  1. Psh, his HRs don't go nearly as far!
  2. Wasn't a bad outing because he didn't get hurt. Wasn't a good outing in that I doubt he will provide much contribution to the team this year.
  3. Lee last 30 games: .361/.437/.504/.941 Theriot last 10 games: .477/.511/.523/1.034 Edmonds last 22 games: .254/.398/.634/1.032 Fontenot last 16 games: .370/.473/.804/1.277
  4. Ramirez last 17 games: .145/.233/.355/.588 DeRosa last 15 games: .204/.295/.370/.655 Soto last 10 games: .205/.220/.385/.605 Fukudome last 18 games: .179/.247/.269/.516
  5. How does Durham go from .218/.295/.343 last year to .293/.385/.414 this year? This move reeks of Matt Lawton to me. Remember how excited we were to get a leadoff hitter with no pop and a decent OBP that year? That didn't work out too well for us. Matt Lawton with Pittsburgh that year .273/.380/.433.
  6. Rickie Weeks?
  7. It's funny how Soriano has been out for 6 weeks, and he's only 2 HRs behind the Cubs team leader. It's amazing how much Lee and even Ramirez lost their power stroke. If you remember, Ramirez only had 27 HRs last year, and this year he's just about on that pace. That's a nice total, but he used to be a 35-40 HR hitter. (Yes I realize he never hit 40 in a season but he had a couple years where only injuries prevented that from happening).
  8. 1030 Arizona time = 12:30 Central right?
  9. And 500 in his last 8. Still crap obviously, just pointing out how big of a difference one game can make. .500 what? OPS?
  10. What's a man got to do to get some praise on this board? .278/.374/.530 8 HR 14 2B in 151 AB this season. Those are some solid numbers. Mike will not be a full timer anytime soon with the Cubs with DeRosa on the squad, but he might make an interesting matchup guy, with DeRosa moving around to 3B, and the OF on days people need rest. Career his OPS vs. LHP is .596 and his OPS vs. RHP is .825. Definitely a valuable guy to have off the bench. I was pretty dispointed when he made the team coming out of Spring Training, but I think this man has proved he is a major league hitter.
  11. There is rumblings that Soriano might be back tomorrow if he fares well in Mesa in the morning. Lou said it was 25/75, but hey I like our odds. We need to come to play every day. With the Brewers/Cardinals playing the next 4 games, someone is ready to gain ground every game.
  12. Guys guys guys. I am the king of letting things like this make my blood boil. I have spent many of nights this summer in rage that some Cardinals team who on paper looks terrible will not go away and is trying to ruin the Cubs dream season. I have let this stuff get to me. But this afternoon, I had an realization. Just ACCEPT that the Cardinals and Brewers are good...maybe as good as our Cubs. Accept that this will be a battle to the end. Accept and enjoy. Pennant races are what baseball is all about. We should be lucky that we have such excitement in our division. These teams keep us on our toes. If the Brewers weren't on our heels, do we turn that Harden trade? Maybe yes, maybe no...maybe not as soon as we did. Just try to accept that our competitors are good enough to win any given day. Accept that the WC is coming out of the Central, and that one of the teams is not going to make the playoffs. It will make the regular season much more exciting and enjoyable, and if we make the playoffs, it will make us feel that much more satisfaction. So don't spend your nights wondering why a team with Cesar Izturis, Aaron Miles, Todd Wellemeyer as key parts is keeping up with the Cubs. Accept that they are good and enjoy what looks to be an exciting race.
  13. One good thing about the starters lately is that they have been going much deeping into ballgames, leaving the bullpen mostly rested.
  14. I still can't understand how we had so many all-stars and that guy was not one of them. He's now tied for 4th in the NL in average with Holliday. And 6th in OBP. You gotta give the Cubs credit where it's due. Many Cubs fans were outraged that the Cubs were not addressing their SS issue in the offseason. So far he's looked really good this year. Still has horrible range at SS and tends to make dumb decisions from time to time, but overall he's been more than fine.
  15. I still can't understand how we had so many all-stars and that guy was not one of them. He's now tied for 4th in the NL in average with Holliday.
  16. The Cardinals lose? That's unpossible. Give it time. This is San Diego. Yeah seriously...at this point of the game yesterday the Padres had a 5-0 lead
  17. That's pretty harsh. He's got a .500 SLG this year..
  18. Because it was a shitty call and the ump knew it. Generally umps are more inclined to allow that sort of thing when they know they screw up. I knew that I would when I was umpiring. I guess so....yelling some words while you walk back to the dugout or throwing your hands in the air is one thing. But hopping up and down like a 2 year old throwing a temper tantrum seems quite a bit excessive.
  19. That strike 3 was so bad, when I saw the pitch land in Soto's glove, I turned my head away from the TV towards my computer screen assuming that he walked and it was 3-1. Then I heard yell "GOT HIM!!" and jerked my head back towards the TV.
  20. How do you not get ejected for that display of emotion?
  21. We havent gotten a single break this series..... UNTIL NOW
  22. It might have been your initial reaction before seeing the replay, so I'm sorry if it was. But I didn't see anything wrong with what Theriot did there. He threw it to the only base he possibly had a play at, and where his teammate was pointing. Yeah initial reaction. And I guess Pence is quick so its doubtful we get the out at first
