  1. Thomas, Noah and Rose or Aldridge, Hawes and a mid round pick last year. I know what you are saying though. Horrible picks. I don't get mad at these games, as long as Rose plays well. It's a funny feeling to mentally punt a season but at the same time have a crap load of interest in it. I loved, loved, LOVED the 04-05 Bulls. I honestly don't think I gained more enjoyment from a regular season than that team, Cubs included. I loved the players, everything about them. Fast forward all 4 years, and I could care less about any of them besides Rose. Can't stand Hinrich, dislike Deng, am meh about Gordon, etc.
  2. As awesome as Peavy is, and as much of an improvement he'd be for the Cubs, if it was between getting a player of Milton Bradley's caliber and Peavy, I'd take Badley right now. Our rotation will most likely still thrive without Peavy, but I worry about our offense without a LH power bat in there. That said, I would have held off on signing Dempster until I gave a great attempt at getting Peavy, even if I ran the risk of losing Demp to another team.
  3. That's a valid point as well. I disagree with having a SO after though. Play 20 minutes of OT and if they are still tied, then they deserve to tie.
  4. Veal will probably get scooped up in the Rule V draft won't he?
  5. 10 teams is still loss than every other major professional sport in the US MLB - 8/30 NFL - 12/32 NHL - 16/30 NBA - 16/30
  6. releasing him would be really productive. As opposed to....
  7. Rich Harden - Josh Vitters - Felix Pie - Lou Piniella - Derrek Lee for Halladay
  8. But then teams are going to be conservative the last 5 minutes of the 3rd period, etc etc etc
  9. He's putting up good numbers in the VWL because he's facing Rich Hill.
  10. If shootouts are going to exists, I think that if you lose in OT you get zero points. If it gets to the SO than each team gets a point, like it's a tie and then the SO is for the extra point. This might give more incentive to try to win in OT (not saying teams stall to get to the SO, but I would assume it happens). No, I think it would do the opposite. If you got zero points for losing in OT, everyone would hang back and not take any chances because they would just try to get into the SO to make sure they got that point. That's actually why they set it up the way they did, to try to get teams to take chances and make the OT exciting. Same reason it's 4-on-4. Basically since there is arguements both ways about teams slacking off to get that 1 point, I think thats case enough that the OT/SO system is flawed. 2 points for a win, 1 for a tie, 0 for a loss. Just do it. Except that goes back to the problem people mentioned where nobody is going to risk losing in OT, and losing that point. OK, then cancel hockey.
  11. Yeah time to release him. Certifiable headcase. I hope he gets it together on another team.
  12. I've always been against letting more teams into the playoffs. It's not even really the playoffs, its a play in game. I guess I'm just a traditionalist but I feel like a division winner should be at an advantage over the WC winner. The thing is, the WC team can sneak into the playoffs and ride an ace or two to the championship, and I don't like that. I'm sure there are people that feel the other way though.

  14. I have always been in favor of the "2 wild card teams play a 1 game playoff, have to face #1 seed right after" idea.
  15. For such a "great" closer, he sure gets shopped by teams a lot. I'm sure its not a personality issue....
  16. Also, I hate the fact that a SO Winner gets 2 points and a SO Loser gets 1. I'm not suggesting the SO becomes all or nothing, because we all know how stupid that would be. Can't we just go back to ties? It's the only sports I perfectly accept ties in, and they don't have them anymore.
  17. Or he just knows they will be cheaper
  18. If they insist on keeping shootouts, can they at least move it to a best of 5 or 7 instead of best of 3? I feel like you get all excited for a shootout and then all the sudden the opponent scores on their first try, then you miss on your first try and all the sudden your backs are to the wall.
  19. Tyrus Thomas impressed me in garbage time last night. I saw things I haven't seen from him this year such as attacking the basket and getting hands on a lot of balls defensively. He did keep up with his 1 goaltending per game average though.
  20. If (and I mean if) we put a hurting on the Rams, it could go a long way to gaining some confidence at least.
  21. 3 straight chances to win here YEAH HAWKS WIN!!!!! As crappy as losing a shootout feels, winning a shootout feels just as awesome
  22. Sharp!!!! 2 goal lead in the shootout!
