  1. Not that anyone cares, but all my inseason teams are going on a massive tank. Blackhawks, Bulls, Michigan, DePaul. Frustrating.
  2. Haha, this forum got torn to shreds by that author. I guess I didn't read closely enough to consider whether it was satire. After all the zany marketing ideas the Cubs have introduced over the years, I guess it just seemed like this was yet another one. If that blog is really the home of intelligent thought like he seems to imply it is, I guess we can live without his uninformed input on this board.
  3. Well DePaul lost to South Florida for the second time this year, meaning their odds of going 0-18 in the Big East go up big time.
  4. Seriously, why would that even matter? The grading scale between a good beat writer and a bad one has absolutely nothing to do with who can break a story first. cause i constantly see the "bruce what do you know about this" or "bruce has hendry said this" type of posts. when in reality, there's nothing to suggest that hendry tells him anything. i just dont get it. If you've followed Hendry's career as a GM, you'll see that Hendry doesn't really share the kind of information most of us are looking for (offseason moves, for example) with anyone. And if he were to share some of his inner most secrets, he would probably share them with Chicago Tribune writers, since the organization is/was owned by the Tribune. exactly my point. hence the not understanding of "bruce tell me what you know" that i see everywhere. He's more of an insider than anyone else here, and the only inside source that can directly answer our questions if he so chooses, so if people want to ask him questions, and he chooses to answer them, what does it hurt?
  5. I expect that after some starts he will be revered as a god, and in other starts we will want to give him a black guy.
  6. God Michigan sucks. I tried to ignore the numbers that said Michigan wasn't as good as their record, but it's definitely showing. They will be lucky to make the NIT at this rate. Duke and UCLA should be ashamed of theirselves.
  7. Don't know if this was discussed, but did anyone notice that Rich Harden's name was on the provisional roster for Team Canada for the WBC?
  8. He could have. You have to admit its at least suspicious that he is acquiring the exact players that SD wanted in a Peavy trade. My guess is Hendry sees value in them so he doesn't mind keeping them, but his intention was to acquire them with the hopes of restarting the Peavy discussions, realizing that Towers is likely in a hard place and will eventually revisit things.
  9. Yuck, 5-5-1 in our last 11 games. Guess we couldn't expect them to play like they were playing in December all year.
  10. Their top 9 CFers were: 9) Kirby Puckett 8) Jim Edmonds 7) Duke Snider 6) Ken Griffey Jr. 5) Joe DiMaggio 4) Tris Speaker 3) Mickey Mantle 2) Ty Cobb 1) Willie Mays I really liked that they had Speaker so highly (right where he should be I think). Shows that they put at least some thought into it. Jim Edmonds number 9? Really? He was excellent in his prime, but his prime was during the steroids era and his peak years were mysteriously short and came in his early 30's. I might take Kenny Lofton over him, and Lofton definitely isn't among the top 9 CFs of all time.
  11. No offense, but reading that a managers impact is equal to a half season of CC Sabathia in the NL is one of the worst things I've read on this board. I would like to hear the argument though to keep an open mind.
  12. I told you guys that Michigan isn't going to make the tourney. I know how my college bball fandom goes and its 12 straight years without a rooting interest in the NCAA tourney while cheering for a major big conference team.
  13. At least he knows he's being irrational
  14. You fool, by the time his contract is up and he's eligible to be signed, he'll be an old man. You should have told him to trade for him so we could get him 5 years earlier.
  15. Same but only on my home computer. My new computer has the issue you describe.
  16. That's the thing I hate about Tyrus...There's always wow moments because he's a freak...He can't just be decent sometimes it's either horrible or wow He's been more wow than horrible for the last 2-3 weeks. I know, but it won't last he's a headcase, but I agree he has been more wow lately I don't *necessarily* agree. It's more about finding a role to Tyrus to maximize his strengths. He's not going to be a star in the league. The only way he'll be an all star is if he becomes an uber-defensive/hustle guy for a championship contender. But he can be an important piece/solid contributor for a contender if he stays within his game. He's not going to be a jump shooter, he's not going to develop great post moves. He is going to hustle, get rebounds, get steals and get weak side blocks (is a great weak side defender). If he does that, he'll be a better version of Tyson Chandler (meaning that he has more offensive game and better hands than TC). Thomas is like 4inches shorter than Chandler...I mean I agree he has more of an offensive game than him and has better hands...I think there's a better player to compare him to I just don't know who ha Tyrus has a better vertical than Tyson meaning he can do many similar things as him. Tyson was a skinny, semi-athletic big with soft hands and a weak frame. Tyrus is a average sized, very athletic player who has a long reach that allows him to play bigger than his actual height. Being shorter didn't stop Ben Wallace or Dennis Rodman from playing a similar (definitely not completely the same) style of ball as Tyson, but doing it better. yeah, but Tyrus has better hands then Wallace and Rodman as well...I know what your trying to say and I basically agree...I just don't think he'll ever really develop because he's a little to much of a headcase to me We'll see. I felt like Tyson was trying to do to much in his first few seasons. He was trying to prove he was the number 2 pick and felt like he needed to develop into a superstar. This season Tyrus is recognizing he needs to fit a role for him and his team to be successful. But I could be wrong. Only time will tell.

  20. Do you mean on the radio? The game should only be on TBS for TV. FSN Ohio wth? I thought TNT games were national TV games and not broadcast locally. I've never seen a Thursday Bulls game covered by TNT and a local channel.

  22. Interesting signings, wonder if it means anything: http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/9080942/Sources:-Padres-talking-to-vets-Eckstein,-Vizquel
  23. Yeah but its a little more versatile. Last year our biggest problem off the bench was that Blanco was our best RH power bat off the bench when Reed started. Aurilia, while crappy, could at least improve that most likely.
