  1. One of the comments there mentioned that the Cubs are due for injuries because they had none last season. Come again? Prior - Missed full season Soriano - Missed about 10 games in the spring and 3 weeks in the fall with injuries. Was on DL in August. Wood - Did not start season until Mid-August Lee - Mostly healthy but missed 6 straight games in mid-July Ramirez - Was on the DL in June Dempster - Spend 2-3 weeks on the DL Ward - Spent multiple trips on DL Pagan - Missed August and September with coilitus Blanco - Missed 3 months of the season with injury Guzman - Season ended in June. I'm not saying we were as injury plagued as years past, but we didn't have 0 injuries all season.
  2. Funny how the BCS works out. The voters hand select LSU to play OSU in the title game, jumping Missouri, West Virginia, Georgia and Kansas, all who have 2 losses or less and look what happens. Missouri destroys Alabama West Virginia destroys Oklahoma Georgia destroys Hawaii Kansas (1 loss) beats Virginia Tech Also for good measure, 2 loss USC who was 1 spot behind LSU in the second to last poll, Destroyed Illinois Now obviously you can make a good case that all 5 of those teams didn't deserve it over LSU (Missouri lost to OU twice, WV lost to Pitt in the last week, Georgia didn't even goto the SEC title game, Kansas didn't goto the Big 12 title game) but its still interesting.
  3. isnt gooz out for '08? probably at least the first half Maybe one day he can get his first major league win
  4. Kansas' uniforms look way too much like the Giants
  5. Man it would be really weird if a 1 loss team from a power conference doesn't win the National Title over several 2 loss teams
  6. OK, I didn't mind when they took McDonough, but now this is starting to irk me.
  7. C - Pierzinski 1B - Konerko 2B - Richar 3B - Crede SS - Cabrera RF - Dye CF - Swisher? LF - Fields DH - Thome Seems weird that they would make a trade for an OF that can't play center. Also, Quinten should not be a bench player at this stage of his development. Me thinks another trade is occuring. Most likely Crede will be shipped off so Fields can play 3B and Quinten or Swisher to Left, but maybe Thome is shipped off somewhere for pitching and Swisher becomes the DH
  8. Would anyone have rather had Swisher than Fukudome based on his numbers, salary, age, arb years and proven ML record?
  9. It's not a road upset. They dominated Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh 3 weeks ago. And the Jags are actually favored by 2. Steelers have way too many OL injuries, are missing their best run defender, and their DBs stink. Jacksonville could win by double digits. I realize that they killed Pitt 3 weeks ago. My opinion is based on nothing other than a gut feeling and the fact that everyone has jumped on the Jags bandwagon and have picked them as a road team to beat the Steelers.
  10. I used to agree with that until I played fantasy basketball this year. I think it works very similar.
  11. i don't understand the idea of hating on a system that rewards teams for not losing in a short season and then advocating a system that kicks a team out that loses one game in a shorter season. because the system in the season that sucks right now is trying to put just 2 teams in the championship. look at it right now. osu is probably the 6th or 7th best team in the nation. if you have an 8 team format, then you wont have any huge glaring omissions...like the best team, USC. I agree. And what is interesting to see is all 3 BCS games have featured a case for a two loss team to be in the national title race. I was hoping after the Rose Bowl that USC would have enough momentum with their slaughter of Illinois to have the AP vote them number 1 if LSU wins, but similar drubbings by Georgia and West Virginia have made that difficult. If LSU wins next week, there are going to be a lot of people up in arms over this BCS system.
  12. Pittsburgh/Jacksonville is one of those games where everyone is picking the road upset and the home team ends up coming out on top. I just feel it. So my picks are Seattle NYG Pittsburgh SD
  13. One interesting point to mention. One of the people on our favorite Orioles website mentioned this. He is not one of the 3 insiders I'm aware of, but he mentioned that he exchanged some emails, presumably with someone in the know: Roberts? Could that hitter be Tyler Colvin? Could the Cubs be trying to go after Roberts + Cabrera? Just pure speculation on my part, but it's been really slow here lately, so I want something to talk about.
  14. And the U wasn't even involved!
  15. App State > Florida
  16. What exactly is a natural utility man? http://www.vincekeenan.com/uploaded_images/harrington-725920.jpg Scary that it took you only three minutes to think of this guy, find his picture and post it in this thread. Very scary... That show always creeped me out for some reason. FYI, a Mets outsider I know believes this trade has actually already been completed, and voided by the commissioners office. Why would it be voided?
  17. No because it just proves that Prior did not want to be a Cubs any more. If anything I hope he does so I don't have to be angry with Jim Hendry for not tendering him.
  18. Doubtful, the Indians are working on an extension right now with CC.
  19. Don't major league baseball teams have more important things to worry about? I'm sure they don't like their inside information exposed to the general public. It can ruin their leverage and negotiating position with other teams, and it gets the fans riled up for things that may not happen.
  20. HAH! It seems that Belkast guy has been taken for a ride by his source who found out that he was leaking that info to the message board. Everything that you read today from him should be assumed to be false.
  21. More speculation that they are pulling our chain http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/sports/roch/blog/2007/12/final_word_on_roberts.html
  22. I haven't actually been to their site, so pardon my stupidity. But, if these "Insider's" were purposely duping Cub fans visiting the site, wouldn't they also be duping their own fellow fans and tearing down any future credibility among those fellow fans? I've been reading their site for a while now. The insiders only give what they have heard from their "sources". It's not to say they can't be wrong or that things don't change from one minute to the next. They have been right with most of the stuff I have looked at over there. Most of the posters not only trust them but defend them so I don't think they would be pulling chains. Just my opinion. Unless the entire board was in on it
