  1. Come on man, that's some flawed analysis. Washington and Carolina are a big step up from Detroit and Green Bay. You're comparing teams who went 10-6 and 11-5 last year to teams who went 5-11 and 4-12. Most analysts felt that both Washington and Carolina improved themselves in the offseason. Detroit may have improved themselves slightly but are at best a 7-9 team while Green Bay is one of the worst few teams in the league. We also played Washington in a tough Monday Night road game where Portis made an impact. Carolina didn't have Smith, but that defense is still nasty and it's not like Delhomme, Keyshawn, Foster and DeAngelo Williams aren't chopped liver. And yet, all 4 of the teams in question are 0-2 in a typically topsy turvy league. I'm not agreeing with the original point, just simply pointing that out.
  2. ^^ Added, thanks for the good find. Not sure what the deal with interleague play is this year as I said in my previous post. We are supposed to play the AL West, and so far the Astros and Cardinals are doing this exact thing. The Pirates however are playing the AL Central. I am assuming that since there are 4 teams in the AL West and 6 in the NL Central, each team will play at least 2 series against AL West teams. The Pirates will be the exception and will play the AL Central. This is what I've dug up so far from the AL West and NL Central teams: Cardinals: @ Royals vs. Royals @ A's vs. Angels Pirates: @ Seattle @ Indians vs. Angels Astros: @ Texas vs. Texas vs. A's vs. Mariners @ Angels (something isn't right here...) Cubs: @ White Sox vs. White Sox (Will not play A's according to A's blog, Angels according to posted link) Reds: vs. Angels Brewers: Unknown
  3. It won't feel right until he makes a prediction that ends up horribly inaccurate :) Just kidding welcome back Peter.
  4. I dont know why but that celebration looks Kurt Gibsonesque
  5. ^^ Simply put, the team scores when Rex is leading the offense. Using points allowed (easiest to sort on the page im using, passing YPG would certainly be better), here is the ranking among the 32 teams of the defenses he has started against: 2003 - vs. Minnesota (W 13-10) - 23rd 2003 - vs. Washington (W 27-24) - 24th 2003 - @ Kansas City (L 3-31) - 19th 2004 - vs. Detroit (L 16-20) - 18th 2004 - @ Green Bay (W 21-10) - 23rd 2004 - @ Minnesota (L 22-27) - 26th 2005 - @ Green Bay (W 24-17) - 20th 2005 - vs. Carolina (L 21-29) - 5th 2006 - @ Green Bay (W 26-0) - 30th 2006 - vs. Detroit (W 34-7) - 21st Currently, the Vikings are 11th. So in terms of points allowed, Grossman has only faced one defense ranked in the top half of football for that year.
  6. You know whats funny? I am not even disgusted by this. I think its hilarious. The world needs characters, and Pete Rose is one of the least harmful of them out there.* *Not considering the fact that gambling can have dangerous consequences.
  7. Also found the all important Cardinals schedule and added
  8. But he's fast, he has to hit at the top of the lineup
  9. Re: Aram's big game Really? Best time for us? Please explain to me how the point at which a team that is 62-89 is the best time. Are you sure the best time wouldn't have been in April and May when we still had a shot at the playoffs and ARam hit .197? Are you sure its good for "us" that Aramis is getting hot just before he has a chance to void out of his contract and resign for lots more? Well it is good for one person....Dusty Baker. Just the right time to keep a 100 loss season off the old resume. BTW, for the people planning on ripping on me for yet another Dusty quote, save your time. I'm half kidding/nitpicking here. More or less it was an interesting comment that I wanted to share and comment on. I'm sure it was completely innocent and was not meant to be taken the way that I have.
  10. Can I join? Obviously I won't be able to compete in the overall, but it would be fun to compare Edit: And I'm not trying to change your rules or anything, but I think it would be fun/interest if everyone put in their "Lock of the Week" along with their picks. Optional obviously
  11. Just saw the highlights on Sportscenter. Amazing. Makes you wish the North Side of Chicago had a baseball team to root for. Seems like it would be fun. BTW, did the Rockies forget to put the balls in the humidor or something? As a side thought, wouldn't it be cool if on random days, without telling anyone, they didnt put the ball in the humidor. That random variable would make it awesome.
  12. Found the tentative home Padres schedule and added it
  13. They have been winning divisions as long as I can remember. The first year that I really really got into baseball past the Cubs was 1991 watching the LCS's on CBS. I can still hear their theme music in my head.
  14. Would that be followed shortly after by Air Mail? No they will be sold together at random with the same book exact book covers, so people won't know which one they are going to get until they buy it.

