  1. I’m sorry but it’s absolutely inexcusable that Marquee does not broadcast every single Spring Training game. The only exception id allow is split squad games, I would be ok with them only showing 1 of them. And I largely don’t even watch Spring Training games. I’ve seen maybe 2 innings so far but seriously what the horsefeathers are we paying premium cable prices for? They can’t even be bothered to broadcast many of the games at the ballpark and/or with their own camera feed. It’s ridiculous. Right now instead of the Cubs dedicated TV network broadcasting an actual (spring training) Cubs game, they are showing a replay of a Major League Rugby game I’d be less mad if I thought an appropriate amount of the revenue for Marquee was being spent on the club but we’re not even seeing much of a boost if any and we’re in year 5. I’d rather just go back to games being on WGN and NBC Sports Chicago as so far Marquee has been a gigantic dud.
  2. I thought to myself "Bote's contract can't be that bad" and then I looked it up, yikes $5.5 million for him this year. At least its the last year of the contract. Bote has to be one of the richest guys to ever spend 75+% of his career in the minors.
  3. This is a complete aside since its not the case here and you should take this as a compliment but every time I see I have an alert that you quoted one of my posts I consciously think in my head "ok what did I say that was stupid this time?" 😅
  4. Given how little spring results mean to me I doubt they mean more to other GMs but maybe worth seeing if any team not expecting to contend might want to trade for Bote. But then again the return would probably be so minimal it would be better to have Bote in Iowa in a “break glass in case of emergency” type of scenario
  5. I just can’t see it happening but crazier horsefeathers has happened. I think it’s more likely that Minnesota takes a McCarthy or Nix in the draft than trades for Fields. I’m not sure I believe that Pittsburgh is content with Pickett. Just can’t see that being true.
  6. This post was made under a lot of assumptions, namely that PCA, Busch and Cassie are all raking by June. Let’s see that happen before we start speculating how to handle the situation of having too many great bats and not enough spots for them.
  7. Hawks get beat down by the Eastern Conference worst Columbus Blue Jackets (derwood alert). They have now lost 14 of their last 15 games and have the least points in the NHL. In fact, the only team that is within 12 points of the Hawks (35 points) is the Sharks with 36 points, but the Hawks have played 2 more games than SJ so they're definitely the worst. Historically, they are the 17th worst team in the NHL per points percentage since 1980. Of course they are bad by design and if you're tryin to lose might as well lose a lot. Yes injuries and other things have made them even worse than they probably anticipated, even if they expected to be very bad, but damn I thought I'd have a little more fun watching this team. Oh well, hopefully they can strike gold in the lottery again and maybe start to put some pieces together. Has anyone followed the Hawks prospects closely? Any of the guys from the last 2 classes doing anything particularly noteworthy outside of Bedard?
  8. Wait college basketball is still going on? I must have stopped paying attention seeing as my 2 favorite schools are a combined 11-47 this year
  9. So Caleb measured out at just over 6’1 which is great. I assumed he’d be closer to 6’0. Alleviates a lot of concern about his height, though 6’1 still seems to be slightly below average for a QB.
  10. lol, I find this interesting: Supposedly a former NFL scout. I try to keep an open mind to dissenting opinions but there are some really strange arguments in there (and the linked article that goes into more detail).
  11. Greg Gabriel is such a freaking weirdo. He's on Twitter going on and on about Caleb Williams refusing to take any medical exams at the combine and how he's apparently the only player to ever refuse and what that says about his character or something. But the article he linked to even says Caleb plans to submit to medical exams with teams he meets with individually during the pre-draft process. He's just going on and on about it, bizarre.
  12. Pistons now 2-1 against the Bulls and 7-48 against everyone else. Good stuff.
  13. lol from down 6-0 in the 8th with no runs scored in 25 innings to tie game with 2 outs in the 9th on a PCA double
  14. Depends on how much of the smoke about Caleb you believe in. Many "evaluators" put Caleb in a rare class of QB prospect that you don't see many years. I can see a situation where you aren't in love with Young so you trade down for Stroud or another QB. But if Caleb is really seen as a once every 5 years prospect, I question the decision to trade down to take anyone else. I don't know of any talent evaluators who have proven to be good enough at projecting QBs that having strong conviction on one who isnt Caleb is super meaningful. Or at least meaningful enough to ignore consensus to pick someone else.
  15. spring training or not this is getting pretty ridiculous lol Is the offense refusing to score a run until Bellinger is in the lineup?
  16. Gabriel has been really wrong on horsefeathers lately, hopefully his streak continues because that just sounds dumb as hell.
  17. sounded to me like fields is gone. But both sides are so weird about this whole thing that they're going to believe what they want to believe.
  18. Really wish the Cubs had a channel that you could pay for that broadcast all of their games including Spring Training.
  19. Believe even if he has options he’s accrued enough service time in the MLB that he can elect for FA over accepting the assignment. A chance I’m wrong on that but either way his 40 man spot seems to be as pressing of an issue as his MLB roster spot.
  20. Thank God Hosmer retired last week
  21. NRI but interesting signing. Not as great as he was a couple years ago but still hit 17 bombs last year as a 1B/DH
  22. Ok the Cubs replaced Stroman with Imanaga and Bellinger with Bellinger. Now just have to hope the handful of bullpen additions, Busch, prospects and Counsel can improve the Cubs this season. Definitely a good deal of depth and flexibility on the roster. As for the deal, happy they got it done. Kind of wish we had 2 years of security with the deal, but get why that wouldn’t have been appealing enough for Belli and why it’s not the worst thing for the Cubs to have options after another year of guys like PCA, Busch and others.
  23. Cool to see but obviously means absolutely nothing.
  24. Would love to see Davis emerge. At this point no one is really counting on him to be anything so anything we get from him would be awesome.
