  1. Cubs could finish with the best record in the NL, and have a winning record against every NL team except the worst team in the NL
  2. And now Bobby Howry in to end any suspense. Why would you bring him in with the wind blowing out?
  3. Did the Natspos even score a total of 6 runs in 4 games against the Crew? They scored exactly 6 runs.
  4. Trust me, eventually one of them will rip a HR to LF today. Hope there is no one on base for that HR. I hate being right You weren't. Was it to right or center? Either way it was a HR
  5. Any given day in the MLB. That's why us as fans shouldn't overlook teams. It feels that much worse when they unexpectedly do well.
  6. Trust me, eventually one of them will rip a HR to LF today. Hope there is no one on base for that HR. I hate being right
  7. If Marquis gets behind Lastings, he will hit at least a double
  8. Bases loaded 0 outs. When the Nats played the Brewers they did this and scored 0 runs. Can we be as lucky?
  9. Marquis is going to give up a bomb this inning. The wind has steadily increased all game.
  10. There are occasions when the first pitch thrown is a very hittable pitch. Agreed, thats why its weird to have such a low BABIP on first pitch hits. I'd wager a guess that this stretch is more of an anomalous blip than a trend. That they're still winning 80% of their games while being unlucky with BABIP and RISP just speaks to how good this team is, really. Oh yeah, it completely is a blip. That's why BABIP is good tool to predict future performance.
  11. Unfortunately, we cannot set a club record for most games over .500 in one season, which is 80 games over .500 in 1906 (116-36)
  12. There are occasions when the first pitch thrown is a very hittable pitch. Agreed, thats why its weird to have such a low BABIP on first pitch hits.
  13. if we win today, we only need to be 3 games over .500 more to be the most games over .500 since that 1945 season.
  14. Yup, 4 pitch inning. Our BABIP on first pitches the last 2 days has got to be around .000
  15. About as good as our odds to make the playoffs.
  16. The Cubs could have 6 players with 20 or more HRs, but 0 with 30 or more HRs. Soriano - 22 Ramirez - 20 Soto - 18 Lee - 18 DeRosa - 16 Edmonds - 16
  17. Mark DeRosa is on pace to hit 20 HRs and 95 RBI this year.
  18. It's Jason Marquis. 3 innings in cause for celebration.
  19. Trust me, eventually one of them will rip a HR to LF today. Hope there is no one on base for that HR.
  20. Derrek Lee's OPS has been taken off life support but is still in critical condition after that home run.
  21. Who? Did what? Cue the blind squirrel wind must be blowing out to left at 125 mph Close...14 MPH
  22. Who? Did what? Cue the blind squirrel
  23. Bold prediction, but I don't think he'll have enough left after pitching this afternoon. (I know, absolutely horrible joke)
  24. Yup, I am really hoping someone with good RH splits hits well in September and knocks Ronny off the postseason roster. Nothing against Ronny, he's done decent for his role as the 25th guy, but we have too many guys that hit lefties and not enough that hit righties.
