Even with Lee, this team isn't half the team they were in 04

Embarassment off the field maybe, but at least they could hit better then this bunch. Look at their lineup though: Corey - Not a leadoff hitter, cant get on base, sucked badly, don't blame them for getting rid of him (just WHEN they got rid of him) Walker - Still on team Sosa - Post steroids Sosa started to show, was cranky and a team distraction, don't blame them for getting rid of him Alou - Sucked for 2 years of his contract then randomly got good, history of injuries and 2 straight healthy years made it a bad gamble to resign, aging and likely to decline (although he didn't), don't blame them for getting rid of him Nomar - Injured all the time, no longer a viable SS defensively, very streaky, would have liked to have had him for LF or RF, might have a point here Lee - Still on team Ramirez - Still on team Barrett - Still on team Now think of all the players that we could have gotten to replace them? I mentioned before, the Riot isn't listed on the Bench. Maybe he didn't out there in time? Maybe he's joining the team vs. San Fran? I coulda sworn that I saw him on the bench during the pregame chatter.

you don't have to pitch five to get a loss, only a win, so yeah, he will get the loss. Can you imagine the lack of a rush to get into the game if that we're the case?

I'm getting to a point that I just want them to lose for however long it takes for Dusty to get fired. I know it's not all his fault, but it sure as hell wouldn't hurt. As I alluded to in another thread, if the Cubs lose tonite, it will be the fourth losing streak of at least 7 games in the past year under Dusty. That isn't good. In a year??? That's just terrible. I want to see a manager with some fire...when was the last time Dusty got ejected for arguing? When you're losing this much surely there's SOMETHING to argue and show your team that you have some fight in you... Even today, Steve Stone insisted that it's only a matter of time before Baker gets an extension. How can Hendry possibly sell that to the fans? If that happens, does anyone want to put together a protest outside Wrigley trying to deter fans from going into the park? It probably won't happen, but we might get some pub for it. Perhaps a Homer Simpson-esque hunger strike while chained to the Harry Caray statue? I don't care what we do. I just want to have the management know that some fans are completely disgruntled, and we aren't going to take this crap year after year anymore

I kinda had a feeling that the whole Maddux rejuvination thing was a bit overblown. More like he improved slightly from last year, but was mostly on a good stretch to start the year.

Bynum is out of options, and can play more positions then Theriot. Not sure if we will DFA him...Restovich is possible.

I looked at every thread in Baseball Discussions and Minor Leagues from May 5th on to make sure this wasn't posted. If I missed a thread on the topic, I'm sorry. This story is about Matt Clanton and his time with the Cubs. The bitter former first round pick rips the Cubs and accuses them of ripping apart his self esteem basically. I believe he is on track to make his first start on the 17th. Unless the Cubs skip someone on the offday, and Z is first up the game after, the 17th is Marshall's start, and the 18th is Guzman's. I'm assuming they want to keep Wood on his 5 day schedule and pitch him on his regular day May 17th, and push Marshall back a day until May 18. Either way, NSBB day will be fun
