  1. He would also be demoted the next day and maintain his current level of suckatude in AAA right?
  2. C'mon guys, you were seriously expecting the Cardinals to lose a Mitchell Boggs start?
  3. Cardinals up 4-0. Some guy named Boggs is pitching for the Cardinals and is pitching a 1 hit shutout through 3 innings.
  4. I lost $300 on blackjack, broke even at the sportsbook. So it could have been worse :) For the record, I did not bet on or against the Cubs :)
  5. I know I shouldn't be worried about the White Sox, but I really am starting to think that they are the best team in Chicago. Someone talk me off the cliff.
  6. My rankings would be something like 1. Boston Red Sox 2. Philadelphia Phillies 3. Chicago Cubs 4. Chicago White Sox 5. Los Angeles Angels 6. Milwaukee Brewers 7. New York Yankees 8. Arizona Diamondbacks 9. Atlanta Braves 10. Oakland A's
  7. Geo is now up about 400,000 votes now, and Kosuke and Soriano have maintained their leads as well. Funny that the more Geo slumps, the bigger his lead gets.
  8. ^ We missed the playoffs by 3 games in 2004, but point taken.
  9. and how does their success with Rolen, Edmonds playing at near MVP levels and Carpenter pre-TJS have any bearing on the present? if this was any other team, people could objectively realize that they're playing over their heads but the inferiority complex so prevalent precludes people from recognizing this. And Kyle is pointing out why there is an inferiority complex. Historically they have been better. This year when we have gotten out to a historically hot start (for us) a team full of rejects and scrap metal has come together and is only 2.5 games behind us.
  10. It is. How? They will just bring someone else up that will pitch just as well. And if he doesn't becuase Wainwright is their only legit starter, the rest of the team will still fluke their way into winning ball games. Net effect on the Cubs: 0 It would've been easier if you had said something irrational like "the Cardinals are going to win 100 games no matter who's on the roster" to begin with. I know, I just wanted to bait someone. Sorry it had to be you ;)

  12. Yes, teams usually bring up lots of minor leaguers for the HOF game. Someone like Hart will start the game, and the other 8 regulars will play 1 inning. Then the young players come in and play the rest of the game.
  13. I don't get why you people think this is a break for the Cubs...
  14. The Bears will likely be picking up a RB, unless they are dumb enough to guarantee a second round rookie a starting role before training camp begins. I really hope that RB they pick up isn't Shaun Alexander. Who else is out there though? Funny that the Bears are going to open up the season with 1-2 new WRs, a new starting RB, and a 2 headed QB competition.
  15. I think the White Sox are legit...their rotation is starting to throw like the 2005 White Sox, and other than Contreras they aren't Cardinal like flukes. Floyd is pitching a little over his head, but had the potential, Danks was one of, if not the top pitching prospect in baseball 2 years ago.
  16. If there was even a 75% chance Harden would stay healthy, I would take him over every other player mentioned including Sabathia
  17. This will forever be known as the Mark DeRosa game.
  18. Wow this is the first game Marquis has pitched this year where he actually looks good. He's had decent numbers in a couple of other starts, but more or less hasn't pitched all that well in those games. Now Lou will probably leave him in too long and he will give up the lead in the 7th or 8th inning.
  19. Am I reading that right? 0 BB's by Marquis today? Should that be a 10 in there?
  20. Are you trying to tell me that Josh Vitters 4 games played at high A this year aren't acceptable to you? Cmon he put up a .214/.214/.429 line!
  21. I think Soto is starting to turn it around. He's not getting the solid contact and line drives yet, but in the past week I've noticed that he's gone back to being more patient. That last AB was pretty good.
  22. Is Theriot the only regular hitting over .300 now? Geez.
  23. Alright, a walk will help Lee's Sorianoesque OBP
  24. I wish Andruw Jones was playing in this series.
