  1. Windy City Football for the next 20 mins!
  2. Is Lou withholding the lineups for some reason? I can't find them anywhere, but I see the Phillies lineup rollins utley burrell howard vic werth feliz ruiz hamels
  3. Dempster has a 3.12 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP against teams over .500 this year. Here is a look at the starts: MIL - 6 IP 3 H 2 BB 1 ER MIL - 6 IP 4 H 5 BB 3 ER ARI - 6 IP 3 H 3 BB 2 ER HOU - 6 IP 6 H 2 BB 4 ER TBR - 5 IP 6 H 2 BB 1 ER CWS - 8 IP 10 H 1 BB 1 ER CWS - 2.1 IP 7 H 3 BB 8 ER HOU - 8 IP 6 H 1 BB 0 ER FLA - 6 IP 2 H 6 BB 1 ER MIL - 7 IP 5 H 1 BB 1 ER HOU - 5 IP 5 H 1 BB 1 ER STL - 6.2 IP 6 H 3 BB 2 ER FLA - 6 IP 5 H 2 BB 2 ER ---------------------------- TOT - 78 IP 68 H 32 BB 27 ER
  4. I would have agreed with you all the way up until the point where we got shutout by him last month. Now I'm petrified of him again.
  5. Today's "Don't enjoy the best season in 63 years and instead freak out about games that might occur in a month" Moment:
  6. Any Way You Want It? Seriously though, how funny would it be to steal the White Sox song for our own potential championship? It would only work if we actually one it, otherwise we'd look like huge morons.
  7. Yeah the Cubs fans have never rallied around terrible gimmicks before. It's a bit cheesy, but I kinda like it.
  8. Untuck your shirt then
  9. It's only become normal relatively recently for the Cubs. It's good to see a healthy franchise, even if it actually hurts the Cubs chances. I still don't see how a Milwaukee fan can justify hating Cubs fans, their willingness to prop up the attendance up there the past ten years practically kept that franchise afloat. Hmm...15,000 extra fans for 6-8 games a year = around 100,000 in attendance. I know it was hyperbole, but I don't think the Cubs fans really made THAT much of a difference.
  10. When will people realize these columnists write these articles just to get reactions?
  11. Your title is a grammatical nightmare. Congrats though, long live Milwaukee baseball!
  12. Where you staying? I'm jealous. I think he meant in 2004 during the Milton almost no-hitter game. Not tonight. My bad, I didn't catch the "was"
  13. Scouts Inc has done some analysis to see why Cole Hamels is so effective against the Cubs historically: More at the link (ESPN insider only): http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/insider/news/story?id=3557053
  14. Didn't the Cubs carry a no-hitter into the 9th a few years ago against the Phillies, then lose the no-no and then the game? I'm getting old. Who was that pitching for us? Or am I imagining this whole thing? I just seem to recall it was someone who had no business being a few outs away from a no-hitter. EDIT: I'm both old and stupid. It wasn't a Cub at all, but I was right about it being a crappy pitcher. Eric Milton. Here's the gamer, with a reference to everyone's favorite ex-Cubs bullpenner: http://www.baltimoresun.com/topic/cs-040725cubsgamer,0,5586477.story That game sucked, was awesome for 20 seconds and then was crushing. Milton went into the 9th with a perfect game I think. But Barrett led off with a bloop single, and somehow with 2 outs in the 9th, KPop hit a double to the deepest part of the park and about 3 feet from a HR to tie the game. It was so improbable, I was so excited. The LaSuck blew it in the bottom of the 9th and we lost.
  15. ^^ This post sums up my thoughts as well. Philly is weird. The only players that really scare me are Howard, Utley, Burrell, Hamels, Lidge and maybe Myers and yet they all kill us. The lineup doesn't look too scary outside of the big guys. Whenever Philly plays a team I want to lose, and I see like Feliz, Ruiz and Coste due up, I wonder how the hell are they over .500. It sounds like I'm disrespecting Philly, and I guess I kinda am, but I understand why they are good. Their mashers kill the ball, their role players like Coste, Werth, and Victorino come up big. Their starters outside Hamels, while by no means are dominant, hold the fort down long enough for the bashers to do their job. And their bullpen started the season stellar, but seems to have tailed off just a tiny bit.
  16. Dempster has been great, but I'd say the pitching matchup is even or slightly favors the Phillies. We don't hit Cole well at all.
  17. Heres what Phillies Phans are saying about the series:
  18. Following the Dodgers as they get swept in Philly and lose the first 2 in Washington is fun.
  19. Can't help it. If we all accepted that we were locks for the playoffs, then what the hell would we do for the next 29 games? The Cubs fans are used to clinching the last couple days of the season, having such great odds in late August is something we refuse to grasp.
  20. I dont think the Chicago Tribune knows what the Indians are doing. They still have Detroit listed as the third team in the AL Central Standings sidebar, even though the Indians passed them a couple days ago.
  21. The way the Cardinals are getting pumped up by this rally, it looks like they think their season has turned around.
  22. I can't believe I'm happy to see Studwick get a big hit.
  23. I think the reason why a lot of fans hate us is because the fans of ours that are obnoxious act like Red Sox fans, despite not having the championships to go along with it.
  24. Cole Hamels will be tough tomorrow. He absolutely dominates us. In his last 3 starts against us he is 3-0 with a 1.23 ERA and a 0.77 WHIP with 20 K. He has given up 4 HRs against us though. I am posting this in here because I looked it up just now and the next game thread isnt up.
