  1. Derrek Lee had a 1.171 OPS in June of 2005, just .002 points behind Sosa's June of 98 Ramirez had a 1.164 OPS in July of 2006
  2. That should be fun. Wasn't he one of their top prospects last year?
  3. From Stark's Rumblings column: This would be nice. If they got Fuentes or Sherill I'd be scared.
  4. And so this is why it's not a good idea to work as the gameday staff at Wrigley Field.
  5. Pitching matchups for the series: Zambrano (2.98) vs. Olsen (3.84) Dempster (3.05) vs. Johnson (3.86) Harden (2.12) vs. Volstad (2.16 - 2 starts all year) Marquis (4.44) vs. VandenHurk (6.10) Cubs take 3/4
  6. What annoys me is that I have a lot of friends who are fans of other teams like the Red Sox, Braves, Orioles, etc, and most of them seem to think we have this obsession with Bartman like we talk about him all the time and are ready to kill him if we see him. The thing is, I don't think about Bartman unless a fan of another team brings him up. Get over it already. We have.
  7. No. This was just a Gorden Wiittenmeyer article. Nothing to see here, move along now... Trib has a story about it too.. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-080723-kerry-wood-blister-chicago-cubs,1,6972131.story
  8. That 8th inning felt cleansing. We could easily lose tomorrow, but at this point I'm just happy we won this one. Ramirez breaks his slump with a hit...I develop a grin to see him do what he's paid to do. Soto follows with a solid single on an 0-2 count...my grin gets bigger to see him do what he's paid to do. Fukudome gets a walk...my grin is now very noticable as I see him do what he's paid to do DeRosa walks in a run...I develop a slight giggle as Dusty Baker is proven wrong once again The Reed...well he's not paid to hit righties but the HR made me delirious.
  9. I think this is a bad idea. I know we are paying him a lot of money, but why not bring him up in Sept.
  10. Cubs decided they wanted to play to the level of their competiton so they are matching them in agressive baserunning outs.
  11. Anyone else find it bad that our 4 and 5 hitters tonight are in a combined 0-47 slump? (Ramirez 0-26, Soto 0-21)
  12. Wow, the Dbacks are stupid. They took advantage of some aggressive baserunning, which is good, but they really took it too far. They've already made 2 outs on the basepaths on a pickoff and agressive run home, and they were picked off another time earlier in the game but didn't get caught.
  13. Ted Lilly said "Screw you guys, I gave up 1 run in my last start and we lost. I'm taking over this game."
  14. Damn, ESPN was ready to break into their programming for GIDLee's AB if Ryan had walked.
  15. I'm so accustomed to failure that when DeRosa hit that single I just kinda assumed that it was going to be lined right at the SS
  16. Everyone say hello to the visiting Brewers fans from BF.net. They are laughing about this thread over there.
  17. Well come on, no one wants to play a 1 game playoff with the Brewers tomorrow when we can just win it outright today.
  18. Well it is our 7-8-9 hitters. DeRosa, Reed against a righty, Lilly.
  19. Man, if there was a person who was solely a Cubs fan, didn't pay attention to any baseball outside the Cubs and saw Chris Young play, they would assume he is the best player in the NL. But they are wrong, he hits like .230
  20. Is it sad that I'm happy the game is on Comcast so I can hope to hear Piniella blow up if/when we lose?
