  1. I predicted 78. I'm sorry but I didn't think the team looked that great on paper before the season, and it doesn't look that great now either. The roster looks like a bunch of random pieces put together.
  2. 8.5 games out of first on May 12th. Last years team didnt fall behind more than 8.5 games for good until May 18th...so ummm thats not improvement.
  3. Watch game film from last year and realize that this is an improvement
  4. I haven't heard Ron Santo talk since I turned on the radio just before the HR
  5. Ironically I just looked it up and coming into this game they were 6th in the league in Bullpen ERA at 3.17
  6. Heh...we waited though an hour long rain delay for this?
  7. Anyone listening on 720? Is Ron still alive?
  8. Man this team is making my 78 win prediction before the season looking good.
  9. One more out to preserve the win if the rain comes again soon.
  10. Game thread is quiet tonight..is everyone at Looptopia?
  11. I wanted to take advantage of this to get a pair of Field Box IF but of course they were sold out and only singles left.
  12. fitting? 49 wins and a sweep of Miami was what to you? I expected to at least make the ECF this year. We can't even win a damn game in the 2nd round? I didn't. If they beat NJ I would have. I think when the season is over, we'll look back and be satisfied over what we accomplished. Look, we ran into a team that is better than us, matches up extremely well on us, and has championship intentions. If it was a more talented team that didnt matchup as well, we'd win at least 2 games. But we ran into a more talented buzzsaw. We need to make changes, but we aren't far off. Besides, who knows, maybe we'll get lucky and grab a 1-2 pick :)
  13. game's not over. Is there any doubt that the Cubs will go down 1-2-3 in the ninth? Nah. I expect a fake rally here. This game calls for it. Hmmmm...been awhile since one of the Cubs tripped and fell going from third to home. Gotta be a wild pitch with the Cubs runner getting thrown out at the plate on a bad call by the ump. What about a 2 run double followed by an appeal to the umpire, when the tying run is out because he didnt touch third base?
  14. He is hitting .390. We need some more guys to press. He was hitting .424 last week. And you thought that would hold up? He also has a 17 game hit streak. Yes, I was hoping he'd make a run at Rogers Hornsby
  15. He is hitting .390. We need some more guys to press. He was hitting .424 last week.
  16. Derrek set the bar so high for himself the first month of the season that this little slump he is in is disheartening.
  17. If this was the locked in Lee of last week he would have already homered.
  18. I was at that game in the bleachers and also got pelted by beer. Everyone in the bleachers was litering the field with garbage.
  19. A- Corey isnt worth that much. His lifetime OBP is lower than Neifi Perez's now. The guy is just a bum. B- We thankfully dont need more OFs. C- I would become a Cardinal fan. (ok, i wouldnt...but i would be very very angry.) On a happy note, Jon Leicester was one of the guys brought up to replace some of the Orioles DL cats. Nice to see him reappear after some serious type surgery. Hopefully he will do well. yeah, he's a "bum" for not having a .400 OBP. man, he must eat fetuses in his spare time. i bet he's the cause of global warming, too! watch out everyone.... corey patterson is coming to eat your children, even those that are still in the womb. he and that "headcase" kyle farnsworth will probably team up. what will we do? Yeah but its not even a .300 OBP. Its .297 for his career. That's pathetic and yes it makes him a bum
  20. I'm guessing that he has a lot less time to hang around during the regular season. When he is in Arizona for spring training, he's presumably not with his family so all he has to do is write about the Cubs and search for interesting story lines. During the season, he has to write a column per game, spend several hours at the ballpark interviewing players and watching the game and then come home and spend time with his family.
