I will be cheering for the most benefit to our club (not cheering for the Cardinals per say). Since the Cardinals AND Mets would have to lose to change our magic number in that race, I'll be cheering for the Brewers to lose.
I just had a scary thought. What if Wood really isn't available today, and Howry comes in for the close. Don't forget, he was the only reliever not used yesterday and Lou is a big fan of putting people in key situations to build confidence.
It's a 2-run game. That said, Gaudin didn't pitch last night, right? I was thinking Marquis 1 more but oh well. I'm just worried that Wood and Marmol won't be available tomorrow vs. Philly and Cole Hamels on the mound
I wouldn't mind it either considering the Cubs used six relievers yesterday (granted they didn't necessarily throw that many pitches) but I'd have Shark warming up and if Marquis gets into any trouble, yank him. I'm assuming you'd want Marmol to close?
Marquis at 94 pitches. At this point, I would bet Lou lets him come out to start the 8th with 9-1-2 due up. If he gets into any trouble, Marmol will come in.
If we can get 1 more out of Marquis I'll be really happy. I would assume both Marmol and Wood are good to go. Wood has thrown 2 days in a row but before that he hadn't pitched in 5-6 days.
Wasn't he a huge pain in the ass to us last year? He and that scrub CF'er for the Reds whose name escapes me. Norris Hopper Yes, him. viewtopic.php?f=8&t=44243
