened, they opened after the All Star break which I thought was interesting.
  21. so, you'd like the cubs to not win as much as possible early on? Yes, it is obvious that this is exactly what I was saying.
  22. There is no way this is anything close to a must win series. The Astros were 10 games under .500 in late May and they did fine. Just relax and enjoy the fact that baseball is around. Start getting anxious and worrying in July and August.
  23. My conspiracy theory is that the MLB is juicing balls in order to compensate from a drop in HRs in the post steroid era. This makes the steroids era seem over dramatized, and makes it look like it was not as big of a deal as people make it out to be. I don't really believe that, but it sorta makes sense.
  24. Wonder if Ron can tell Dusty his lineup "sounds like a winner" with a straight face today... Then again, with Z pitching, any lineup has a shot at being a winner. As Brenley likes to remind us ad nauseum "if you pitch a shutout and hit a home run, you can't lose"
