  1. I just realized the Hawks are playing in a morgue of a city tonight after the Titans loss
  2. Wow what the hell was that 3rd down play?? You are on the fringe of FG range on a 3rd and long, and you try a screen pass?
  3. Seriously....seeding in the NFL playoffs is weird. I would guess more often than not, a crappy team wins a bad division while a superior wild card team finishes with a better record, leaving the #1 seed playing a better team.
  4. Wow is Arizona bad. They might be the worst Divisional Playoff participant ever. Like I was hoping they could at least keep it somewhat close for 2-3 quarters so I could keep my interest, but it looks like they have 0 chance of that. I'm thinking 41-10 is the final score.
  5. They also kinda got screwed by that Delay of Game call.
  6. I'm glad Chris Johnson's injury exposed how bad the Titans are with Lendale White as their starting RB. Maybe CJ can get some goal line carries next year..
  7. Agreed. On a seperate note, I was just thinking, there are a lot of damn good stories left in the playoffs. Cardinals are historically futile Giants are trying to win without their #1 receiver who shot himself Eagles were left for dead a month ago and improbably got into the playoffs Chargers are trying to be an 8-8 team going to the Super Bowl
  8. We are :53 and a Chargers victory away from seeing an 8-8 team host a conference championship game.
  9. It's gonna take a Bears/Packers like finish to save the Titans here..
  10. I don't know if its CBS's production, but these fans sound damn loud in Nashville.
  11. Syracuse is in Florida?
  12. Who cares? We can outspend you to make up the rest of the gap. Sure we have Soriano longterm, but in 3 years, Lee, Ramirez, Lilly, Fukudome, and Bradley will be off the books. If they are old and not effective we will sign more people. It might not work out and we might make the wrong decisions, but I'm not going to sit here and assume that the Cubs will be horrible in 3 years because our core will be out of its prime years.
  13. This sounds like when people were saying Bobby Hill, Hee Seop Choi, David Kelton, Corey Patterson, Angel Guzman and Juan Cruz were going lead the Cubs for the foreseeable future.
  14. Only 46 more days until we hear Pat and Ron on the air.
  15. Desipte playing a crappy team, the Bulls are playing really really well offensively. They are moving the ball, getting good shots and hustling on the other end. Much maligned players like Tyrus are having great games. This is the team I hoped to see all year.
  16. Yeah, he's obviously faking it like Prior was.
  17. I'm not understanding this. Are you saying we should all really believe that OU is the best team, even after losing the game? Quite the opposite, I was extremely unimpressed with Oklahoma last night and I find it really hard to believe that they're the 2nd best team in the nation after last night. And seeing how a 1 loss Texas team did in fact beat Oklahoma (who finished with two losses), there's no way Oklahoma should finish 2nd in the polls. If you're going to rank Texas ahead of Oklahoma, Utah and USC definitely should be ranked ahead of Oklahoma as well. If you compare just their bowl performances, I think Oklahoma did better than Texas. If OU converts one of those possessions where they had the ball inside the 5 yard line, the whole complex of the game changes. I know that requires execution that the Sooners didn't have, but even an average team facing Florida in those situations would score at least a FG both times about 75% of the time (note: this is a random guess and not a statistic). It was a fluke that Oklahoma scored 0 points in those situations. Anyways, OU lost and Texas won. There's no way around that, and it doesn't matter that OU played a vastly superior team. And if you did want it to matter, Texas still beat OU at a neutral site this year.
  18. I don't think every other year has anything to do with this year. Take the Cubs for example. People said they'd never win the World Series because of their history of curses and follies, and then just last ye- Oh wait, scratch this post.
  19. We're the Park Ridge Cubs now, didn't you get the memo? Actually they are going to go by Cubs at Ridge, Park...or for short C.R.A.P. wouldn't that be C.A.R.P. The rally carp can be their new mascot /Desipio reference
  20. We're the Park Ridge Cubs now, didn't you get the memo? let me put it another way, what the eff did hendry ever do to deserve have a street named after him anywhere? Generally managed a baseball team to a level of respectability previously unknown during a period of time when the state was being run by a corrupt fan of that team. Word is, Daley is aiming to rename all the southside streets after Ozzie Guillen and Kenny Williams. The odd numbered streets will be Ozzie Guillen Way/Ave/St/Blvd/Ct/Pkwy/Hwy/etc, and the even will be Kenny Williams.
  21. Nice. Also, a little contract insight: http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090108&content_id=3736641&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc This is a good contract for the current economic state, but I wonder if Jim realizes that these backloaded contracts will kill him at some point. There's some opinion out there that backloaded contracts aren't that bad because the money isn't worth as much 3 years down the road, etc. I'm sure there are smarter posters that could explain that better. Well yeah that's basic finance, but even if there is a lesser future value, $12 million in '11 is still more than $7 million in '09
  22. As much as I hate to admit it, they are a well coached team and they have a really good pitching coach, so even a Cardinals team with less talent is one to worry about. Pujols + LaRussa + Duncan + 24 other average players = at least a 78-84 win team. A few breaks and they win more.
  23. They've done all already and haven't gotten to 90 wins in 4 years. They need more Pujols, average-osity and luck to get to 90. They still have major issues. But the Cubs are the class of the division. Most talent, most depth. We're not talking about favorites, we are talking about teams that can give the Cubs a run for their money. With a few breaks (Meph being right about Greene, Carp and Wainwright being healthy, Lohse keeping it up, Rasmus being a ROY candidate) they can be close enough to the Cubs where a couple of bad breaks (Harden/Zambrano/Bradley injuries, regressions from Soto/Fontenot, etc) can make the division competitive. That's a lot of what ifs, but its worth discussing, and like I said, crazier things have happened)
  24. Not according to the AP poll 1. Florida 2. Utah 3. USC 4. Texas 5. Oklahoma WOW...AP put Utah over USC? I thought they'd be 3 for sure When Rick Riley talks, (some) people listen
  25. Not according to the AP poll 1. Florida 2. Utah 3. USC 4. Texas 5. Oklahoma
