  1. You work for one hour? He said he's leaving work in 15 minutes, not leaving for work
  2. "We just signed that Japanese guy with the name I probably shouldn't say on tv to spite the Cu- I mean to get some more left handed hitting on our ballclub"
  3. Thats 3 very random places.
  4. Pie won't hit first, but I agree Fukudome looks to be our 2 hitter.
  5. What did they say about the Patriots? As your average sports fan, I would really like to know what the Patriots are doing every hour of every day. Anyone know how Tom Brady's stomach is sitting after his Jalapeño Omlette he had this morning? On a serious note, on Monday night my friend from Boston IM'd me to ask me what I thought about "the game". When I said "What game?" He acted like I was a complete moron because I didn't watch or obsessively follow the Patriots-Ravens game (I was at the Bulls/Mavs game). Boston people need to be stopped.
  6. Maybe he told Dye Cabrera meaning Orlando and then pulled the ol' switcharoo
  7. 1. Babe Ruth 2. Ted Williams 3. Barry Bonds 4. Honus Wagner 5. Willie Mays 6. Hank Aaron 7. Josh Gibson 8. Cy Young 9. Lou Gehrig 10. Joe DiMaggio 11. Rickey Henderson 12. Roger "The Rocket" Clemens 13. Alex Rodriguez 14. Sandy Koufax 15. Jimmie Foxx 16. Pedro Martinez 17. Ty Cobb 18. Mel Ott 19. Rogers Hornsby 20. Albert Pujols 21. Stan Musial 22. Nolan Ryan 23. Mickey Mantle 24. Walter Johnson 25. Sammy Sosa 26. Satchel Paige 27. Greg Maddux 28. Cap Anson 29. Manny Ramirez 30. Bob Feller 31. Christy Matthewson 32. Mike Schmidt 33. Joe Morgan 34. Roberto Clemente 35. Vladimir Guerrero 36. Dale Murphy 37. Johnny Bench 38. Jim Edmonds 39. Todd Helton 40. Frank Thomas 41. Hank Greenberg 42. Mariano Rivera 43. Randy Johnson 44. Billy Wagner 45. Rusty Kuntz 46. Joe Nathan 47. Dick Pole 48. Joe Kennedy 49. Bill Mazeroski 50. Ron Santo At least he'll make this list
  8. Bruce, can you tell me what is going on with the Red Sox and Yankees? Also if you could shed some light on the Barry Bonds situation. Oh wait, you don't work for ESPN, nevermind.
  9. woah...That would be crazy if something does go down today...Pleaseee be true and to the Cubs..If it's the Royals..We Riot After hearing about a big offer my first guess would be the Cubs too, but with the way the Royals have been shocking people....I wouldn't be surprised...
  10. I was doing some reading about Fukudome and I came across this 'scouting report' from Nov 3rd on this Mets blog Link: http://www.metsblog.com/2007/11/03/blog-scouting-report-on-kosuke-fukudome/ I love Fukudome's potential, but I'd be worried about giving $13 million to a player with those numbers. Gotta pay for that OBP though (ironically)
  11. bwhwhahahahhahah! Looks like all that grit talk has gotten into his head.
  12. I hope that he realizes that Kansas City kinda....sucks
  13. Trading Tim Lincecum for so little would be so wrong. Can't we just offer them Pie and Marshall and take him. Zambrano Lincecum Lilly Hill Marquis/Gallagher/Prior
  14. Andrew Miller and Cameron Maybin = Touchable. Sam Flud = Untouchable. This is why we don't win. I don't care if I'm taking the quote out of context. It's just stupid really. I come on here in the morning hoping to read rumors of some new names being floated around for the Cubs, and instead I read that our 91st best prospect is untouchable.
  15. Personally I prefer wild rampant speculation from people's brother's girlfriend's uncle's friends who work as a janitor in the ballpark.
  16. If you feel like answering one more question Bruce. Your odds that the following happen: -Cubs don't trade Prior -Cubs trade Prior to a division rival (i.e. Reds) My biggest fear is seeing Prior rise again with a team like Cincinnati. Even if you don't get to my question, thanks for the impromptu Q/A session. It's one thing to answer questions when sitting in the press box at Wrigley, its another to come on here after running around a hotel convention room all day!
  17. I read that too, but I didn't want to post in on here and get blamed for starting a 93 page thread.
  18. It's not Santana but at least the Cubs did something I guess.
  19. Man I really don't want Boston to get another superstar. Garnett, Allen, Moss, Santana in the last year. Meanwhile, Chicago's top superstars are Brian Urlacher, Carlos Zambrano, umm....Ben Wallace?
  20. I'm guessing that Prior privately requested a fresh start on a new team or has pretty much threatened to not sign next season.
  21. You guys know why JH is doing this right? 2005 - Copies WS Champ Red Sox and acquires "character guys" 2006 - Copies WS Champ White Sox and acquires gritty scrappy guys 2007 - Copies WS Champ Cardinals and acquires bad overrated/over the hill players (Floyd, Monroe, Kendall, Marquis) 2008 - Copies WS Champ Red Sox and looks for lefties (Red Sox had 4 players who could hit lefty in their every day lineup - 2 were switch hitters)
  22. Two separate transactions, obviously. Although, if Beane liked a prospect or two on some team interested in Prior, that could help. Whoops, you mean Craig Monroe really isn't being traded for Carl Crawford?
