  1. Alzolay this year when he was the closer: 1.40 WHIP, 7.78 FIP, 3 saves in 7 chances, 0.4 HR/IP, 8.1 K/9, 9.5% walk rate Neris since becoming the closer - 1.50 WHIP, 8.18 FIP, 4 saves in 4 chances, 0.25 HP/IP, 9 K/9, 22.2% walk rate I know these are just a couple of isolated stats and there's sample size issues and so much more, I'm not actually saying anything other than its amusing to me that Neris is arguably pitching worse as a whole than Adbert but so far has gotten results.
  2. Is there anything notable about Tauchman’s profile this year that would suggest what he’s doing right now is sustainable? Obviously he had a really solid season last year and had a particularly hot stretch in July/August but did level off a bit the rest of the year (but still solid year overall). With all the injuries hitting/getting on base right now is so crucial for us. Not expecting him to randomly be a .900 OPS hitter at age 34 but would be nice if what he is doing is somewhat sustainable.
  3. Feel like Neris should not be the closer
  4. I’ll swear the first hitter walks like 60% of the time in Cubs save attempts
  5. I hate that I have to be so nervous about a save attempt with a 2 run lead
  6. Alright top of the order due up Nico, Tauchman and Happ
  7. Well he tried but couldn’t hit it hard enough lol
  8. 6 outs away from a no hitter. Those injuries aren’t hurting us at all /s
  9. I've definitely had that thought. The astronomically high asking price, the willingness to forego ownership but also demand revenue from other events as if they owned the stadium. Seems like a lot of things that were designed to be serious sounding enough to get AH to cave on the tax issues and ridiculous enough that they know there is no way they will be able to get their demands approved in Chicago giving them an easy out to go back to AH.
  10. Gotta find a way to piece together a some wins over the few weeks without the players who account for probably 40% of our projected WAR this year.
  11. He's our best healthy reliever so I'm guessing injured since thats what happens to all of our good players.
  12. I know that was a tough play, and that the runner probably tags and scores anyways, but we pay you to catch that Dansby.
  13. Leiter does not have it tonight. Supposed to be the one dude we an rely on lol
  14. Welp, 1st and 3rd with 0 outs. Good effort
  15. I keep waiting for the “good” part of the Cubs lineup to be coming up and then I realize there isn’t one without Seiya and Bellinger while Morel and a few others are slumping. There are still good hitters in the Cubs lineup just not much of a fearsome section that you look forward to.
  16. So weird when it feels like the team is rolling and then 2 days later it feels completely different like they can’t do anything right. Mets have lost 5 of 7, hopefully we’re catching them at a good time.
  17. So that’s 60% of our starting rotation including our ace, our 2 best hitters and probably best reliever all hurt.
  18. And that’s why you try to trade back in. When a guy with a 3rd round grade drops to the 5th and you have conviction in him. Booker took a top 30 visit to Chicago so obviously they liked him
  19. Gotta think the Bears can find a way to get back into the 5th or 6th round. Bears have a decent number of later picks next year and seems like there are always teams that end up with a lot of late round picks and not enough roster spots.
  20. Yeah not a big fan of drafting specialists especially when you only have 4 picks and that was your last one (unless they trade back in) but whatever. If they didn’t see anyone they loved and he was their BPA so be it. Eberflus can’t love not taking a single defensive player but we’ve committed plenty of resources over the last 2 years
  21. lol this started making waves on Twitter and was deleted shortly after. Not sure why he’d rush to delete this innocent comment on his draft night but funny nonetheless
