  1. Right now I think they have more people on the DL then the Cubs do...however a lot of the people on the DL just went on recently, unlike the Cubs. They have barely gotten anything out of Clement for the last 2 years, and hes on the DL too. I think fans are really going to jump on Theo for this mess (and already are). The thing is, he made a lot of gutsy decisions while dismantling the championship team, he mostly stuck to his philosophy. I have no problems with the Crisp trade when it was made, the Beckett trade mostly too. Hanley Ramirez would have been great for this team, and Beckett was a walking injury the last few years, but the gamble had big upside, and they got a lot out of Lowell until recently. I think the Red Sox ownership realized this was a transition year anyways (athough a transition year in Boston is nothing like one on the Northside), and to be competitive most of the season in a 'transition year' is pretty good. They have a lot of young pitching talent that they are developing and probably will be great in a year or two. The key for them is to not let time waste while Manny and Ortiz are still in their prime. The Red Sox will be back in the playoffs next year, fear not.
  2. We'd still get compensation picks if he leaves right? I would think that is a better "gain" to the organization then whatever teams would be offering for a one month rental.
  3. Since Lee went down, there have only been 25 losses decided by 2 runs or loss. So if Lee was in there, he would have made the difference in 60% of those games I am guessing?? (15/25)
  4. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writers/jon_heyman/08/28/al.busts/1.html In the same article, they rank A-rod as the #1 AL disappointment. Awesome, thats only 28 other teams we have to compete with now.
  5. Just saw this on ESPN.com. This is going to absolutely kill the Sox with Manny being hurt right now as well. Hopefully he gets better. They are going to need shutouts from Beckett and Schilling and basically hope everyone comes back. They have 16 of their final 26 at home. Four of the road games are at NYY, so, I wouldn't count Boston out until Labor Day. Beckett is not good. not too likely. He's good against the Cubs....too bad the Red Sox don't have to face us
  6. great things can come from it. in the form of an online comic about a baseball chatroom. Yes, in fiction. I doubt either of us want those things to happen in real life :)
  7. Wow...www.boston.com is reporting that Ortiz was sent back to Boston with an irregular heartbeat. This heart issue caused him to spend a night in the hospital during the Yankees series a week ago. Obviously if he is home in Boston, its highly unlikely he will be able to make it back to play on the rest of the road trip. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2006/08/29/ortiz_sent_home_for_testing/
  8. Way to teach him a lesson Tampa.... Thank GOD Detroit and Tampa Bay don't play the rest of this season. With Delmon and Dimitri in the same zip code, good things simply can not come from it
  9. That is why I am hoping the Red Sox make a miracle run to the playoffs. It will be impossible to do anything good in the offseason with the Red Sox likely outspending everyone.
  10. I believe they said that he changed numbers the day after Neifi left. Ahh, never noticed it until today.
  11. Hey guys, how long has Will Ohman been Neifi Perez?
  12. Several former Cubs managers strongly disagree with you
  13. This is a big series for the Pirates if they are serious about overtaking the Cubs for 5th place. What are they like 4.5 back? The standard Cubs sweep will put them within serious striking distance.
  14. Speaking of that play, has anyone been seeing Jones' throws lately? The one last night looked like he tried to throw it directly on the ground. Lately the Cubs have been so bad, its comical again.
  15. Actually maybe we should buy him a ticket home since the Cubs are crawling to Pittsburgh
  16. So your saying we should sign him and watch him suck for the Cubs?
  17. There's your Sunday night game winning grand slam
  18. That was Ramirez Yes, but its a general statement that should be taken seriously
  19. How many crazy ways have we allowed runs to score in the past 2 years? -Single and a 3 base error -2 runs score on a wild pitch -2 runs score on a grounder to SS -2 runs score on a sacrifice fly -balk scores a run (game tying run) -GW run scored on a pickoff at 3B
  20. I was there :) After the game a friend of mine who was participating in a charity event at halftime, got his head shaved by Nate Jacqua. He's actually a pretty cool guy in person. I thanked him for helping to beat Chelski :)

As ignorant as this sounds...I will not consider the offense to be acceptable until they score one touchdown. I mean they've had just about 6 quarters to score a TD
  22. For awhile, I thought the Cubs had an outside shot at 70 wins, but it looks like they have pissed away that opportunity too.
