  1. Maybe he's just testing out his release point with his adjusted arm angle and its taking a few pitches to find it.
  2. At least they contained Joe Morgan. Nah, I didn't post his line. His HR is insignificant as it landed in the newly named "Morgan Basket"
  3. Cubs 27 Reds 29 F/17 Soriano 0-9 6 K Lee 7-9 (7 singles), 2 GIDP Ramirez 5-9 4 HR Edmonds 1-9 4 diving catches, 1 necessary Theriot 7-9 6 CS Zambrano 8 IP 0 ER 2 H 7 BB Howry 0.1 IP 24 ER 19 HR Sabo 1-1 PH HR Larkin 1-1 PH HR F. Robinson 1-1 PH HR
  4. Basically what I was trying to say, but I had a bad approach to the argument.
  5. Holy hell have we lit this guy up in the past. Some of those numbers Omar posted are mind boggling
  6. Does anyone have statistics regarding the wind direction at Wrigley historically. It seems like the last 2 years have had an amazingly high number of 'wind blowing in' days. It could be part of the reason why our big HR hitters have seen a dip in HRs the last 2 years.
  7. Did you really just try and show the team was slumping over the past 5 games by removing the 3 highest scoring innings from those games? I didn't say they were in a slump, I said they could be slumping, and with a horrible pitcher going today we should be able to tell. I know that was a completely faulty argument, I couldn't find a better way to express my gut feeling (which being a pessimist I should probably never rely on). In the admittedly small 5 game sample size I am referring to the team is hitting .239 .356 .377 .733. The ability to be patient is what separates us from other offenses (because all teams have peaks and valleys) which is why we've been able to have a couple of big innings to mask a potential slump.
  8. This game will determine to me whether we are in a team offensive slump. Hasn't looked too great lately. Maybe I'm just spoiled because I know people will point out the 3 run inning Friday, 8 run inning Sunday and the 4 run inning Monday, but outside of those the Cubs have scored 7 runs in the other 42 innings. Meh, even if we are in a slump, I still think we are in the driver's seat.
  9. Of come on, Lou is picking on Kosuke because he's not having a good season at all, not because of one bad game.
  10. God that game was extremely annoying to go to. No energy from the crowd, not much offensive energy from the team. A loss is a loss, whatever we're 28 over, but its annoying that I've gone to 1/3 of the team's home losses this year (6 out of 18) and I've only gone to 12 games total at home.
  11. You think they are going to play at least 5.5-7.5 games worse than the Brewers over the next 38 games? With that bullpen and no Carpenter? Yes. ...but they havent had a bullpen or Carpenter all year and have managed to stay within 2.5 games of the Brewers in the first 125 games. Oh and plus they will likely get Wainwright back in some capacity. Face it they are a decent, not great team, with pitching issues and a pretty damn good offense. If they play .500 ball the rest of the year, the Brewers would have to go 23-12 to make the most conservative part of your prediction come true.
  12. You're looking for the 2006 Chicago Bears Preseason Thread.
  13. Of the 5 teams you listed, only the Red Sox last year actually won the World Series, and only 2 of those teams even made the World Series.
  14. It's a topic worth discussing, but personally I don't care about being among the all time greats. I just care about winning a World Series. We'll let history take care of the rest. I'm sure the Cardinals fans don't care everytime they rub their 2006 championship in our faces.
  15. Does anyone born after 1980 know how good/not good the Royals team was that lost to the Phillies in the World Series?
  16. Well that settles it, the Indians have more fans than us.
  17. You think they are going to play at least 5.5-7.5 games worse than the Brewers over the next 38 games?
  18. If all of professional baseball went on strike except the Cubs, and Bud Selig allowed the Owensboro, KY Little League team to compete against the Cubs for the World Series, and the Owensboro team took the Cubs to 7 games and the Cubs won on a forefit because Owensboro got 3 inches of rain the night before and their field was unplayable, I still wouldn't care what people said about our championship.
  19. Soriano downplays his overwhelming MVP campaign:
  20. He's been there for about a week He had a damn good series in Atlanta, and was decent in Florida. .233 /.303 /.433 on the road trip. The Cubs went 5-1 on the road trip therefor he was not in a slump. Umm, what? I guess Kosuke is on fire then Inside joke (see Soriano MVP thread)
  21. This is the start of a Derrek Lee June 05 hot streak!
