  1. New favorite order of Chicago athletes: 1. Zambrano 2. Nocioni 3. Mateo
  2. Mateo is a gangster, so what if he hit the free out with 1 out
  3. Hawkins gave up the 3-run, game tying home run to Diaz with two outs in the 9th. Some no-name hit the game-winning home run off Mercker in the 11th. God that game sucked. I remember watching it in NY right before my aunt's wedding. The announcers were just saying how he hadn't hit a homerun in Shea or something....That just crushed me. And, I guess, the Cubs. I specifically remember the feeling I had when that was hit. About 4-5 seconds of shock, then I felt a hard pain sink slowly from my heart to my stomach. I looked over at my friend and he looked like the same exact thing was going on.
  4. The Wood game was not in the same game as the Dusty ejection, Freel catch and back to back shots by Sosa and Alou. It was the day before. The Wood ejection game: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=240417116 The day BEFORE, the Sosa/Alou/Dusty/Freel game: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=240416116 I only skimmed this thread, so apologies if this was corrected already.
  5. Yeah I know, Jim Hendry should not be working on these things. If they are going to be doing stuff like this they should at least hire a PR/Marketing department. Oh wait they have one :)
  6. Pick Manning if you want to goto the playoffs and lose in both games. Trust me, I've had that cancer for the last 2 years and its all fine and dandy until he plays 1 total quarter the last 2 weeks of the season.
  7. Nothing regarding Baker and pitch counts will phase me after he let Prior throw over 120 pitches with a 12-3 lead in Game 2 of the 2003 NLCS
  8. Thanks Chipper...3 HR tonight :)
  9. How is that possible when Dempster has blow what 6 saves? Did the Cubs get the lead in the top of the 9th at home 2 times that Demp blew it? I'm pretty sure we lost all 6 games he blew A blown save is not necessarily a loss, is it ? Hence why I said I was pretty sure we lost all 6 games he blew. So if he blows a save in the 9th and we lose, thats a L when leading after 8 is it not? Or have I had a really long day and my brain is jumbled?
  10. You know why Zambrano is still pitching? Because Dusty is playing for next year....for himself. This quote says it all: Dusty doesn't want to be here, and won't unless JH throws money at him. So basically Dusty doesn't care if Zambrano throws 160 pitches to get the win, as long as it helps his W/L record to make him more appealing to other teams. Think about it...that is Dusty's PO

  12. Z is such a warrior gutting it out fearlessly to keep us right in there in the Wild Card race. Oh wait, we are 19 games under .500 and he's gonna throw 120 pitches at least.. Baker doesn't care who he takes down on the way out of town.
  13. that's not something that happens every day Well yeah, the Cubs do have offdays. But once every gameday and twice on Sundays.
  14. Wow Pierre's arm is just unbelievably bad..... Reason # 430943 why we shouldnt resign Pierre but still will.
  15. Ron will never retire because he is part of the Cubs marketing plan to make the Cubs this lovable fuzzy feeling team. Pat and Ron are pretty much a trademark like Wrigley Field, Cubbies, and Old Style. If you want real analysis (and a real team), follow someone else :(
  16. No difference? How about having someone out there that know who Ryan Theriot is and where he comes from? Dusty knows hes gone and hes bitter and frankly annoying when talking to the media. He has no reason to help the Cubs in their future, his only concern is campaigning for a new job. Why keep a lame duck manager in there when you can give someone else a chance to help out the organization.
  17. Its amazing what the cream and the clear can do for ya.
  18. Sox about the sweep the Tigers. Anyone else see it all crashing down for them?
  19. link? I didn't see these comments. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-060812cubsbirte,1,5651277.story?coll=cs-home-headlines Actually suprised I didnt see them posted anywhere, they were quite amusing. "Judge me on my track record, not this year" Yup lets sign Bonds next year for $50 million a year because he has 725 freakin HRs! Who cares what he did last year
  20. I'm almost positive Dusty is going to leave even if JH wanted him back after the season. It seems like for his pride, he doesn't want to get fired. Now that he is allowed to remain to the end of the year, he can now say he "left" the team and wasnt fired. Actually according to his comments to the trib last night, hes already saying that
  21. And Larry Rothschild is still the pitching coach...why?
  22. They are certainly putting things together, too bad its way too late to matter
  23. from this thread is what made me start this thread. Good riddance was for Prior going on the DL. The rest of the post was factually stating what the rotation will be the rest of the year. No opinion was given either way as to whether I was happy about this rotation or not. I think its pretty clear reading my past posts on this topic what my opinion is (let the freakin kids play!). Therefore, this entire post is redundant as it was posted on false grounds. Good day.
  24. Good riddance So our rotation is: Zambrano Hill Marshall Guzman Marmol
