  1. I agree. 4 no hitters and 2 world titles in 11 seasons. For the Cubs, 0 world titles in 98 years and no no hitters for like 30 years. I HATE the Marlins
  2. Cmon halfway to the sweeeep! Guesses on attendance tonight? I say around 33,500
  3. The leadoff hitter is important because he hypothetically sets the table for the middle of the lineup. A leadoff hitter with a higher OBP gives the 3-4-5 hitters a better chance to drive in a run. Or at least thats what the MLB textbook says.
  4. Beautiful. Sounds like something Z will suffer with the rest of his career. For the love of God, just contract this team please. PLEASE PLEASE
  5. speaking of Carlos Silva, how does a team in a playoff race allow a pitcher to pitch so many bad innings? Brad Radke's arm is dangling by a thread

  8. 2003: 1st 2004: 3rd 2005: 4th 2006: 6th Good job Hendry
  9. Ladies and gentlemen, the doormats of the National League, the Chicago Cubs! You guys earned it.
  10. Whatever is left of the crowd seems hostile and downright violent. Gonna stay tuned to see how this turns out. The Cubs brass attending tonights game will be embarassed. Look fans aren't dumb enough to go to your stupid games anymore. Still 2 games left in the series...can't wait to see how that turns out.
  11. Who were the opponents for the other games? And were any of those night games? Those are two factors that come immediately to mind. First one was yesterdays game (Labor day can be a factor) Next one was Friday's Giants game The previous 2 were from the Phillies series, don't remember if they were day/night, but I assume the last game of the series was a day game The next smallest crowd this year was around 36,500 back in April. Seems odd to have around 5,000 less. Yesterday's game couldnt have been the straw that broke the camel's back could it?
  12. What do you think the cause of the attendance dropoff is? Last few weekday home games: 37,994 38,582 39,464 39,470 Now 31,000 tonight
  13. What rally? It was only him :D With the Cubs meager OBP that is a rally
  14. The funny thing there is not, the tickets are sold, people are just not going. If I was rich but not rich enough to buy the Cubs, I would stand outside Wrigley and buy up as many bleacher tickets as possible and then throw them in the trash
  15. He showed some emotion. And since the ump likes to frequent Cubs message boards, he knows that Ramirez never shows emotion and doesn't care about wins and losses. So the ump concluded that by throwing his helmet to the ground, he was showing up the umpire Edit: The real answer is bolded in my joke response
  16. Didn't he PH already? Or was that this inning?
  17. Haha where are all the fans? This is awesome
  18. Which inning will we see our first Mark O'Neal appearence of the day? My guess is the 4th
  19. I can't root for that team ever. Well its been 22 years and I'm still not a huge fan of the Padres. The Giants are so so. Remember our dominating rotations: Josh Beckett - Oft injuried and sucky with the Red Sox Dontrelle Willis - Still with the team, mediocre ERA but pretty decent pitcher Brad Penny - Well he did start in the All Star game this year AJ Burnett - Didn't play in the playoffs but oft injured with Toronto Carl Pavano - Oft injured and sucks with the Yankees Mark Redman - Mediocre pitcher mostly Mark Prior - Injuries derailed career Kerry Wood - See Prior Matt Clement - See Prior and Wood, also a headcase Carlos Zambrano - Still dominant Shawn Estes - Should not be considered in this topic
  20. AL E: NYY AL C: Det AL W: Oak AL WC: Min (mostly wishful thinking) NL E: NYM NL C: STL NL W: LAD NL WC: Phi Min over NYY in 5 Oak over Det in 4 NYM over STL in 4 LAD over Phi in 5 Min over Oak in 6 NYM over LAD in 5 NYM over Min in 6 Geez
  21. Cubs starters and whether they've been hurt this year Zambrano - Yes Prior - Yes Wood - Yes Maddux - No Williams - No Marshall - Yes Marmol - Yes Mateo - Yes Hill - No Ryu - No O'Malley - Yes Rusch - Yes Guzman - Yes Walrond - Yes 10/14 starters, not bad guys not bad.
  22. Picks in bold We should get some sort of ATS pick 'em (friendly) contest going. I know Mark R would love that
