  1. Hmm a TE that can't block but is too slow to be a full time WR. Another busted first round pick on offense for Angelo?
  2. Eh we're 7.5 games up on a playoff spot while the Sox are in a heated divisional race. I think the coverage is decently even. Besides, both the Sox and Cubs own stakes in CSN, so if there was a perceived bias, I would think the Cubs would give them a little nudge and get it back to normal. Now the radio stations are a different story. I had a 2 hour drive to make on Saturday and was excited to hear a little Cubs talk following that DWard GW home run the previous night. Between 670 and 1000, I heard maybe 10 minutes of Cubs talk. 670 was running "White Sox weekly" the entire 2 hours, which I guess is a show they are contractually obligated to do as part of their rights package, but 1000 was talking about the Sox 40% of the time, Bears 40% of the time, Phelps 15% of the time and the Cubs the remaining 5%. It kinda sucks sometimes that the Cubs flagship station is primarily a newstalk station that doesn't provide many opportunities to talk Cubs. Thankfully Sports Central is heavily biased towards the Cubs, but once training camp starts, Bears talk cuts into the Cubs talk.

  4. I was thinking if the Bears could go innovative and try a 3 TE set. WR TE TE OL OL OL OL OL TE QB RB You can only have 2 TEs eligible though right and they have to be specified before the play? So maybe that wouldn't work. I would also consider running a 2 TE set with Olsen lined up at WR on one end with Rashied Davis or even Hester on the other. That would create some interesting matchups. Either way it should be clear that our blocking is going to be historically bad, and innovation is going to be needed to make this offense even slightly competent.
  5. With his stuff, do you think he can modify his game and pitch to contact more? That and health are the only things keeping him from being an ace.
  6. I think everyone realized when the Bears didn't go out and get Faneca in the offseason that the Bears O-line was going to be miserable, even with Chris Williams. Honestly, with a good offensive line the last could of years, its not completely crazy to suggest that Kyle Orton would be on another team and Bears fans would be talking about how amazing it is to have stability at the QB position with Grossman. I'm not saying Grossman would be a star or anything, but he's proven in the past with time to throw he can be solid, if not just under spectacular. I guess you could say that about a lot of QBs though, although Grossman has tools that other QBs do not.
  7. You know what I was just thinking? It's not completely out of the realm of possibility for the NL West, which contains 2 improved teams jumping the NL East leaders who have been sputtering between 8 and 12 games over .500 all year. Right now Ari/LA are only 4 games back of the Mets. Why does this matter? Instead of facing the Dodgers or DBacks, we could be facing the Mets or Phillies. Honestly, I like the matchup vs. NY a lot better than LA or Arizona. After Santana, who would likely face the Cubs at Wrigley, pitchers like Maine, Pelfrey and Perez don't scare me.
  8. Briggs, Harris, Vasher, and McGowan (over Chris Harris) are better. Urlacher, Tillman, Ogunleye, and Alex Brown are at least as good. Mike Brown, the other DT (vs. Tank or Ian Scott), and Hillenmeyer are probably slightly worse. The backups (D. Manning, Idonije, Williams, Payne, Anderson) are better than the 05 backups which included Azumah, Mike Green, Todd Johnson, Boone, and Michael Haynes among others. I don't think it's a stretch to see this defense being better than the 05 version. 05-08 Briggs=Briggs Urlacher>Urlacher Hillenmeyer=Hillenmeyer Ogunleye=Ogunleye Alex Brown>Alex Brown Tommie Harris Tank Johnson>Dusty Dvorchek Mike Brown>Mike Brown Chris Harris=McGowan Vasher=Vasher Tillman=Tillman Secondary depth Line depth>Line depth Just my opinion...it could be close to '05 levels, but then again people change as they get older, schemes change or quickly get outdated by opponent adjustments, etc.
  9. I really hope that we can see an efficient outing from Harden today. It's disturbing to see he hasn't made it 6 innings in 4 of his 6 starts, and the 2 starts that he did go 7 innings, he threw 112 and 105 pitches.
  10. Gonna be a tough one. Wolf vs. Sabathia, especially with the Brewers ability to hit lefties looks like a huge mismatch. When he faced off against the Brewers last month, he went 4.1 IP 7H 4R 3BB
  11. There's always TBS
  12. Here is how Cubs playoff teams have fared after 124 games in their respective seasons: 2008 - 76-48 1st 5.0 GA (4.5 or 5.5 depending on the Brewers game) 1984 - 73-51 1st 4.0 GA 1989 - 71-53 1st 2.5 GA 1998 - 68-56 2nd 8.0 GB 2003 - 64-60 3rd 1.5 GB 2007 - 64-60 1st Tied
  13. Brewers have them loaded with 2 outs and Weeks up Edit: And he ks
  14. We go 5-1 on the road trip and rewarded with a 6 game homestand against DBR's and the Nationals. Amazing. Let's go 5-1 or 6-0 on that homestand :)
  15. What a game. The first 6 innings were pure anger and frustration. The bottom of the 6th and 7th were full of a ton of tension. And then the rest of the game was relaxing and enjoyable.
  16. But it looks like she ran out of room, so there was a reason for the misspelling. If you are going to make a sign to rip on another teams fans, either make sure you spell it correctly, or don't make it at all.
  17. How cute...they have a message board. I don't know why everyone is ripping on that board....every team has dedicated fans, and while they don't go out to that muggy park, like people have pointed out they have one of the higher TV ratings in the MLB I've been going to that board since 2004 off and on, they have some good fans there. Wow Manny killed that ball..... 3-0 Dodgers.
  18. For anyone that doesn't know, that Brewer game is on TBS
  19. Cubs fans never stop being worried until there is an X next to the team's name
  20. Fatty K's with a man on third. 0-0 after a half inning.
  21. Its got almost as many pages (20) than we have (22). But then again, 15,000 of our fans are out at their park.
