  1. This whole rumor made me realize how much I don't want Crawford and how overrated he is.
  2. wth? Not to question your reputability but I would take any rumor of a trade involving a bad player who isn't even under the Cubs control over a good player with a grain of salt No prob, just repeating what I heard on the update at 11am from wmvp 11am? Its 9:15?
  3. Thats irresponsible reporting if they report Monroe is the head of any trade package. Anyways, I'd rather have Fukudome than Crawford any day of the week. -Fukudome is better in the area we need more help in, OBP -Fukudome doesn't cost anything in terms of players -Fukudome will probably be making less than Crawford by the end of his contract.

  5. Furcal? Hendry wanted him or Pierre and wound up with one. Last season he said he would get Soriano and he did. If he wants Fukudome just as bad, I can only hope he would be able to get it done. I would guess. And this is just me guessing here. That since Hendry got rid of Jones, he either already has a handshake (or bow), or is extremely confident he has Fukudome pretty much signed at this point (per talks with him I suppose). I don't think its necessarily that close. I think Fukudome is his first option and there have been talks, but I think Hendry sees the market for the type of OF's he is looking for and between Fukudome, Guillen, Cameron, etc he is confident in getting one of them.
  6. I think that fans should have veto power in all trades. I think that every team in every sport should have a group of 100,000 fans that vote on all trades, big and small. For each trade, 5,000 of these fans get randomly selected to vote on a trade. If both team's fans vote no on a trade, it should not occur.
  7. I just asked my Tigers fan in the office about the trade. When I was upset he asked me "What? You really like Jacque Jones?" and I responded "No, I hate Omar Infante" and he said "Good, you should he sucks" I then asked him for a player comparison and he responded with "Neifi Perez". Now I know why the Tigers didn't go anywhere this year.. So that sounds like a player I want!
  8. Just when we were starting to like Jacque http://www.chicagotribune.com/media/photo/2007-09/32877142.jpg
  9. Typical Cubs offseason: Cubs needs: OF power bat Cubs acquire: Weak hitting MI's Kaz Matsui and Omar Infante Cubs lose: OF semi power bat
  10. http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/6165/fukudomejk2.jpg I'll take 3!! 2 children and 1 adult!! That looks so awesome, I might buy one even though there is only rumors that the Cubs are interested in him
  11. At least Winn has a .345 career OBP But as a starting OF, horrible idea
  12. http://tampabay.rays.mlb.com/index.jsp?c_id=tb Look at the header logo, it appears to be rays of sun
  13. As a true Yankee fan, I have been through losing and accept that while developing some younger players that we will have mediocre seasons! I will take it to lower the payroll and get some hunger back in this team. I think Girardi and O'neill can bring some of that back. I have missed the intensity of teams past. You come to a Cubs board and you reason by saying that you've been through losing? (only kidding). Either way, if the Yankees are really going to do it this way, it can only be good for baseball. Now its obviously that there is only one real "evil empire" and its about 4 hours NE of NYC
  14. There is nothing wrong with what the Yankee fan is suggesting. He just has to understand that with this change in philosophy, they might have to accept a couple of years of rebuilding.
  15. I agree, but I've been saying that for 2-3 years now. First with the Gomes/Baldelli/Kazmir/Crawford incarnation and now the Young/Dukes/Longoria one.
  16. Actually to be completely honest, I've always felt it was A-Rod's fault the Cubs lost game 6 in 2003...
  17. I can't wait until its revealed that DeRosa will be moving to RF, Kaz at 2B and Theriot at SS. This place is going to be nuts
  18. Wait you can't? I bet you were saying the same thing when we resigned Neifi, signed Burnitz, signed Jacque, etc etc etc.
  19. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2007/11/11_free_agents.html No names named, but it claims 11 current FAs are named in the report, with one being Jose Guillen. Anyone want to play a game and guess the remaining 10? Here is my guess: Barry Bonds* Mike Cameron* Jose Guillen* Luis Gonzalez Alex Rodriguez Sammy Sosa Jerry Hairston Jr.* Mike Piazza Kenny Rogers Octavio Dotel Shawn Green *= implicated at one time to either buying or using steroids. Here is a list of FAs to choose from: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/features/freeagents
  20. Is there anyway we could get a deal done if we included Z? Z, Pie, Hill... Would we even want to do that?
  21. Now that there is only 1 year left on his contract, I wouldn't be pissed if he was back
  22. I doubt the Cubs could come up with a package to match some of those other teams.
  23. You can't look at it that way. It sucks to say this but, Hendry overpaid Soriano to save his job.
