  1. How in the name of logic do the umpires rule that Molina is out of the game. Are you serious? What a moronic decision.
  2. The Dodgers worry me quite a bit (but it's me so..) The Dodgers have the best ERA of ANY team against the Cubs this year (2.49) Their best starters have all shutdown the Cubs this year (except Billingsley, who has been a lot better in the second half). Lowe especially has pretty much had his way with us. If we play them, expect all low scoring games that will be decided by timely hitting and the pen. On first glance, I say the Cubs win in 5, but with the games all likely being close and low scoring, one or two key plays or ABs can shift the series either way. Here are the Dodgers starters against the Cubs this year: Lowe: 2 GS, 1-0 1.93 ERA, 14 IP, 10 H, 4 BB, 3 ER, 1.00 WHIP Kuroda: 2 GS, 1-0, 0.59 ERA, 15.1 IP, 11 H, 3BB, 1 ER, 0.91 WHIP Billingsley: 2 GS, 0-1, 4.91 ERA, 11 IP, 11 H, 5 BB, 6 ER, 1.45 WHIP Kershaw: Haven't faced
  3. More importantly, the Cubs are .500 for the month... we've had a winning record every month this year, and need 2 wins to keep that going.
  4. If CC has to pitch tomorrow he'll have pitched 4 times in 12 days. I don't care how strong his arm is, he's going to see some effect from that. I am not at all convinced that Sheets is healthy, and I think he'll be ineffective even if he does pitch in the playoffs. Gallardo is good but theres no way he's going to be able to pitch more than 5 innings, and I suspect that at some point he'll go through a typical dead arm period and get lit up. The Brewers don't scare me one bit.
  5. Haha, you can tell the Cubs players just want to get this game over with....they are swinging at everything. Sup does have decent command of his breaking pitches tonight though.
  6. in over 270 PAs! I don't find that funny, I found it awesome!
  7. I feel like this is going to be one of those games where the Cubs are going to allow Suppan to scatter like 10 hits in 6 innings while only scoring 2 runs.
  8. Lee looked really bad in that AB, swinging at 3 balls low in the zone.
  9. 4-2 White Sox now. Momentum seems to be shifting
  10. In other news, the White Sox bounced back from a 2-0 defecit to take a 3-2 lead. Liriano and Minnesota gave up 3 runs in the third and trail the Royals 3-0
  11. Please don't do that in the playoffs Fonz.
  12. I'd really like to see Soriano get number 30 this weekend so we can say we at least have 1 30 HR guy
  13. 6 players with 20 HRs for the Cubs. Soriano - 29 Ramirez - 27 Soto - 23 DeRosa - 21 Lee - 20 Edmonds - 20
  14. Soto just missed taking that 400 feet
  15. The Cubs and Brewers fans seem to be equally loud
  16. Dammit. At least we are hitting it hard against Suppan
  17. What does this mean? You don't know what you're gonna get on any given day from anybody. Secondly, if you do think Zambrano is iffy, why don't you think Harden and Lilly are iffy? Third, if you think Zambrano is iffy, then wouldn't you rather have him going in game 2 than 3? Where you're faced with a must win down 2-0, or going for the kill up 2-0, or in a pivotal tie breaking game with the series tied at 1. Given Zambrano's last 7-8 starts, its more likely you are going to get a bad start from Z than Harden and Lilly. Harden had a bad start or two, and Lilly has had his clunkers, but neither has been nearly as erratic as Z. And I'd rather him going game 3, on the road (where he pitches better) than game 2, yes. It's easier to come back from down 0-1 than 0-2, and if we're down 0-1, I don't feel as comfortable with Z pitching as someone like Lilly or Harden.
  18. Man, I wish Zambrano was 3rd. I don't like not knowing what we will get from our starting pitcher if we lose game 1.
  19. A. Soriano, LF M. Fontenot, 2B D. Lee, 1B A. Ramirez, 3B M. Hoffpauir, RF G. Soto, C J. Edmonds, CF R. Theriot, SS R. Dempster, P GEO! The regular lineup minus Hoffpauir in there for DeRosa.
  20. Back and forth at least gives you the impression that something is working, but on the bright side, mid-afternoon two days in a row people have been able to pull tickets, theres always tomorrow! Would the Cubs ticket office release tickets on the weekend? Are they even open when the game isnt until mid week next week
  21. What is this "everything" the Herald sensationalized? At no point did I write that DeRosa might miss the postseason. The Herald is in no way a sensationalistic paper. Maybe you ought to read more carefully. Maybe he's getting the Sun-Times and the Herald mixed up [-X
  22. Are you married? I figured that would be the response. No, I'm not, and I would expect anyone who has a significant other that means something to them to not give my question a second thought. I bet the TV would be on though (even though I doubt there would be little interest in the game...minds would be elsewhere) The reason I came up with that question is that I was thinking of scenarios where I wouldn't be there to at least watch Game 7 of the World Series if the Cubs were in it, and death or situations relating to death was the only one I could come up with.
  23. I just bought a ticket to game 1 off cubs.com!! I have been checking all day, and finally got one to pop up. I think its the only one because I keep looking and don't see any more popping up. My advice is to keep checking all day and hopefully one gets released. The ticket is in 223 Row 14. Not the best (i hate the overhang, but I'll take it!
  24. I have a weird mind...and during this summer one hypothetical situation I thought of is this... Cubs are in the World Series this fall. Your wife has an operable brain tumor and needs immediate surgery that will give her a 50% chance of living. The surgery is scheduled to take place during Game 7 of the World Series. Despite being extremely nervous and full of emotion regarding the surgery, you sit in the waiting room watching the game on TV. It's the bottom of the 9th, the Cubs are up 1 run, the bases are loaded and there is 2 outs and a 3-2 count. Suddenly, just as you have begun to give your mind a rest from the worrying and pain of dealing with your situation and have begun to enjoy baseball, the doctor comes out to give you the news on the surgery....do you tell the doctor to hold on a pitch or are you human enough to quickly get your priorities in place and forget about the game?
  25. The Mariners *crosses fingers*