  16. Wow, he must be busy. He also wrote How to Put up Career Numbers and Still be Hated by All I know, not a very creative name, but he insisted on it
  17. The Michigan-Wisky game REAKS of a trap. I know UW has no offense, but I could see Michigan laying down to Wisconsin. As much as I enjoyed last weeks win, I still can't shake the feeling that its the same old Michigan and the OSU/ND/PSUs on the schedule won't take them down, it will be the Minny/UW's that will
  18. I still can't wrap my mind around a team other then the Braves as NL East champs.
  19. One that will be written (or possibly produced into a feature length film): Dude, Where's My Job? by Dusty Baker
  20. ok I will keep up as long as people post other team's schedules or schedule changes as they are made
  21. I know this is a bit premature, but the White Sox sent out a press release that tells their tentative schedule, and their two series against the Cubs are listed. So as the winter goes on, this could be a thread that is bumped as other teams release their schedules or if the Cubs actually release theirs first. Note: The NL Central supposedly will be playing the AL West in interleague play this year. On an A's blog, I found out that the A's will NOT be one of the teams that the Cubs play. However, according to the following link from a Pittsburgh paper, we will be playing the AL Central again: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06223/712802-63.stm White Sox: @ Wrigley Field - May 18-May 20 @ US Cellular Field - June 22-June 24 Source: http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/whitesox/cs-060918whitesox2007schedule,1,2034098.htmlstory?coll=cs-whitesox-headlines Braves: @ Wrigley Field - June 1-3 @ Turner Field - April 18-19, June 7-10 Source: http://atlanta.braves.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/schedule/tentative.jsp?c_id=atl&year=2007 Padres: @ Petco Park - May 22-24 @ Wrigley Field - April 16-17 Note: Only Petco games are confirmed Source: http://sandiego.padres.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/sd/schedule/tentative_2007_season_schedule.jsp Cardinals @ Wrigley Field - April 20-22, August 17-20 @ Busch Stadium - April 27-29, July 23-25, September 14-16 Source: http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/stories.nsf/cardinals/story/3502F2256B8B824E862571EE001532CB?OpenDocument Astros @ Minute Maid Park - August 6-8, September 11-13 @ Wrigley Field - April 9-11 Note: Only MMP games are confirmed Source: http://houston.astros.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/press_releases/press_release.jsp?ymd=20060919&content_id=1670969&vkey=pr_hou&fext=.jsp&c_id=hou Rangers @ Ameriquest Field - June 19-21 Source: http://www.kltv.com/Global/story.asp?S=5439813 Dodgers @ Dodger Stadium - May 25-27 @ Wrigley Field - September 3-6 Source: http://losangeles.dodgers.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/schedule/tentative.jsp?c_id=la&year=2007 Rockies @ Coors Field - August 9-12 Note: Only home games were listed Source: http://colorado.rockies.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/schedule/tentative.jsp?c_id=col&year=2007 Brewers @ Miller Park - April 6-8, June 4-6 @ Wrigley Field - April 23-25, June 29-July 1, August 28-30 Source: http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/schedule/tentative.jsp?c_id=mil&year=2007 Reds @ Great American Ballpark - April 2, 4-5, July 27-29, Sept 28-30 @ Wrigley Field - April 13-15, August 14-16, Sept 17-19 Source: http://cincinnati.reds.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/schedule/tentative.jsp?c_id=cin&year=2007 Phillies @ Citizens Bank Ballpark - May 11-13 @ Wrigley Field- July 30-Aug 2 Source: http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/schedule/tentative.jsp?c_id=phi&year=2007 Pirates Unconfirmed Location - July 5-8 Source: kctigers23 Diamondbacks Unconfirmed Location - August 24-26 Source: kctigers23 Nationals Unconfirmed Location - July 2-5 Source: kctigers23 Monthly Schedule: 94 of 162 games confirmed (58.0%) 110 of 162 games unconfirmed (67.9) April: 2 @ Reds 4-5 @ Reds 6-8 @ Brewers 9-11 vs. Astros 13-15 vs. Reds 16-17 vs. Padres 18-19 @ Braves 20-22 vs. Cardinals 23-25 vs. Brewers 27-29 @ Cardinals May: 11-13 @ Phillies 18-20 vs. White Sox 22-24 @ Padres 25-27 @ Dodgers June: 1-3 vs. Braves 4-6 @ Brewers 7-10 @ Braves 19-21 @ Rangers 22-24 @ White Sox 29-30 vs. Brewers July: 1 vs. Brewers 2-5 vs./@ Nationals 5-8 vs./@ Pirates 23-25 @ Cardinals 27-29 @ Reds 30-31 vs. Phillies August: 1-2 vs. Phillies 6-8 @ Astros 9-12 @ Rockies 14-16 vs. Reds 17-20 vs. Cardinals 24-26 vs./@ Diamondbacks 28-30 vs. Brewers September: 3-6 vs. Dodgers 11-13 @ Astros 14-16 @ Cardinals 17-19 vs. Reds 28-30 @ Reds
  22. I was just discussing this with a friend. What if Z's deteriorating back condition causes him to be oft injured, Lee retires and Ramirez leaves? Do we even have a lot of tradable assets to 'blow up' the team with?
