  1. Oh yeah, that was Lilly in that confrontation. For some reason I thought it was someone else
  2. Nice! I almost gave up on it
  3. Yeah, didn't you hear? They changed the rules so that the least amount of runs wins
  4. Man may be bad at his job, but you can't knock him for not caring or not trying. Get well Jim...
  5. I'll never forget that rainy night at Wrigley in September when he managed to make 4 errors in 3 innings. The 9 of us in the bleachers were pissed.
  6. So hey guys, what were those whispers that Hendry is starting to come around on OBP? Soriano, Ward....
  7. HAHAHA we won't even get the best of the mediocre pitchers. That's classic
  8. How does Pie deserve a shot? He really has to work on his OBP before we give him a shot
  9. Say it once and for all...if you had to make a choice, who would you rather have: Gil Meche or Ted Lilly. My vote: Meche
  10. Theres no one really " just south" of us besides St Louis.. But who? Carpenter for Mateo, Marmol and Jones Wait, we might need to get someone else from them to make it even.
  11. I am too but that doesn't really say much
  12. I've always thought it is a little presumptious to criticze a GM if a player chooses to go elsewhere. It sounds the Cubs offered him a deal, and so did LA. The player is incomplete control in the free aganet market, one of the few times in their career. If he wanted to stay out west that is more of a relfection of Schmidt's personal interest, not a negative against Hendry. If Hendry didn't even pursue him, then there would be an argument. But it looks like he did, and Schmidt decided to stay on the West Coast. The fact that the Cubs weren't mentioned as teams the Dodgers beat out to get Schmidt and the Cards were is the reason for my comment. Anyways, Jimbo is likely in full freakout mode and is currently outbidding himself several times to lock up Lilly and Meche The Rosenthal article claims that he beat out the Cardinals and I believe the Mariners.
  13. What do you think will happen if we don't get Meche or Lilly?

  15. Can we have him please
  16. I'm starting to think that Schmidt all along has wanted to goto the West Coast, but obviously his agent is not going to eliminate 80% of the teams from competing (BIDDING) for his services. However, the midwest teams might end up bidding the Mariners, Dodgers, etc. out of contention and he might end up afterall in the midwest. Which side of I-55 will he end up on though?
  17. Works for me Yup, if we got Schmidt, that completely changes my desire for Lilly. I'd bring him on as a 4th-5th starter if the rest of our rotation is Zambrano/Schmidt/Hill/Miller (or Prior)
  18. he threw 97 back in 2000 before he tore apart his shoulder. Nice! So we are getting the 2000 version right?.....RIGHT?
  19. You gotta wonder why the Trib Co waited for the worst FA crop in awhile mixed with an escalating spending market (aided partially by the team) to decide to become big spenders finally.
  20. If Jimbo lets the Cardinals outbid the Cubs and scoop up Schmidt, he should be fired immediately unless the Cardinals blow him away with an offer of like 18 million a year.
  21. OK, I just researched for about 40 minutes...I can't figure out for the life of my why Gil Meche is desired so strongly. I know supposedly is an underachiever or something, but why?? What in his career shows us that he is going to every pan out?
  22. Do you value Mr. BB himself Carlos Marmol anywhere near Hill? Hill is ready to go NOW. Marmol has great stuff but is still a year or two away IMO. Strangely enough I put Mateo over Marmol RIGHT NOW. Ugh, where'd you get the quote from? My bad... http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-061205bestworst,1,3549563.story?coll=cs-home-headlines If it makes you feel any better, Phil Rogers wrote it, so its probably not true :)
