  1. Guys, after shivering through last nights brutal game, I've decided a night in my warm house alternating between GTA and watching the cubs game is much more appealing. I am hoping to rid myself of tonight's bleacher seats (2 of them). Ideally, I'd like to sell them for face ($40) but I am willing to listen to best offers, as my desire to get rid of these is pretty great. PM me an offer. I live in Wrigelyville and will be able to meet anytime after 5:30.
  2. Thoughts about this game: -Marquis is horrible. Has he had a start all year where he didn't give up liners all over the place? Maybe his second start, I can't remember. You can't put someone in your rotation who goes 2-0 to EVERY hitter if you want to be a very good team. -Sad to say, I don't think Hart is a major league pitcher right now. I don't blame Lou for putting him in the situation he did, although I couldn't believe no one was warming up in the 5th when the first 2 came on. In fact I don't think anyone started warming up until after the bases were loaded. It's a one run game Lou. -The Brewers look awesome. I know this has been said a million times, but they managed to stay within 2 games of us despite everyone on their team hitting below their potential, without Cameron, and with Sheets or Gallardo not in the rotation at the same time. Meanwhile, the Cubs pitching has been mediocre, but their bats have been awesome and this is where we are at. If the Brewers stay healthy, I expect them to win the division by at least 5 games, assuming no moves are made at the deadline (and you know there will be, possibly by both sides. I expect the Brewers to make a big trade in July, Cubs better respond) -That said, the Cubs will be alright. It's amazing they were able to walk what 8 times despite not getting very much solid contact on Sheets all night. If they can walk consistently, this is about as worse of a slump as you can get with this team. The key is, they are going to need to make a move for a #2/#3 starter if they want to keep up with the Brewers. I think the Brewers are a 95 win team, the Cubs a 90 win team right now.
  3. I would think Brewers fans are saying the same thing about Dempster.
  4. Obviously being showcased for the Greene trade ;)
  5. You'd have to pay me to go to this one. Its going to be miserable out there. Those of us who bought their 9 game plan back in January thought this was going to be a great time for a game. Alas, with the weather pathetic and GTA IV being picked up after work, I have no idea why I am going. I have tickets to tomorrows game as well... At least with the cold weather, the Brewers bats might be cold, making Jason Marquis more effective. At least that's the way I drew it up in my head.
  6. Look at his home/away splits: http://www.baseball-reference.com/pi/bsplit.cgi?n1=greenkh01&year=00#locat-hmvis Get him away from those cavernous ballparks in the NL west and he tends to rake. You mean like those cavernous places where offense goes to die like Arizona and Coors? The splits would be more informative if the OPS+ number was adjusted for the league, not the team also. The split is obviously hinged more on Petco than anywhere else. It's a pretty startling difference, especially in regard to his power numbers. It's not a stretch at all to think that his home numbers would drastically improve hitting in a place like Wrigley as his home park instead of Petco. Didn't people here do an analysis and determine that Greene could have hit 10 more HRs last year if he played somewhere other than Petco?
  7. Soriano, LF Johnson, CF Lee, 1B Ramirez, 3B Fukudome, RF Soto, C Greene, SS DeRosa, 2B please
  8. From RealGM: Exact passage in the Union-Tribune article:
  9. If you are going to use that green text thing, can you guys agree to use one that doesn't blind me with brightness? How about this one?
  10. Maybe he could be like that Boss guy on the Giants
  11. It's so Angelo to not pick a QB just because everyone wants him to. It's almost as if hes doing in in order to make a point
  12. I guess it's going to be another fight to the playoffs and not just a coasting. I was really hoping this team was going to be different that the other Cubs teams I know. And I know I'm overreacting, but I really bit hard on the Cubs being amazing during this latest hot streak
  13. Fukudome 3 for his last 20 I believe. This will be our first losing homestand/road trip Homestand 1: 3-3 Road trip 1: 4-2 Homestand 2: 7-1 Roadtrip 2: 2-3
  14. THIS. TEAM. SUCKS. RIGHT. NOW. Wish we had a power guy up here.
  15. Meh who cares about the standings. Obviously, I'd want the Brewers to lose every game but I say just win as many as you can and hope that you're ahead in August. Then start worrying.
  16. Yes. That's a 6 after three straught 7's And yet we are in danger of being 1-3 during that run. The lesson? Pitch your starters 5 innings only.
  17. Sheets vs. Marquis Suppan vs. Dempster Gallardo vs. Zambrano So the Cubs will probably win 1 out of 3
  18. Well I believe Sheets is pitching Tuesday assuming he's healthy.
  19. Team LOB statistics: Saturday: 11 Friday: 10 Thursday: 3 Wednesday: 11 Tuesday: 13 Monday: 6
  20. Watch the Nationals show the Cubs how to hit with RISP.
  21. It's going to get ugly, thats for sure. Luckily Ronny is trying his best to force Lou's hand. Next weekend I had better see a lineup like this Lou: Soriano Cedeno Lee ARam Fukudome Soto DeResoa Pie i hate it too that his .337/.406/.465 line has impeded this offense in comparison to Ronny's .375/.432/.575, yeah, it has a little. what an incredibly asinine reason to bash someone. they've been playing concurrently much of the time but that probably doesnt matter for your ridiculous argument. So because they are both playing in a game and not in substitution of one another I can't compare statistics? I didn't realize comparing batting statistics is a "ridiculous argument". Your right man, Theriot is a much better ballplayer than Cedeno is or ever will be. Theriot's line is obviously good. Take out his 2 CS, and his 2-3 DPs he's hit into out of his OBP and its not looking too good. (edit: I realize you can't do that, but my point is the quality of his numbers are not as great as it seems.)
  22. Is it just that Gameday sucks, or was the 2nd pitch to Ronny (called strike) in the exact same place as the 1st one (ball)? It was.
  23. I have a feeling the Nats tack on an insurance run here.
  24. 6 base runners 0 runs 4 of the base runners have been in scoring position with less and 2 outs.
