  1. Got it, I didn’t catch the last 10 mins or so. Interesting choice, if the Hawks challenged it and it wasn’t offsides they would have been a man down too right? Albeit with 6 secs left
  2. I'm assuming this is during a pause in play. Where is the next faceoff? If its on the other end of the ice probably 1 with 6.2 left. Otherwise 2 with 51 seconds probably...they would have to score twice and there is an empty net available.
  3. Thats a little harsh since he lit up Clemson in the CFP for 6 TDs on busted ribs. But yeah obviously there's still a big difference between 2020 Clemson and the NFL. I'm no expert but I like several of the QBs in this draft and not in a "hey look Will Levis could be something one day" sort of way. Who knows how many will pan out and who knows where they'll be drafted but I would be willing to bet there's at least 2 franchise QBs in this draft and 1-2 more solid NFL starters with upside. That depth might actually hurt the Bears if they try to package one of the picks but they'll still be in a very good spot.
  4. I've read the scouting reports and they all mention strong arm strength (not elite, but above average NFL arm strength) but his throws looked like they had noticeably less zip than the ones I've seen from Fields. But his accuracy and ball placement were considered weaknesses for him and that's a huge problem if he can't fix it. His ceiling is serviceable NFL backup and that's fine.
  5. Gus seems to be great for memorable one liners at least. There's about 7-8 from the last 2 years of Michigan football that I can hear in my head. Can't say I remember a single thing any other PBP person has said lol, I haven't really noticed a slippage in his calls but haven't really thought about it too much. I really like Joel Klatt...fairly vanilla personality but is knowledgable both about the teams he is covering and the X's and O's of football. He seems like he lives and breathes college football and that passion shows in his analysis during games and on his various podcasts/TV appearances. Also with Benetti, I don't think he's a terrible PBP guy but I havent understood why people seem to universally adore his work. He seems like just another PBP guy.
  6. If Fields misses 3-4 weeks, I'm not sure if his Bears career can be salvaged unless he comes back and demonstrates conclusively that he's an elite QB for the rest of the season. If the Bears go 0-4 or 1-3 in his absence, they are going to be right in the thick of the number 1 pick discussion. If the Panthers continue to be the worst team in the league they'll be in that same discussion. If the Bears are 1-9 or 2-8, Flus's time will be pretty much over and they will be looking for a reset. Fields has shown flashes of being a great QB, but not nearly consistently enough to feel comfortable moving forward with him. He has also missed time in all 3 of his seasons due to his style of QB play. A 1-9 Bears team with likely 2 top 5 picks in the one of the deepest QB classes in years (apparently) is not going to commit to Fields for next year much less long term. I know all of this is obvious to most, but just spelling out how this injury to Fields is probably the beginning of the end.
  7. I always find the concept of QB-WR chemistry to be interesting. It took a while for Fields to feel comfortable looking for Moore and finding where to give the ball to him and when he did Moore blew up for 2 weeks before a regression yesterday. Tyler Scott had 5 targets this year in 5 games and was an afterthought in the offense. Fields did give him a target yesterday, but when Bagent, who has likely thrown to Scott quite a bit in practice, came into the game he threw to Scott 4 times in 1.5 quarters, catching 2 of them for 12 years and drawing a huge ~40 yard PI call in the Bears only TD drive in the game. Not saying we should be throwing to Scott more necessarily but it makes me think when you are wondering why a rookie WR has not done much it could be just that the QB is simply not looking his way. Edit: Should also mention that Bagent also gave Velus his first target of the season, but I don't think Velus has run many routes this year either way.
  8. This is like the 4th year in a row that Big Noon Saturday has been a thing. I’m used to it at this point. Fox is the primary B1G rights holder and they’ve decided their biggest time slot is noon. I love a great night game between 2 great teams but while I’m not a traditionalist with most of my views, I enjoy when big games are on in the early window like they were when I was growing up. Now it seems like most games, even bad ones, are on in the late afternoon or night.
  9. That was so weird. I thought towards the end of that game that the bears were the best team in the NFC. Like you said rolling along. Figured even if Hanie sucked we just needed to go like 2-4 to lock up a playoff spot and get Cutler back. On top of that their remaining schedule was atrocious. Pissed off that we couldn’t find a way to win 2 games. Damn you Marion Barber (also RIP) edit: I guess they would have needed 3 wins since the 6 seed was the 10-6 falcons who we beat head to head. But still, lose 10-3 to the Chiefs on a Hail Mary, lost the Tebow game we were 98% locks in, there’s your 10-6. Those later Lovie teams were designed to find painful ways to barely miss the playoffs
  10. Didn’t Jay Cutler miss like 2 months with a dislocated thumb? I’m guessing we really don’t know the severity until the MRI.
  11. Doesn’t sound like something he’ll be able to play with anytime soon depending on the severity. Completely guessing here but maybe 3 weeks as a best case scenario? Maybe I’m way off and shouldn’t be completely guessing
  12. guess we shouldn’t expect the pass rush to get better for next week. Every team has injuries but it feels like the Bears are always ravaged by injuries to the thinnest parts of our team
  13. Almost certainly not but like many of us have said there’s like a 0.1% chance he is something and nothing I saw today suggests that it goes down to 0.0%, if anything it went up to 0.5%
  14. It feels like the ball slipped out of his hands. His arm looked like it was preparing for a longer throw and it looked strange coming out. Possibly also anticipated the hit that was coming and it took something off the throw
  15. Some good stuff from Bagent but did it not feel a little Hanie like? Opponent not prepared for them, got the ball moving with some easy completions and runs, led them on a TD drive but 2 killer mistakes, one for a defensive TD and one late in the game driving for the tying/winning score
  16. Wow huge grounding call. Will the bears seriously get the ball back with a chance to win?
  17. Obviously I want the Bears to win, but 70% of the desire is for the hilarity that would ensue this week.
  18. Bagent! 4 less passing yards than fields
  19. Not that it matters but the defense has been good today.
  20. Fields ruled out for the game. Guessing the x-ray didn’t look good since they ruled him out so quickly. Could be looking at an extended absence
  21. Nice throw by Bagent but couldn’t stay in bounds. Also looked like he stared him down which may have let to being forced out
  22. We can’t horsefeathers snap the ball for 2 weeks in a row and our QB is just throwing WR screens. Great stuff
  23. Mooney come on dude block
  24. Last Bears win at home: September 25, 2022 Last Bears win on a Sunday (you know, the day that NFL teams play on 90% of the time): September 25, 2022
  25. 670 hosts are devastated. Was going to be their Super Bowl tomorrow morning if Bagent immediately drove them to a TD
