    Brewers win. 6-1 is a pretty impressive start. But they did start 20-5 last year too. BTW, Jason Kendall 3-4 tonight. He is the best hitter ever.

    He signed on August 14th, and your right even if they could, I highly doubt they'd trade him unless it was for a superstar of Cabrera's caliber.

    Might as well throw Fontenot in there because I doubt he wants to be on a team with Edgar. The good news is, I believe Henrdy has a pretty decent history with Dombrowski. A couple trades I remember recently are the Jones trade, the Monroe trade, the Neifi trade, the Farnsworth trade. So trading with the Tigers wouldn't be a problem if it came to that.

    I think you are seeing a good team being exposed in the first week of the season. Simply put, if they don't hit, they don't have enough pitching to get it done. All I know is that Dombrowski and Illich have invested a lot into this season, and I doubt they'll stand pat as is. But what assets do they have to make moves? Their farm system pretty much doesn't exist unless they want to trade Porcello, and despite Illich's seeminly endless pockets, you gotta figure they don't want to add on much more payroll, so a salary dump may be out of the question. I think eventually when the offense starts hitting they will find a way to get rid of Inge for either a setup guy or a starter in that order. Other than that, maybe Thames or Jacque Jones is expendable with value. Either way, its going to be an interesting season in Motown

    Interesting comments. He thinks Soriano would best help the Cubs hitting 7th, and sort of reiterates what a lot of us were thinking, Soriano does not come up big in clutch situations.

    Eh, Mark Prior is not a Cub anymore, and I doubt there is any real reason for his hatred for the Cubs, other than being in a heated pennant race with them when the comments were made. That said, his stats suck

    I don't understand this. Maybe I am missing some fundamental concept about pitching, but I don't see that great of overuse so far. Marmol has pitched: 155 IP in 2004 153.2 IP in 2005 138 IP in 2006 110.3 IP in 2007 Not including winter league. So he's throwing less innings than he ever has. As far as days used, he is throwing as much as any other setup man in baseball. I understand its not wise to turn a starter who pitches every 5 days into a reliever who can throw 4-5 times a week, but he did appear in 66 games last year, so its not like this is new to him.

    Funny inning. Theriot, Soriano, Ward, Lee and Ramirez bat Theriot and Ward reach Soriano, Lee and Ramirez struck out.

    I'm telling you... Aramis doesn't like walking in 'clutch' situations like this and he will do anything to avoid it. Just like in the first inning when he grounded into the DP with a 3-2 count. He reached for that one too.
