Not sure if anyone talked about this earlier in the game thread, but I heard on WGN 720 Pregame that Lou said that he will no longer lift Edmonds when he is up against a LHP. Does that worry anyone here? It makes me worry that Reed Johnson's days as a solid platoon partner are over. -

I think he was told to stop throwing so hard and take a little off his pitches to maintain his command. That's just my guess.

OK Marmol is throwing strikes somewhat consistantly. Can we all stop freaking out and pretend this is the Marmol we all knew a week ago?

As long as he doesn't pull a Tampa Don't you remember his performance against the White Sox? He hasn't been getting hit, but come on. His control has been Ankielesque recently. He looked better yesterday, but still. I'm just saying....1 run lead: worried. 3 run lead: he's still unhittable. Actually I was more commenting on how amazing it is that Marmol is in the middle of a "super slump" by his standards, and yet hes on a 7 appearence hitless streak.

I think Mike Greenberg is. Edit: Maybe not. He was born in NY. He might have a soft spot for them though because I listen occasionally and he seems excited to talk about the Cubs.

Marmol hasn't given up a HIT in his last 7 appearences. As long as he doesn't pull a Tampa, he'll be fine.

Also I forgot to mention, he seems to be fine hitting off the bench, getting sporatic ABs and starts. That's valuable and puts him ahead of Cedeno in my mind. As I say that Fontenot makes a boneheaded play and should have scored!!!!

I hated Fontenot earlier this year, but I like him now. Takes walks at a decent rate, hits for some power. If only he could play SS and have decent range.

I'm so glad the Cubs are rumored to be after a top of the rotation starter, because we can't have Lilly in the playoffs as our number 2 stater again. What if he pitches at Wrigley with the wind blowing out?

I'm disappointed to hear of this switch in pitchers. But then again, with the players we have out (Soriano and Johnson), we certainly match up better vs. righties.

I'll tell you who was stealing signs. The Rays in Tampa last week. The way Eyre was getting shelled, vs. both lefties and righties, it was pretty bad.
